I do believe they were the best band after the beatles in the '60s, even better than the stones and the who. too bad they weren't as popular.

The Kinks also influenced other fantastically talented bands such as XTC and Blur. Countless acts have covered their songs including Van
Halen, The Pretenders, Kirsty MacColl ( RIP ), and Roxy Music to name a scant few.

@arnol7608 underrated - never. Great - yes!! Saw a comment recently that discussed the British invasion bands in order of (arguable) importance. Beatles, Stones, Who, Kinks. Again, the order is arguable :).
