  • Every electric guitarist in the world brought me here.

  • John Mayer brought me here

  • Who would dislike this?

  • For those who have never heard Jimi's work before, this should be their first listen.

  • THOSE WHAMMY BENDS AT THE END ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • definitely electric not acoustic

  • Beautiful to hear this with just guitar!

  • This must be my favorite studio recording hendrix ever did. No other guitar piece has move me more than this one. Oh and this isn't a stuio demo, he was just showing the song to Eddie. According to the 2000 boxset, he and mitch did two formal takes after this one.

  • john frusciante brought me here

  • @SkakajiciOpicka Me, too! =]

  • I really like the pic.

  • only wish the track was longer......

  • He Actually was playing a Tuba here, really!

  • This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music/guitar playing I've heard. Jimi could do all the feedback, distortion sick playin like you'd never heard, but then he could play something like this.

Incidently Is it a coinsidence that one thing all the greats seem to have in common is real feel and soul?? Hhmmmmmmmm

  • Can you hear the sun dancing with the moon through a purple sunrise? Jimi was an outstanding composer.

  • Nice nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • been looking for this version for some time now! is tremello the effect on his guitar //?

  • Hes now playing that song with god in a beatifull place smoking weed every day!!! Love you Jimmi!! ;)

  • @easterheaven eh, i dont get why people associate him with drugs all the time...

  • @WALLAH00F Really... you don't?

  • @Blasfuhmee well yeah, I've seen documentaries were all his friends were talking about him, they always say somthing like "Ever since Jimi died people have thought that he was a Dark, Troubled character, in fact he was anything but that. I think of Jimi I think of him with a smile on his face" - Chas Chandler

    And there's :

"A lot of people thought that, it was like a real party seen round Jimi, like all, girls, drugs getting high....no, it was real quiet and thoughtfull" - Mike Finaginn

  • Years ago I had a bootleg tape of this and other amazing unknown recordings (really not the usual songs in alternate versions and takes). This song was on it and I loved it untill the tape got stolen in Prague. Does anyone know the name of the whole german bootleg record? Because it was a copy from a vynil record...

btw Hendrix still lives (in Amsterdam). His death was set-up as he never wanted to do anything commercial ever again ;)

  • @SnoepLaak he was killed, 2 or so people drowned him with wine. Bet you it was eric clapton and pete townshend, they were so jealous at how good he was, but i heard that he was drowned on a doc.

  • R.I.P.

  • Didnt listen to this in ages and I had forgotten how epic it was

  • Comment removed

  • I prefer this and a "jazzy version" (which has unfortunately evaporated from YT) to the original.

  • Miss you everyday James (Jimi) Marshall Hendrix.

    R.I.P.

  • @nimrodlev333 I feel the same way, I never met him but I feel like i have knowing him from a long time ago...so sad..

  • who did that artwork?! :D it's amazinggggg!!!!

  • ups and downs

  • this is sooooooooooooo chill !!!!!!!!

  • any idea where i can download this?

  • Just enjoy it ya (fill in the blank now)

  • If he hadn't been murdered that would've been a beautiful single, with added lyrics etc....

  • @vvvq9 i dont no if you think theres some conspiracy or something but he died from choking on his own vomit after taking to many sleeping pills

  • @vvvq9 just gonna go ahead and say it... uhhh, this is a "single" as you put it. There are lyrics, and the song is called electric Lady Land. He also wasn't murdered, since he chose the drug lifestyle for himself.

  • @Cenelder lol. well if you believe HE drank himself to death then you dont believe he was murdered. but some people believe his manager killed him and the large amounts of wine in his body was a cover-up

  • Honest to God, I daresay this is the closest thing I've ever heard to the sound of love.

  • Anyone know where to find this recording, aside from using 'get tube' or something ? Been hunting for this for a while !!!

  • @TheJeebieJar grooveshark has it

  • I wish that there was a t-shirt with that picture on it.

  • This is definately NOT acoustic.

    But extremely good stuff!

  • im in love with his tone\

  • Comment removed

  • It really bugs me that almost every Hendrix song posted here on YT that has Acoustic in the title is never just that. Its not that hard to tell the difference folks! You'd think a Hendrix fan would know the difference.

  • beautiful

  • Thanks for posting this. Listened this like 25 times today

  • Che tenerezza quella voce timida, quasi da ragazzino che per la prima volta entra in uno studio di registrazione con il suo pezzo... Il più grande chitarrista di tutti i tempi!

  • that was no acoustic. frusciante is my fav and hendrix is his

  • Kinda like the first 32 seconds of Little Wing...

  • @jfaltis

that's what i was thinkin lol

  • It's amazing how he can put so much feeling and emotion into a song that's just barely over a minute.

  • great clip but that isnt acoustic, man.

  • @davidkeys100 but dude it wouldn't surprise anyone if jimi could make an acoustic sound like that

  • @jimmer0707 Probably.. But this is just a strat. ;-)

  • Where can I get this in a good mp3?

  • it comes from the heaven

  • its just simply beautiful

  • Simply beautiful....

  • This is NOT acoustic he play a strat here!

  • @pleximanic define acoustic wise man, hes got it right.

  • @MINDCONTROLLEDLOVE an acoustic guitar with a tremolo bridge, yeah right!

  • @MINDCONTROLLEDLOVE An acoustic instrument is a instrument that does not produce, or enhance the sound electronically!

On the other hand a Stratocaster is not just a electronic guitar,it is first and foremost a acoustic instrument, not a very loud one but still an acoustic instrument!

So i guess he got it right in saying it is a acoustic guitar!

I wasn't thinking straight, sorry mate about that!

  • @pleximanic no

  • @madambuttahfly No WHAT?

  • @pleximanic i think acoustic means that jimi is playing just the guitar without the band

  • @DuDuHDify Have you missed many lessons in school or are you just stupid?

    Educate yourself dude!

  • @pleximanic why the title says acoustic? do you hear any acoustic guitar in the vid?

i'm just suposing that the guy who posted this meant that there is only the guitar playing.

don't offend just because i did express myserf wrong

  • @DuDuHDify it means acoustic guitar you imbecile

  • @f3l18ipsk8ermm i know what the fucking acoustic guitar is you dumb ass

do you hear any acoustic in the song? i just don't understand whi the title says acoustic

  • @DuDuHDify well its pretty obvious that whoever uploaded this video thought this was done on acoustic guitar because no one thinks that acoustic means "without a band" except for maybe you, dumbass

  • @f3l18ipsk8ermm Ok I'm stupid.

    Let's stop the conversation.

  • @pleximanic

he means that there is no singing or drums just the guitar

  • this song is the reason why i picked up a guitar

  • Where did this painting come from?

  • that's such a great picture you have up there, really captures what Jimi's music was all about, peaceful, cosmic bliss and artistic expression

  • Such fluency in his playing here....its showcases his unique style...brilliant.

  • Any guitar players find it possible not to pick up your guitar after hearing this?

  • This was on an album called Loose Ends which was all of the out takes from Electric Ladyland. It was included in a 10 album vinyl set titled Jimi Hendrix released by Polydor years ago.

Listen to the Electric Ladyland "official version" and then this - pure magic.

  • Such great controll.

  • so stratsy

  • Pretty, but VERY ELECTRIC...

  • most beautiful hendrix recording i've ever heard

  • true mark of a genius

    who left us too early

    and never will be match

  • jimmy thanks for this piece of art

  • Put a smile on my face straight away. Its so beautiful

  • jimi hendrix was and still is one of the greatest musicians to have ever lived.

this is real music, none of that new bullshit hiphop people be listening to now.

nothing or anyone else could ever be compared to jimi hendrix.

  • this is the exact version i was looking for amazing

  • amazing song

  • The bit around the 1:00 mark - Absolutely stunning

  • there was an amazing outtake from this song with backwards guitar on it, but the only place ive heard it was on the classic albums documentary, has anyone got it uploaded?

  • @woodros urgh, i've heard the same outtake but i never knew the name of it, i just realised now that it was this song!! oooh, i'd love to hear it again

  • Jimi Hendrix is the only being who could do everything better than Chuck Norris.

  • John Frusciante said it was one of his favourite song by Jimi in an interview for Dutch Tv

  • @keitaro21 Yep!

  • @keitaro21 yeah he actually plays a tape he has, with this exact version in the interview

  • this is one of my three fav

  • trying to figure this shit out by ear is the hardest thing i've ever done

  • @lonewolf604 yeah lol, im trying gotten up to.... 0:37

  • godddddd ! :D so hard to follow. So beautiful

  • If this gets a thumbs down, im gonna hack youtube and find the asshole who did it!

  • someone said it best on another upload of this version,What a mind this man had" tremendous.................

  • @bajsibyxan1 this version of electric ladyland is on the hendrix box set

  • JIMI ... PreciouS SOUL ... where are YOU flying NOW ? ... 40 years later ...

  • you just can't do better

    we love you Jimi

  • ha .this piece of music illustrates perfectly how the universe connects through jimi hendrixs soul and guitar playing, and jimi will never be overrated. he is truly the greatest .. :D

  • Is this version on the record Electric Ladyland? If not, on which record is it present?

  • Most beautiful guitar art ever

  • jimi is good but he's somewhat over rated

  • @Dessyman18 without him most of the guitarists u consider great wouldnt have even thought to pick one up. inovation is the key to his greatness

  • @thepurplepuf thanks for being respectful and i see your point

  • beautiful, but not accoustic, can't recall hearing this version, that's definitely,.. a fender stratocaster (electric) guitar...he's playing with clearer tone than you are used to hearing,

  • It's terrific to hear a song in development like this. No effects. Just a nice clean guitar sound for a gentle song. Nice.

  • I want the picture in the video as a mural on my wall

  • When John Frusciante was around 20 he thought (and maybe sill think) that this was the most beautiful thing he had ever heard, I don't blame him

  • Comment removed

  • what ? XD jimmy was so high , but still playing like a god

  • This is absolutely my favorite version of Jimi's Electric Ladyland. I remember listening to this on vinyl way, way, way back when...

  • honestly i think john frusciante is the only guitarist alive today who has that feeling hendrix has. you know, its so inspiring you cant help but pick up the guitar. so beautiful

  • i was really high when i first heard this and it made me cry. it was the most beautiful music i had ever heard

  • No shit Sherlock

  • My boyfriend dedicated this song to me....

  • it puts you in a trance like state. even when ur nt under the influence of drugs

  • The master himself at work.......fantastic

  • i honestly wish ppl played the guitar like this,.

    then again.

    im trying to.

with that same. unforgettable energy sound and feeling.

    check it out brothers.

  • AWESOME

  • Jimi was like young Mozart at this time. He was definately one of the best american composers of all time!

  • bro where do i download this masterpiece?

  • @eriktrrs

    youtube downloader is an option

  • vibes:)

  • i would cut off my dick to see jimi hendrix performing live this.....A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!

  • maaaaannnnnnn this takes you way in space.... they music is powerful well there right this song is proof that music is powerful

  • Sorry. It's not rare if it is on youtube but it is awesome!!!

  • @jiveafro It is rare to find records with this on it...

  • were did you find the illustration. its really groovy

  • lots of people on youtube can play this pretty well,BUT jimi created this.its alot harder to create something beautiful than copy something beautiful.thats where the separation occurs between jimi and the rest.......

  • listening to this kinda makes me want to punch my monitor because he's gone. im not sayin its not good. its amazing

  • Does this song have been release on a cd ?

  • @fleuryy7

Yeah an album with the same name

  • There was a 4cd box set that came out about 10 yrs. ago. I still have it, came in a purple velvet box. Had some unreleased stuff and some killer instumentals, including this one.

  • There is so much spirit and soul in this and so man levels it is mind boggling. Jimi is on a level that none will touch Via, Sach,Stevie Ray ...no one.

  • If Vai were a movie he would be "Transformers". Jimi would be "Gone With The Wind", "Casablanca" etc...

As a painter, Vai would create REALLY AWESOME stick men. Jimi would be like da Vinci or Picasso.

That's the difference between Jimi and the rest...

  • @powerlifter501 you speak the truth

  • @powerlifter501 and in music, Vai would be Vai and Hendrix would be Hendrix.

  • @powerlifter501

You cant compare them, man... jimi was the first one, nobody played like him, if not jimi everybody would probably be playing the shadows on guitars, vai and jimi are totally different, not mentioning srv, eric johnson, emmanuel.... just dont compare ; )

  • @grzana2429 Your forgetting Early blues , where a lot of players get their roots even thought Hendrix is The BEST he isn't the First

  • @powerlifter501 MAN YOU SAID IT RIGHT POWERLIFTER501!!!!

  • @powerlifter501 - couldn't agree more. A lot of the virtuoso guitarists like Vai, Satriani, Yngwie, etc. are technicians - they focus on their profound knowledge of musical theory, which allows them to create technically stunning music...but it lacks the depth and creativity that Hendrix possessed, because Hendrix wasn't confined to that box - he just wanted to create the sounds he heard his head, and he had such a natural connection to his guitar that he was able to do that.

  • @powerlifter501 oh really? except Vai has a musical degree, can shred, sweep, tap, skip sweep and pick tap and hendrix wasnt able to do any of these! i dont want you to start arguing with me bu i just wanna say that technically, jimi was not a strong guitarist...

oh and btw transformers is one of the best movies ever so if you tried to say that casablanca, gone with the wind or whatever are better, i dont agree with you :P

  • @KingOfShadows1500 Yes, but bare in mind hendrix is a 60's guitarist! of course he isn't 'technically' still going to be the best, he is the most soulful, guitar has evolved a hell of alot since 67, resources are available everywhere now. he laid down techniques for future players to expand upon.

  • @MrMemis vai is more soulful...

  • @KingOfShadows1500 .........have you heard any hendrix!?

  • @MrMemis yes, have you heard any vai?

  • @KingOfShadows1500 Yes I have, he certainly isn't more soulful

hendrix- bold as love-,castles made of sand, little wing, like a rolling stone, (both) angel, burning of the midnight lamp, machine gun, foxy lady, little miss lover, hey joe, hear my train a comin',crosstown traffic. A few of the massive catalogue of hendrix songs.

    Not to mention him live

  • @MrMemis in my opinion, vai IS more soulful than hendrix by far! just look at his face while he`s playing! the emotion can make you cry! for the love of god, tender surrender, whispering a prayer, hand on heart, brother, sisters and alot more are vai`s songs that combine great feeling, technique, masterful musical knowledge and huge composer skills. you should listen to them!

  • @KingOfShadows1500 I've always been put off by the faces Vai pulls while he plays, I know he probably can't control it though.

  • @nw781 the faces he makes show how much emotion he puts in his work!

  • @KingOfShadows1500 the faces that he makes are awkward. you're one of the only people who thinks vai is more soulfull than hendrix.

  • @nankerphelge718 the faces he makes are epic and full of emotion and i dont give a fuck about what people think. its pretty obvious that vai is way more emotional than hendrix! just listen to Hand on Heart or Whispering a Prayer: these songs could make you fucking cry!

  • @KingOfShadows1500 no they bore me

  • @KingOfShadows1500 lol you're on a Hendrix video trying to convince people Vai is more emotional. I don't know how it's so much more obvious to you but i don't care what he puts his songs sound mediocre at best.

  • @powerlifter501 friend, that second allegory there was VERY good. Only Vai's stick men would have no soul. You forgot that bit :)
