  • you can nail fast an do a good job aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • ive shingled for 35 years, and this guy is smart..he's working sitting down. All these young prima donnas that work bending over wont be able to stand up straight in 10 years.

  • Good thing the video sucks. His stagger is retarded and his gun should not have a guide because you'd being so slow. Just requires a bit of skill to keep straight course lines!!

  • For those booing about speed and accuracy...please take that vast knowledge and prettyboy speed over to a volunteer program and lend your talent. Help fix your community in your spare time.

  • bostich guns.. jokes

  • 5 nails is pushing it, this roof will blow off with 4, and he IS going super slow, I hate when new guys skuff up shingles from staying in one spot too long on a hot day, a good roofer can go fast and do a quality job. I don't care for the eyeball work he's doing either, that nail gun should have a guide on it, that keeps your row from dipping and having to be measured and chalked as much.

  • Doing just 5 nails is pushing it, this roof will blow off with only 4, and he is going super slow, and slow doesn't have anything to do with quality, sometimes the less time that you spend in one spot the better, I hate when new guys skuff up shingles on a hot day from sitting too long in one spot. A good roofer can do a great job and go fast at the same time.

  • 4 nails in standard application 6 in high wind.

  • People still use only four nails per shingle?

  • does it make a difference if using the hammer versus using the gun? someone told me it was but i wasn't too sure about it. Anyone know?

  • @Moraleg1 Use a gun. Hand nailing takes forever and with sheathing there is too much bounce when nailing. I think a gun does a better job.

  • gman i do believe you that u dont laid shingle aint nothin wrong with speed and quality if u set the gun to the proper preasure

  • helloooooooo is 6 nails mister

  • guy needs pick his pace up!!! you gotta be careful but not that dang slow.

  • This fat white dudes knows what he's doing. He actually putting the nails over the notches, rather than shooting nails wherever just to be fast. I'd rather have his chubby ass work on my roof than the fast sloppy teens.

  • in germany we working not with shingles, this is not good quality !

we work with tile and natural slates, this consists 30 - 100 years !

but it is artlessly dearer ..... but mutch few repair !

  • Neat work done. Great video!

  • Hey, if your good, you can go fast and still make a roof look nice, and doing 2 rows is rookie, if you cant keep 1 row straight at a time after doing it a while, you need a head examanation....

  • well guys dont forget the guy in the video looks like 50+...., so if hes been doing this for 30 years he probly cant move any faster than that anymore. lmfao....

  • @TehKazangsta, I agree. Anyway speed isn't as important as quality :)

  • this guy just nailed 5 shingles in 30 sec.

that means 10 shingles in 60 sec or 1 min or

    600 in 1 hr. x 8hrs = 4800 shingles

    4800/22 pcs bundle = 218.18 bundles

    that means 218.18 bundles / 3 = 72 sq.

    is that slow?

  • @2miangels Makes sense. I'm going into Grade 12 then off to college for an apprenticeship in roofing, All I can say is when I'm certified, I'll be going probably a bit faster than this guy but not at a super speed, thats sloppy. All these comments saying he's slow, I believe if you go too fast you'll be a hack job.

  • USEN MATERIAL BUENO EL 11 NO SIRVE SE DEVE DE USAR 30

  • @CrazyAri33 conozco el#15 ,#30,#43 ,#75 ,#90 roll roofing pero nunca he escuchado del 11 .

  • I don't normally install shingles but I don't think he's going too slow, if you have a need to go faster than that, I can see why so many new construction roofs fail within the first 7 years, you have Speedy Gonzalez from Guadalajara shooting nails through the roof and subsequently through the shingle. But that's what it comes to in this country how much $ you can make, not if you can make a quality product.

  • @gman2000 "this is coming from a guy that probly has all mexicans working for him"... good job brother!

  • My 1 year old daughter can slap shingles on faster than that.

  • Putting that first nail in before positioning the shingle will cause it to pivot, thus leaving a space between them.Use the gauge dude. Hes slow, but a least hes not wasting time putting down and picking up the gun.

  • @kizzie48 it just his style of roofing , I respect that

  • Are you looking for quality concrete roofs? Look no further, just go to TILE-MOLDS . com and I promise that you simply won't

    regret!

  • wow he so slow lol...lmao if i would go at that speed. it would take me 30 minutes to finish one bundle lmao

  • i have been a roofer 4 10 years and im only 26 if you want to make money you need to move FASTER.

  • give me a job and ill show you fast roofing ;)

  • @mrliam911 Shit for an overweight, old, fat guy he's doing great genius.Wait till u hit 50 bitchboy- Ur not going to be moving any faster than this guy dummy. lol And if u have been a roofer since 16 then u r 1 braindead fuck. LOL

  • @mrliam911 roofing is not about trying to impress everybody u won't be able to do it,this guy is so far better than others "fasters roofers' , the 4 nails are evenly installed along the shingle and nails are also right on the nailing area.

I bet this guy can install easy between15 to 20 sq. a day on that speed.

  • @mrliam911 roofing is not about speed .if about doing the job right and avoid call backs.

  • @mrliam911 I agree, he must have heaps of cash in the bank to move that slow. I hate shingling that way too, I prefer the Rake method, a pack every 5 minutes on average if you set yourself up right. Fill in the Valley's last if you can, make your money 1st

  • @mrliam911 nope i would fire you! Would rather have someone take there time and do a good job then to move quickly and screw my roof up 10 years down the road because of speedy installation mistakes. Its not about speed, its about quality, he nails in the right place, adds 4 to each shingle!

  • @DaShadowInc I agree...a quality job is whats best for everyone in the equation, the customer, the company and the employee. 7 years strong and still running for my company, no signs of slowing down or compromising quality for speed.

  • @mrliam911 Not when your the owner. =]

  • @mrliam911

You are the reason why smart contractors pay their employees hourly so that time is taken, nails are properly placed and an overall better quality job is done. What does an extra two hours matter when the roof will be there for 30?

For an older gentlemen, it looks like he moving well.

  • .. Im putting a comp roof on my log cabin, 1/2 of our tar paper sat on the roof unprotected and unfinished for 7 months and developed a few small holes, I planned on patching it or replacing the tar paper but a kid went out there trying to help and nailed 200 bucks worth of comp on top of the questionable tar paper, should i tear it all off and start over?

  • It's really the felt paper that will keep your roof water tight. The manufacturer recommends that, when exposed to the weather, the felt paper should be replaced after 90 days.

  • thank you... the parking spot is a mile and a half from the cabin site, if i cairfuly pull the nails out without damaging the comp, can i reuse it?

  • Yes. You can reuse the shingles. Use a flat pry bar. Slide it under the shingle, under the nail, and pry it up.

  • i think your roof should be fine, if you start to notice leaks in your house then you should probably start it over

  • It's not the nailing pattern that'll cause that roof to leak. It's perfectly acceptable.

What will cause that roof to fail is the design of the shingles (no tar strip to tie seal the lower edge of the shingles at the bottom).

As for his technique? Safe, more likely than not nailing every nail right where it belongs.

Me? Yes, I'm faster, but it took me a few weeks to honestly be able to be fast AND accurate. And I'm proud of that.

    :^)

  • @TemplarRican what do you mean with no tar strip to tie seal the lower edge.......

this kind of shingles has better glue than 3-tabs and the glue ison bottom edge underneat the shingle, and the "tar strip " is not to to water proof purposes is for wind resistance

  • With that nailing pattern, I pray they ain't expecting too much rain.

LOL! And, three tabs at that.

  • if the roof don't leak who gives a damn how slow or fast you are at installing shingles.

To be honest, fast installers screw up more than slower installers.

  • Good job. he is Smart he has knee pads. gotta give a big guy Props for Roofing tho. and another thing while doing nice designer shingles would be Gauging your Air nailer so U dont have to drop your gun and take 3 sec to put a shingle on it will only take 1.5 seconds yo

  • wow... it would so totally suck to have a job where every second counts. kudos to roofers

  • i can hand bang faster than this guy, some of the guys at work can't believe i dont like using the air nailer. I think that air nailer is a waste of money and a safety hazard(the cord is constantly in the way sometimes.) Theres 3 shinglers, i'm one guy that shingles but uses hammer and nails, yes i'm aware I'm proud of this.

  • I don't mind the air nailer, we use the hatachi ones, but the hose is still there. my first year as a labourer i got to help alot since i was quick cleaner and had to use hatchet and nails for the whol year.

  • You are a fuckin idiot.Keep up the work cavemen. You a sidejo scab.

  • Stock your line on the finished side and it will never be in the way. Stock ammo between each bundle, and you can ditch the belt if your gun has a flat top for pop-ups. See my vids to learn how to do the tear-offs

  • hes slow lol
