  • wow, I'm jealous. I want one. Haha

  • @m34nb34n :)

  • May I ask your tuning? Thankyou!

  • @223torvalson Hi, i've tuned the guitar like this: e, bb, Gg, dd, aa. So, the lowest string is G

  • Your Xacaras is excellent, and I have listened to the G major chaconne also. (Didn't I write you about it? I meant to,) I liked it and this piece so much that I forwarded them to a few of my music-loving friends. We'll see what they say... The deVisee is really good - full of life and a real feeling of DANCING! (Quite rare among chaconnes - especially those played on the theorbo.) I must ask you elsewhere about the instrument and your manner of playing it - questions which quite interest me.

  • Yes, Xavier, I have an email address - in fact I have two. The one I like to use most is: violerosviejos@yahoo.com The other is (pls use this if you think I am not receiving your letters): joelvanlennep@gmail.com

It is a pleasure to be in communication with you! There are many lutenists/guitarists/theorbists on the i-net, and a good number of them are competent players. However, I rarely really enjoy listening to them, even though, out of curiousity, I do.

But, you are a real artist!

  • Thanks for your kind remark about my instruments. I'm still learning how to do it. I have to apologize for not remembering Basel - I am always in a hypnotic state when I'm in Europe, for some reason..

I think your (?)Spanish-style Bar. guitar is excellent. I'm envious - who made it?

  • @JoelvanLennep dear joel, thank you again for all the comments. I really apreciate it. I understand you don't remember. We were a lot of new people there. It happens to me when I travel for my concerts. A lot of people say hello and years after I don't remember them unfortunatelly.

Do you have an e mail adress? I can write you there about guitar, technic and everything you wish to know.

Please, if you a have a minute, have a look on the de Visée Chaconne for theorbo, also in my youtube channel.

  • At last the interpretation that makes all the others (and I repeat all!), past and recent, rather redundant. You seem to have awakened the very essence of this music, not to mentioned performed it with such delicacy and poise. Five stars! And my special thanks for not using thumb-under on the guitar ;)

  • Thank you for your kind words. That means a lot to me.

About the thumb, it is just the historical technique, thumb above ;)

  • This is incredible! My favorite interpretation, really!

Apart your album, do you prefer Lislevand's interpretation or Moreno's interpretation?

  • And I forget Hopkison Smith's interpretation of course :-)

  • Dear fredo, thanks for your kind words. All the people you mention are good. I like the 3 of them. Each one has its own personality.

    greetings

  • My god this is fantastic. May I ask what strings you are using? (looks like Nylgut?)

  • Dear GaleoDeus, thank you for your words. I normally use gut strings. In this recording I mix some gut strings with plain nylon. I just did'nt take care about what was I using. The Cds are all with gut strings. Maybe you like the tunning. I use roman tunning, without low D and A and an ocatve on the G.

    Greetings

  • Fantastic piece, I must play it sometime, I also love this instrument. How is it tuned? Do you use special strings? They sound magical. I feel honored to have this video by my humble Sanz, thank you for sending it, respect,

    Gergely

  • Sí, señor. No es frecuente entre los "tañedores" de música antigua que el ritmo sea tan exacto. Un gusto escucharte.

    Rog.

  • Bravissimo !
