This is almost too simple a hack. All it is is just a stripping of all textures and leaving only solid colors.

What would be more impressive is texturing models in a game made for flat colors...say, Virtua Racing, or any other Model 1 Sega arcade.

Supposedly, Sega was going to make Daytona for the 32x. I'm guessing this was what it'd look like. And yes, it could've been done, because Virtua Racing had fewer polygons. Daytona renders 2500-4000 polygons in a scene usually, and the 32x can handle 50,000 polygons. You'd probably only get 15-30 fps with it, like Virtua Racing, but it could be done.

It's a stupidly pointless synonym for 'Virtual'. Many games of the 90s had that in the title. It only served to confuse those of us that didn't know what it meant, or if it was meant to mean something important.

@iammach6 Its a short for Virtual, back in the early 90s 3D games were new and impressive sega used the word Virtua to say its a 3D game to set gamers from 2D to 3D.

I'm not sure how I'd be able to see with that small windshield and rear windshield if there was a car designed like this. The more I keep seeing these arcade videos of Daytona USA, the more I wished the home versions had the same quality. The sound, the better music... and great driving to boot. Always enjoy your racing game videos as a devoted racing game fan.

The music in the arcade was not better than the first Saturn version. Saturn music was how the arcade would have sounded if they didn't have to compress it all into Model 2 midi and short low quality samples.

Really? Very interesting perspective on that. Maybe I just liked how the arcade version's music sounds based on all the arcade version videos I've seen on YouTube including playing on actual Daytona USA arcade units. That was a great post.

I'm not so worried about the graphics-I mean, even if it looks like this, it's a good game. What I'm more worried about is the gameplay, and none of the home versions (except maybe the DC one) have handled anything like the real thing.
