Honestly, I couldn't care less about which is faster. When the speed limit is 65mph it doesn't matter if a bike can go 200mph (save track days) so yeah, I'll take the Ducati name over Honda or Yamaha any day. It's like wearing a suit. Why buy a suit from Macy's (Honda/Yamaha) when you can get a tailored hand stitched Italian suit (Ducati)? They both do what they're made to do so when it all comes down to it, it's all about the fabric and the prestige.

u HAVE to get the Termis. I've had my Monster a month and dont understnd how Duke owners DONT own Termis. There's really little point.

Termis are nice, but the 848 does sound great running stock cans (youtube audio quality is no basis for a real comparison).

They're a bunch of extra noise and reduced low-speed performance. I'll do a termi upgrade when I start tracking mine for sure.

Reduced performance...? I get a coupla extra hp outta mine! I didn't just bolt the pipes on however, the dealer had to do some stuff to the ECU etc...out of a full system u'd get even more performance. Personally though, I think its more than noise, its character. Mine crackles and pops on the overrun and when I blip the throttle occasionally. But you're right in that Dukes do sound very good indeed running stock pipes

Well I'm glad you didn't freak out and all me names. I understand that when you add the Termis and proper ECU tuning you get more hp. HOWEVER, like I said, you will notice a difference when driving around at low speeds (not as smooth), which is what I meant by decreased low-speed performance. And I agree about the character... everybody loves a good exhaust crackle haha.

um, well there are diff kinds:

the slip on pipe with the baffle in should be legal.

If you take the baffle out tho, its about as loud as a full system, both of which aren't theoreticaly legal in the UK. I live in Ireland though and police here dont care about noise really, unlike what i hear about the UK.

Don't put an HID kit on your Ducati. The Headlights run through the ECU along with all of the bar controls and the ECU doesnt like having a soft start balast like all HID's have and it will cook your ECU im going through it right now on my 749. Sucks cuz they look amazing with the projectors and fit a ducati.

They're not HIDs....they are halogen projectors, nothing special. If they were HIDs they would have to shoe-horn in the ballasts somewhere. Pretty much every bike now has projectors.

They ARE HIDs, and they DID shoehorn in the ballasts somewhere inside the fairings. They are 10,000 Kelvin, as the description states, which would explain the color of the light output. Yes most bikes nowadays have projectors, But Halogen gas can never come near the color spectrum of HIDs. (not even those "hyper white" halogen bulbs you buy at pepboys)

10K HIDs(Sky Blu light) don't come stock on any cars or motorcycles. Manufactures usually install Halegon bulbs or 6K HIDs( Super White light)

stock its a halogen, through a projector at a point you see purple like and hid, but only at eye level. besides... 10k is a lower level light than a stock 4200-5000k, and the color of light degrades your vision.
