  • at the 2011 take your child 2 work day, i got to ride in the new one of those

  • Fantastic. V8 bigger is better burger luvn yanks clearly don't like it (yet) but this is very very smart. You can see how little energy it would take to SeagWay commuters around a city with minimal congestion. Looking forward to seeing this trialed in a progressive city someplace. Doubt it will go anywhere fast until oil hit $300 barrel plus though.

  • I'm naked in spa with my girlfirends

  • Ive never seen anything so stupid. Who want one? just seems like another GM shitbox.

  • An electric rickshaw?

  • LOL HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA STUPID THING!

  • it will probably get buried or bogged down in 3 ft of NY snow

  • This thing is way cool. Would be perfect for my 20km commute through the congested Stuttgart area. I WANT ONE !!!!!

  • Yes 10 bags of mulch, 2 bags of lawn food.and 15 landscape timber put in my trash can.i mean segway.leave room for the kids.....its a 2 wheeled unicycle.cars we want to buy ...obama thanks but no thanks.were is my Z 71?

  • looks like a rolling lawsuit in 2 wheels ready to flop you over backwards or forwards

i bet you lawyers will be running after this

  • This is the dumbest POS I think I have ever seen.

Either put 2 more tires on it & call it a golf cart (safer, no power wasted on balancing act) or buy a fucking electric scooter.

THEY won't crash if the computer does...

  • Maybe try being a little open minded?

  • he's actually right

and GM is trying to steal marketshare from THE SCOOTER STORE

  • You ain't getting any pussy in that.

Want a real hard project? Make economical transportation that doesn't make you feel like an economy sized vagina.

  • this is beyond dumb a $100 Wal-mart bicycle can outrun and outdo that thing w/o using a single kilowatt of electricity

this is what GM did with the $15B bailout money ?

    and they're asking for more

wonder what they'll come up with the next round of BAILOUTS !!

  • Until we have thousands of nuclear power plants to supply the clean energy needed to charge these things you're just displacing a carbon footprint from coal, natural gas and oil fired power plants. But go ahead geniuses and build a few million of these toys. Carjackers can't wait to rob you in these.

How about building a 60 mpg 3 cylinder diesel like VW or the 70 mpg hybrid diesel like VW. Audi,Benz have versions.

Keep wasting time GM, I ain't buying toys.

  • Larger power plants generally use their energy more efficiently, reducing the carbon impact of a given quantity of power. Also, the damn thing is so small, it won't demand much power.

Also, so far as nuclear power plants go, they haver this distressing tendency to produce weight that needs to be safely stored for a long time. Like, longer than humanity has known how to farm.

Bikes are better, if you can shower at work. :)

  • Where do I put my groceries in this thing?

  • Remember Transformers this isn't 40 or 50 year old VIRGIN this is 100 year old VIRGIN

  • Cool idea and could work if only these were on the road and no 'real' cars!!! maybe an underground tunnel system just for these....say 6 feet under........

  • I bought one of these from the Scooter Store for my 85 year old grandmother...now she's mobile again!

  • marchera jamais ça ressemble trop à un fauteuil roulent pour handicapé électrique ou pas

  • why! make a 4 wheel vehicle. it wouldnt be THAT much less energy efficient..

  • 4 wheels requires more engineering for the steering were with only 2 u can us a counter rotating system like a tank

  • The segway as a consumer product was a failure, but as a technological proof on concept it's a massive success. The PUMA is merely a tech demo, it's nowhere near ready for production, but give it two years of safety & aesthetics design, you'll have an amazing vehicle.

Average Joe Consumer from Suburbia won't buy one, but Sam the Urbanite who just needs to travel through downtown rush hour just might.

  • The Segway was a failure in every definition of the word. Segway hasn't turned a profit, and won't at this rate. Truly, we all get taht the Gyroscope balance thing is cool. But GET OVER IT for CHRIST'S SAKE. Somebody said they are crash-proof. I assure you that they are NOT crash-proof. The TV and News media had a field day with this darwin buggy...Buy one and never get laid again...

  • The more I look at this early prototype PUMA based on its URBAN application, the better I think the idea actually is.

The average car only has one occupant at any given time. You can park 6 PUMAs in the space of ONE regular car and get 2 PUMAs side by side in each car lane putting a HUGE dent in congestion commute times, fuel use & pollution.

It can go 35 miles at 35-mph for only $0.35 cents!

This may be the answer once this early prototype is "fleshed-out" with full body, doors etc.

  • Make an electric scooter or motorcycle for pity's sake. Not some POS entirely dependent on an electronic balancing system to keep you from crashing.

  • geez did you copy/paste the same thing on a ton of these videos?

  • Can it go up stairs?!!?!?

  • No, but it goes down stairs just fine...I gotta see somebody DUMP one of these garbage cans on wheels....What a ludicrous product concept...Segway, what were you thinking tying this to the sinking anchor of GM???????

  • Wow...it's the consumer stupidity on display in the comments for this video that killed the US car companies. If people would have been forward-thinking and bought more fuel-efficient family cars instead of hummers and their ilk, the US car industry might still be thriving.

  • so you are blaming consumers for the failure of us car companies? you must be an idiot

  • No, you're right, they are not solely to blame. They do, however, need to share the blame.

  • Comment removed

  • I agree with densham76, it is the consumer stupidity and lack of vision being expressed in this thread that points out why consumers are a big part of the failure of the American car industry. The bigger the cars and trucks, the more material, the higher the costs, the more gas, the more ...

Then when we get to see a functioning proof of concept that doesn't look as cool as their current dream ride its bitch time.

  • Classic fuckwad response to the logical man-on-the streets response to a technology solution that no one has asked for...If I want to ride a bike, I can buy one for $60. I don't need some uber fancy two-wheel balancing piece of shit to propell me at a whopping 20MPH...Before you say "but it goes 35", take a close look. NONe of the videos show it going that fast, and anyway,it's just a ridiculous foray into something Gm knows little about....Segway must really be hurting to parner with GM?....

  • Hahaha..IF ONLY the stupid consumer would buy our shit? DOn't they KNOW how much this will save them?...SERIOUSLY... Let's talk about how much of our electricitygrid is supplied by Coal buring plants that pollute far worse than even the combustion engines? If everyone in America bought one ofthese things our carbon footprint would EXPLODE!...We are no longer your sheep!

  • blueskysiii, I have a thought... it's called a prototype and an idea to move forward, not an the final product. If we also start going towards developing renewable power and power at home with clean hybrids we would not need to leverage the Coal burning plants. I agree on the bike, not sure about $60, but that's a good choice.

I still prefer this direction over then SUV.

  • Wow... America fuel companies are amazing at lying to the general public. Even coal plants a far more efficient then combustion engines, the energy is far cleaner when created in mass and the exhaust can be scrubbed. This may not be a very great design, merely a novelty but electric vehicles are none the less more environmentally friendly and efficient then gas or diesel. Btw

  • This thing is a stupid piece of shit. There is absolutely no reason to waste the energy or weight to make this thing balance front to back. If you want a safe, efficient electric vehicle either make it with 4 wheels, or make it an electric scooter.

No fucking wonder GM is getting its ass handed to it.

  • This as opposed to using a bike?

  • I hope this kind of technology develops to have cheaper cars and eco friendly at the same time. And it is an excellent solution for the traffic jams we suffer everyday in our cities!

  • Gee, this will help them out of the jam the UAW put them in. Who the hell wants one of these pieces of shit to drive. Anyone ever notice how dangerous it is on the roads? Is the first model going to be named the "widowmaker".

  • So,now they're going to ruin Segway too!

  • segway was already ruined: by being the most impractical mode of transportation since the skateboard.

plus you could make one yourself with a kit for a fraction of the cost. i just don't care enough about it to buy one

  • nice wheelchair gm

  • Great toy for the idle rich, totally impractical and unsafe for transportation. Hey, a NEV would be cheaper, safer, and have room for groceries and 4 seats!

  • Death trap. Plain and simple. High winds rain and ice= dead people.

  • Crunch GEars...Thats the name of the promo company that posted this video..good name...

  • I feel sorry for all the GM employees who have to make this crap, GM now stands for GAY MOTORS.

  • I got $20 bucks for the first youtube video of two of these shitty shitty bang bangs running headlong into each other at high speed! This is the funniest excuse for a supposedly serious vehicle, I've ever seen..I hope the Volt turns out better than this abomination...

  • This would work well in a place like Amsterdam. It should come with one-way glass, so people can't see how gay you look.

  • hahahaha....

  • if singapore got this poma car, public transport would be easier..i guess so?xD

  • Dosen't it just make you want to look away? This is so embarassing. :(

  • see the ( 3 wheeled carver car ) it's funnier, and better.

  • Look at him go!!

  • Taking a failed product idea like the Segway and trying to re-sell it by adding a seat, throwing a cage on it and making it more costly is not going to turn it into anything more than it already was - a gadget not enough people want or need. Get a motorcycle or a 3-wheeled car. This is just plain leftovers of a dinner no one cared to eat.

  • When it hits a city pot hole it will go flying this things a piece of junk and a hazard.

  • It is high on the goofball scale, but a few years from now they could have a nice viable around town mobile, the key is hitting the sub $1000 range, to sub for a motor scooter overseas.

You have to think of the chinese markets, we need to sell things to other countrys to get their money to come back to us.

At least they are trying, cut em some slack, they are one of our last big US owned companies.

  • The Segway never took off. In SF I only see them in tour groups at Fisherman's Wharf. Segway hasn't even sold it's project target number in the first year....after 8 years! It's a gimmic that has it's place for people who have trouble getting around (seniors?), getting around on campus or warehouses for employees, etc.

  • That's the best wheelchairs i've ever seem......jajaja Gm better kiss Obama's butt to get another bailout jajaja

  • Great concept! Finally the carts from WALLEE! Now nobody will walk and all the streets will be filled with these pinball machines! The lawyers will have a field day with all the suits these babies are going to produce.

  • And Black Sambo gives GM $BILLIONS of American tax dollars for this crap! This only shows that the new CEO of GM is the same as Wagoner only with a different face. Both couldn't coach a high-school girls volleyball team successfully. LOSERS!

GM means corruption, scandal, inferior autos, discrimination against Americans. Face it, GM is DEAD and doesn't even want to live again given a second chance

  • great concept

  • What a joke....I cannot believe the comments about the "glorified baby carriage" that the new3scaster just labelled it...She said it would fit her tiwm daughters...They are mocking you GM..ARe you CRAZY?...apparently YES!

  • this is why they are a loser what piece of crap

  • The Obama Car will save GM. Right?

  • This is potentially another flop by GM, seems the firing of GM's CEO didn't do much for a company who has lost all scope of common sense. This vehicle is a insurance nightmare, and is a accident waiting to happen. Motor vehicles with that type of speed do not belong on the sidewalk, and its been proven in the past time and time again. However, if you reduce the speed and size this could be good for someone that is somewhat challenged. Otherwise put it in the dumpster and file for bankruptcy.

  • I am watching this on MSNBC and it is hilarious that GM would allow this piece of shit to be associated with them....ALL of the newscasters are panning this, and making fun of it...Twice today on national TV they almost ran over a pedestrian on the sidewalk with this fucked up baby stroller for the retarded...OMG GM, what were you THINKING????Put a fork in yourself...You ..ARE...DONE!

  • This is the dumbest idea from Ford I've ever seen. Is this a joke? GM is already failing to capture the market, and they're joining the company that has already been an utter failure, Segway?

    Is GM WANTING to die?

Where is this crap going to drive, anyway?

It's gonna cause road rage on the streets, and it's too big for bike lanes and pedestrian sidewalks. This thing is going NOWHERE.

I can't believe American taxpayer money is paying for that garbage.

  • They will have to dreate a new lane for this type of vehicle. A L.E.V (light electric vehicle lane). The Metropolitan elite will buy it. I bet they will be alot of accidents b/c this thin requires a clear mind to operate. Not good for American Idol culture.

  • This is a fuckin waste of time if you ask me.

  • I heard through the grapevine that Segway which is financed by Johnson & Johnson went around and bribed 30 states to pass exclusive laws to allow these sinful machines on the street. This will go down in history of poorly concieved invention. Or at least bookmark the fall of modernism.
