Why did Shirou train so hard to become a hero? 3 reasons: to avenge Ilya (she dies after the fate route storyline), to fullfill his fathers' dream of becoming a hero of justice, and, even if the chances were slim, to see Saber again.

Indeed, you cannot say you genericly hate the Matou family for what happened to Sakura, after all, Matou Kariya was, IMO, one of the most heroic magus of the series. He went through the same kind of hell as Sakura, if not 10* times worse because he has no magical aptitude, was only expected to live for a week after the whole thing, but fought on as he was dying in agony all for the sake of winning the Grail to earn Sakura's freedom from his own family.

@deathray797 Indeed, the scene where he killed Saber was easily one of the saddest moments in the storyline, then his oath that no matter what he will have to go through, no matter what he has to forsake and lose, that he swears he will struggle on to find happiness equal to that which he has forsaken. Loved the HF route, just for the inclusion of these absolutly gut wrenching moments, Saber's defeat was bad enough, but having Shirou kill Saber by his own hands was almost too much :(

that´s a beautifull line i got my body chills when i read that with this song the when shirou saw saber past i just cried , and when shirou refused kotomine request for the holy grail and he said " i can´t stray from my path for the people i left behind" is exactly what saber wants the reason to still fight and she knew from that instant what her wish was and her pride for that oath ... just a awesome novel the writter of that has to be proud of his work ,..

Who IS archer when you really think about it? Is he the result of Shirou's love for Saber or Rin? The story is so paradoxical that he could be the result of loving both of them in two realities. But I don't think that's the case. He's not important because he's the main character, he's important because he's the only window we have of the future that was forged by all the characters. Archer wasn't phased by seeing Rin at first but he was stunned when he saw Saber. I think his heart is with her.

@7F0X7 Archer is hinted to be the Shirou of the Fate scenario if he gives up on his search for Saber (eg. the one thing he wanted to do for himself).

Between his reaction to seeing Saber, and the mention that he could do nothing to save Ilya as she died a year after the Grail War (since she only survives in Fate), it really only makes sense if Archer is the bad future of Fate Shirou.

@7F0X7 no, archer really does remenber rin , i´ve played fate stay night novel and i can tell that he will stay with rin because he says something about the house of some manners of rin , in unlimited bladeworks you see at the end that he feels something about her (both archer and shirou) and of course her feelings for him are so obvious because in every posibly way she him from death when lancer barely kill him ....

@7F0X7 Late response, but Archer is actually from an alternate future where Shirou won the holy grail war, so yes, he is indeed Shirou from Saber's route.

I always think about the bittersweet relationship between Saber and Shirou when I hear this. Like, how they both share the pain of an unfulfilled past, troubles overcoming them, and in HF when you have to kill Saber as the ONLY means to save her from corruption D:

Even if you do Saber's route, they still get separated (albeit in a positive and hopeful note). But still T_T

Glad Type Moon was generous enough to give us pro-Saber fans closure through the Realta Nua ending though :D

When i listen to this song, the only scene i remember the most is when Shirou invade the castle to bring Illya back (Heaven's Fell)... she still says for him to leave her, that if she dies she will be able to protect him.... the 3 options that appears are the same "bring Illya back".. man... i'm getting emotional just by writing this..

that scene of emya killing dark saber was sad.. but if you come to think he saved her... when you choose the option save saber and dont kill her sh says : "For the first time i curse you shirou..." ad she didnt wanted to live like dark saber ... in short .. its sad but she is happy when he kills her... Unlimited Blade Works had the second-happiest ending canonically (Rin harem end), so the song didn't actually inspire a whole lot of sadness.

I say second because the Last Episode end in Realta Nua (canon conclusion to the Fate arc) reunites Saber in Shirou in the afterlife. Best ending ever.

Out of all of them, Heaven's Feel is easily the saddest of Fate/ Stay Night's routes. Between Sakura, Saber, Ilya, and the normal ending I felt a need to give up for hours on end. To anyone playing it, keep Caramelldansen on repeat for the entire game.
