I guess you don't know what a hotswap is. This isn't a hotswap. Hot swapping is replacing the original disc with a burnt disc at the dashboard so that you can install it to hard drive and play the burnt copy. This method is mostly used for modding games, but sometimes for backups.

this wasnt a hot swap. A Hot swap is where you download a modded disc to your hard drive all he did was install it to hard drive.

I've already removed the cover of my drive, but cannot continue as my game disc will fly for not being held down by a (clip)?

1) How do I go about safely removing the clip from the drive Cover?

2) Is there a way to purchase a separate clip?

you can cut off the sticker that holds the magnet in there, thats what i did

Wonderful!...if I do so, will the clip be permanently removed...Will I have to leave my xbox case open permanently, or will I be able to replace the clip despite the removed sticker, and be able to close back my Xbox case. - I'm thinking that the sticker holds the magnet in place, therefor no sicker results in nothing to hold the clip.

Just tried it, and yes it works! I managed to get Halo Wars system link running. I like this because it isn't really piracy (at least...your friend would have to leave his 360 on 24/7 to play his copy) but it lets you use one disc to play syslink with friends (something that the 360 should have built in, like GBA's link cable and DS Download Play).

yeah, you probably could, i haven't tried it but used to mod halo 2 on the original xbox, and i think it could work, if you know what you are doing

you basically just open everything up, open your disc drive and take out the magnet spinner thing, and just save the game one the HDD and play as usual, and while playin the disc will stop spinning and you can take it out, its really not too difficult, message me if you need help

with the new LIVE update, called NXE you can save games to the hard drive, and you can put the box back together but you cant swap it while its closed....
