distance running is not particularly healthy. Over exercise promotes inflammation in the body. Over exercise is an inflammatory condition. In my opinion a raw vegen diet can help over exercise because 1. it is really high in carbs which you obvuiosly need for glycogen stores and 2. heavily loaded with antioxidants/phytonutrients which limit oxidative stress.
Very interesting information, I too am a vegan runner, and I think benefited athletically from my chosen diet despite what ever people have said, if you are into vegan-ism and running check out my blog: veggiefueledrunner.blogspot.com
Before anyone bashes Tim, you should first take a look at the results he's accomplishing at his now 43 years of age on this Raw Vegan diet. This guy is the real deal and one of the smartest, nicest, but also most competitive people you could EVER meet. Listen to him and learn!
@essenesearcher he is an elite distance runner. Show me one elite distance runner thats not thin and weak looking. Tim is actually about 20 lbs heavier than most of his rivals of the same height. His race results speak for themselves.
Not to say that normal fruit and veggies ate bad, they are amazing, but I think spirulina is more nutritious overall, this is just based on my own personal experience... in my personal
I disagree with Tim about super foods. Some "super foods"'might be a waste of money, but ones like spirulina and bee pollen are healthier than any fruit or vegetable I've ever eaten...
I like what he says about a lot of a good thing not necessarily being a lot better for you, A mango now and then is great, but I remember when I was eating fruit like there was no tomorrow. Balance is key. And quality over quantity is the premise of the true concept of superfoods, I'm not sure where he is going with this though :)
I been watching video clips by Tim over the years. I really like him. I'm worried about his health I "think" he needs to add raw milk like Paul did Tim just doesnt look as healthy as he used to look at his eyes.
@luckyfire3 He looks more healthy than 9 out of 10 people you're likely to meet on the street; whilst I agree, I've seen him look even better; many a possibility; is a possibility. Perceiving the lack of dairy in his diet (animal products) as necessarily being correlated with the matter; is patently absurd: the human body is affected by a myriad of stimulus; love, death, meaninglessness, spiritual concerns, etc.
The snake oil salesmen they are talking must be Matt Monarch.
