Does anyone happen to have a tape of a contestant named James McDoanld from these Pyramid shows in the mid-1980s? He's the preacher of a Christian radio program called "Walk in the Word," and he mentioned his appearance on one taping. The word he was describing to the panelist was "revolution," and he used music from the Beatles song. He didn't use "The American..." because he's a native of Canada.
I don't have a tape, but go to his website (type his name, then slash, then classics_gameshow (dot)aspx) and...voila! As far as full shows, James doesn't appear to have that...just clips of himself. ;) Great guy though regardless!
To have a game like that is just incredible; these are excellant game players but who would have expected anything less since this is the primetime version and it's for more money. I know Mary feels bad and it really does hurt at a time like that to say something like she said. I must say The $100,000 Pyramid has the same level of everything as the CBS version; only with more excitement and cash.
Hey, Josh, I just got done watching episodes of "Super Password" that I taped a while back with Rebeca Arthur & Tom Poston (that had Marilyn Evans as a contestant), and here are some facts about Marilyn as a contestant on "Super Password":
She was on for a total of 3 episodes, and was in 3 games.
By the time she appeared on "Super Password" she was now studying Real Estate.
Her grand total on "Super Password" was $15,200.
She didn't mention her Pyramid win, but she played Password great.
I love how they were talking about how CDs were becoming more popular than records during that time. Just goes to show you how FAR we've come since 1987.
Though I can see why. They rerun-abused the same 1986-1987 episodes over and over again. You can't air one season into the ground and expect people to watch time and time again
My name is Matt, and I am a HUGE fan of Pyramid. Here is my question: When Marilyn and Mary had their turn for the tie breaker, what was that thing that Mary was stretching in front of her face, or was that just some gesture of nervousness?
Thanks!
-Matt
P.S. Keep more eps of Pyramid coming; I'm always hungry for more of it. ;)
I do. I was attempting to make a joke. I am positive that they never committed rerun abuse. The only reason they would is if they showed a show that only ran one season.
Well, for one thing, her big hair seemed to look a bit longer.
Also, she wasn't the only $100K winner to appear on Super Password. M.G. McCormick was also on SP in June 1985, along with Marcia Wallace & James Widdoes (CBS "Charles in Charge").
I don't know if you know this or not, but Marilyn Evans was also on Super Password in early 1989, along with Rebeca Arthur (Perfect Strangers) & Tom Poston (Newhart) in early 1989. GSN recently aired her appearances for the first time, and she did quite well, though I forgot how much money she won.
You could like... land two planes on Mary's shoulders lol. I mean, nothing against her at all, she's gorgeous, but the shoulder pads! Man, those '80s... lol.
Wow......what an absolute DOG that Mary Cadorette was. Such a shame........
(And YES, for those of you unable to pick-up on EXTREME sarcasm, that was a COMPLETE JOKE !!!)
What a B - A - B - E !!!!!

Mary read the word "dryer," because she disqualified, but Scott wins $5,000.

Well, she didn't exactly say it, but she said enough of the word to get cuckooed.

I know, right? Oops, this episode IS from the 1986-87 season. My bad lol. I'll post some 1985-86 once I find some. :)

She was just crossing her fingers for good luck. Plus, yeah, she was kinda nervous looking. :)

That's one thing I don't like about GSN. The fact that they rerun abuse most of the game shows they air! I wonder, did USA do the same thing?
DorvellTStewart 2 years ago 2
No, they did not! USA is too patriotic to do such a thing!
