Mining in general is destructive to the environment. Gold can be chosen as the blame for this specific example, but the industry as a whole is the concern.
BTW - When the world reserve currency is no longer the US$, there is a big possibility that gold will be some what of the standardized leverage.
Dummy me - liquidated 100% of 2- 401K's into GLT, sold all funds and securities last May and bought gold (760oz) and silver with half it.
Gold price is being suppressed. Won't last forever.
