I don't like how modern players have to wear long shirts. These jerseys looked awesome. Anything to separate college football from the lame NFL rules. Defensive linemen, receivers and linebackers wearing low numbers, ripped up belly jerseys, and an all-around better atmosphere for football.
Even Joe Pa said he was the best nose tackle his team has ever gone up against. I forget where i heard him say that-but it came right from his mouth....pretty cool coming from a coach like Joe Pa! Zorich's jersey was always too short-lol! Not sure why!
I met Mr. Zorich at last years Michigan State game, in South Bend...... He was very friendly and shook hands and took a picture with me..... great guy and one of my favorite Irish players ever!!!!! He had a big old cigar and was in a great mood!!!! Excellent with the fans!!!!
Im not sure if people quite understand the ferocity of Chris Zorich, let alone playing nose tackle! If you have ever played noseguard, then you know where im coming from.
After Notre Dame's heartbreaking 10-9 loss, Chris flew home to Chicago to find his diabetic mother dead literally of a broken heart. Chris' mom, his best friend, the woman he called twice a day all through college, the one person he truly lived for, was dead. And in some ways Chris has never been the same.
No sir.....Zorich is meaner and tougher than anyone..... but at the same time a kind gentleman off the field..... He played in the NFL with the Bears and Redskins..... Great intensity on the grid iron....
No, somebody commented he was the best LB, also the short cut off jerseys were the thing in the 90's. It was awesome on hot games

What was the reason for the short Jersey ?
VeteransAgainstKonop 6 months ago
@VeteransAgainstKonop To look bad-ass and rough and to intimidate opponents with their formidable physiques. LOL

Zorich is easily one of the coolest LBs in the college history but sometimes that jersey is just too short.
TheHolloway1983 2 years ago 8
I disagree. The short jersey was cool.

What's the reason for the cut off jersey ?
I think "The Boz" used to play like this, at Oklahoma.
I would think that a t-shirt or muscle shirt under the jersey, would help guard against any serious skin abrasions or turf burns.
Why would someone want to play like this ?
LiptonGuy 3 years ago
It makes it harder for tacklers to get a hold of you. Zorich was one of the toughest players in college FB.
linebacker365 3 years ago
When Chris Zorich came home following an Orange Bowl victory, he found his mom dead (in her home).
Must da been a sad way to come home, following a national championship.

I didn't know about that. That is really sad.
