  • I always jammed out to this song with my boombox while on my H.S. bus!!! The driver hated it :-))

  • one of my all time favorites...No doubt...

  • AWESOME SONG!!!

  • cool song

  • i would use toyota technology to run over advertising firms and kill them

  • so did she steal that Jeep or lose it to the Repo men?? whats going on there?

and the Cover of the LP refers to this Tony guy hitching a ride on a UFO for the night..why is this about a Love affair?

  • Haven't seen this vid in forever, sure miss those 80's chicks!

    Jman

  • Very little good music came out of the 80's. This song was one of the best of that era.

  • Tony Carey is awesome.

    Planet P Project, too.

    Why Me?

  • wish it was the 80s again...... miss all the good music. glad you posted this thanks!!!

  • @TheMetalman1966 I was 16 when this song came out in 82. People ask me who didn't grow up in the 80's. What was it like? I tell them as many details as they want to hear. Then I usually say. I loved it! And I wish I was back in the 80's!

  • Does he still live in Germany?

  • @douro20 Yes my friend, and shall til the day, check out his website at

    truebeliever.de

    Pinkwrld

  • @thincow12 i would pay good money for a copy of that, west coast summer nights, although mine isnt so bad, and a copy of first day of summer. Many i've had for so long, from norway, sweden, germany, collected over the years, but still worth seeing then and his sound to todays Tony Carey and Planet P Project.

    ciao

    Pinkwrld

  • does anybody have a more prestine video?

  • @thincow12 My friend if i could find one i would have it up, i have had this one and cant find a good copy for years....let me know if you find one,

    Ciao

    Pinkwrld

  • @pinkwrld thanks pinkwrid, it's just that i love this song. It used to ber the openning to friday night videos back in the 80's. thanks for sharing

  • Tony was a member of Rainbow between 75-77 and it wasn't him playing keyboard on "Long Live Rock 'N' Roll". That was David Stone

  • I love the song and the video. Really reminds me of my relationships.

  • Love that Planet P song as well

  • Wow!! Love this song! I have never heard of him before i listened to Planet P Project and his name was mentioned. Where is he from? Here in Norway I guess (almost) no-body has ever heard of him :)

  • This was my jam in 83,on cassette, you kids today with ipods listening to the hip hop

  • This song is bad ass to the max!

  • great song & artist!! she looks like a REAL drama queen!!

  • Would be cool to see this song redone with a modern twist. i think it could get it done.

  • blueslady77 coming from someone who posts videos, (not really videos but sideshows), of Michael Jackson's fake funeral photo, Obama pictures, and a couple Windows 7 screen shots, you saying this is CRAP is amazing.

Kind of like a fly sitting on shit and complaining that the fly next to him farted.

  • haven't heard this song since the early 80's thanks

  • oh the high school days and driving my mother crazy with this song on friday and saterday nights those were the days

  • Ho so 80s!!!!

  • I was 8 when this was a hit. I just looked it up by typing half remembered lyrics from the chorus into google... I didn't remember the artist or song titile, and before now hadn't heard it in a good 25 years. As far as I remember, it was huge... surprised there aren't more versions of it on YouTube.

  • have been a big fan for a long time since this one and a fine fine day and especially teh Planet P Project

  • tune!

  • I remember when this song came out in 82. It was all over the airwaves and MTV!

  • Actually dude, you would have been 5 when it came out haha, and you were lucky to hear this in the 90's. After Tony left the US in 85 for good, both his music and himself were both forgotten. Carey is now back on top of his game, touring with Over the Rainbow, being the original member of Rainbow....my god man, loverboy...whe here in Canada, and myself being a radio broadcaster, and having to play 33 1/3 canadan content music wise, Loverboy was in there, i despise loverboy haha.

    Pinkwrld

  • Well you know,i'm old enough to remember stuff like this but too young to have really been into it or owned any albums from him.I never heard it again after that one time either so all I had was the chorus to go by in my memory. But I always did love 80's music, even when I was a little kid. They don't make music like that anymore. And I actually do like Loverboy.Lol.

  • next album was bigger fine fine day, first day of summer etc

  • Actually, Tony was not an original member of Rainbow. The keyboardist appearing on the first album was Mickey Lee Soule. Tony played on the following two albums, "Rising" and "Long Live Rock 'N' Roll" before being fired by Blackmore.

  • Yes, you are so right my friend, BUT haha, i didnt like his playing at all, so as far as i'm concerned haha, when Tony took the keyboards, Rainbow was born:) Thanks for the note to fans my friend

    Pinkwrld

  • @pinkwrld I heard the solo album on radio station KQRS, Mpls, MN, they played 6 albums at midnight till they ended, dubbed "The 6 Pack", and without doubt, the coolest showcase, where I heard Henley as well, and some other gems like Utopia's self titled three LP disc (I recorded off the air back then as archives)

  • @pinkwrld Is Chiliwack a Canadian band, too?

  • @Gerkinstock They're from Vancouver, if I remember correctly.

  • @pinkwrld Not me, just some of their songs that they tend to play, not the best!

  • I remember hearing this song one time on the hard rock station in Chicago(The Blaze for anybody from Chicago old enough to remember) and it stuck with me to this day. This would've been back in about '91 or '92 when I was only about 15.I been trying forever to find out who sang it.Always thought it was Loverboy.Lol.I miss the 80's.They just don't make music like this anymore.

  • I have this album on vinyl. Anyone remember the song Why Me by Planet P? Tony sang lead vocals.

  • Planet P if I remember was his solo project - he played all the instruments.

  • I remember when MTV played that video,,,somewhere in 1982

  • Just Think he use to play keyboards for Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow ....Great song!!

  • I remember when this song when it came out in 1982. I have the album, it is very hard to find. There is an import CD out there, I have that as well. A classic!!

  • Why does the entrance sound like Dave Edmunds, but goes into a Kiss sound and then ELO in the Chorus?

I remember this song, but barely.

  • oh go away with your rip offf theory. he is an original.

  • might have been bigger in europe but still rocked the hell out of me back then!

  • That song rocks ! Too bad Tony Carey was bigger in Europe than in US, still great song. The guitar riff is awesome.

  • Thanks for the post (I knew he had a video for this song) thank GOD for youtube because nobody plays old videos anymore! I have a friend that might have a clearer version pinkwrld (I'll let you know.)

  • Hey man, would be nice, i've had these for decades and been played a few times, would love to have newer version

Go to my youtube page and theres a link to my new tony carey myspace, just added a Tarot Woman by Over the Rainbow, not a great video, but its there first show. Anyway, get in touch

    Pinkwrld

  • badass porsche

  • Great song great lyrics! The song says it all! I still love this song! I remember when it came out in 82!

  • I used to love this song so much. It gave me a KISS vibe. Tony even sounded a bit like Paul on some notes. Great stuff.

  • drnrg31: never noticed it before but your right, he does sound a bit like paul stanley on this song.

  • Terrible audio...Terrible..Terrible..!!

  • ...and where you in 1982...best i've seen my friend, and yeah audio is bad, West Coast Summer Nights from same album is in much better shape. Hope you enjoy the vids though. Chow for Now

    Pinkwrld

  • Find me a newer one my friend haha, thats the original thats been around for over 20 years, its really hard to find, but i would pay bucks to get my hand on one.

    Pinkwrld

  • gforce4all...You have a lot of nerve to criticize Tony's recordings!!! He is an awesome recording artist .

  • MTV today = Nothing but crappy "reality" shows about spoiled rich b**ches.

    So sad.

  • penaloza7: so true. sad but true.

  • To watch mtv now as opposed to back then it is just a great shame. BAck then all day all night videos. Now total crap...morning noon and night. When I think of MTV back then I always think of the Why Me vidoe and Golder Earings Twilight Zone.

  • Topclass rock! Rock on Tony!

    Hi from Sweden!

  • An even better song than the last...lol

  • I loved The Album cover for this.Hes staring up at a Space ship Saying Wont Be home Tonight

Who Hasnt wanted to make an understatement like that?

  • I just found this video by accident, and I'm so glad! I've been humming this song for 25 years and could never remember who sang it. YouTube and all who post videos rock!

  • Pink, Great video and brings back good memories from the 80's...

    Thanks!!!

  • You've missed so much my friend, and they dont give enough characters to tell you. after leaving us in 86, he lived in germany and recorded many cds never released on this side of the ocean. until 2004 when it all started again with Planet p project new cd, another solo, then in 06 more great cds all available now, however his new cd planet p project - levittown is, besides pink world one of tonys best works of art. come over to myspace page, check out some more

    Pinkwrld

  • Great song... where is Tony Carey now?

  • Another lost classic from Tony, from the good MTV days (when they used to play music - at least decent music anyway!)

    Thanks for sharing Pinkwrld!!

  • I bought this the day it came out. Check out another of his cuts "Vigilante". Also, super!

  • I know everyone say's it but THANKS! So many people have no idea who this guy is. My pinkworld tape (yeah-tape)crapped out several years ago and I cant even find it on the net as regular or pirate. He is so underated. I suggest a newer album "1931-keep dancing". Very good although he does seem to bash legitimate members of the patriot movement here in the states (other side of the mountain). Great album though. Thanks again.

  • Tony had out a music video on DVD. iT IS SO AWESOME!!! I love this video and Tony signed the cover. You really should try to get it. Perhaps from Tony's website or Pinkworlsd may know.

  • Thanx for the Tony Carey videos. He was beyond underrated in the 80's

  • I was just listening to my Tony Carey 'Retrospective' cd & decided to look up his videos...wow what an underated artist!!!! Just think of all the crappy music that was big in the 80's....glad to see other fans posting & still caring about his music!!

  • Glad your enjoying my friend, wish i had a better copy of this vid, great great 80's tune, great artist.

    Pinkwrld

  • I heard this on Ron Gerber's KFAI-FM show "Crap From the Past" today and had to come see the video. I remember this from when MTV used to play "videos." Great song! Too bad none of the commercial "retro" shows play it. Thanks for posting!

  • Wish i had a better copy of it, but i've had since 82 haha, there are others like the Pink World vids are still in great shape and Why Me for as old as they are, almost 25 years since, They have been so hard to find over the years, but i did scrounge a couple, the track West Coast Summer Nights was the second video from this disc, thats here as well. Later

    Leonard

  • Tony is nothing, if-not WAY-cool! Again, 5 stars and thanks for sharing, pinkwrld!

  • god love you leanard, please keep the toney carey , planet p stuff comin, ...he wont tour the states so we need anything we can get

  • Hey jeff things are changing my friend, Tony now wants to tour US and is planning his move back to California....so there hahaha....now we on the other side of the pond, can get to see him again, oh and with rock band, not just him...full kickin show.

    Leonard

  • She is a hottie ! at least back then!
