She is very Brustal this lady but she knows how to conduct an orchestra to within an inch o their lives :)

Her interpretation is very much in tune with the ballet. She manages to transfer the danceability of the piece as a priority and as opposed to a more traditional interpretation by others that highlight the "technique" more. Let's not forget that even classical music evolves and only those artists pride themselves as part of that evolution who ignored the limits of perception.... the way Mahler did.

the start was pretty horrific... it sounds out of tone at times.. at least if you know the sense of Kachaturian's music this may sound out of tone!

God, she's absolutely brutal. Her orchestra actually has to *play* the music - she just has a baton to wave in 1/4. When they hit the end, you can basically hear them trying to punch her in the face in retribution.

I think she gets carried away in rustical claptrap, making this a interpretation a crude and noisy, mostly vulgar one. The inclined listener may want to listen to Khachaturian's own interpretation with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra for comparison.
