  • first i thought it was an old man in a rocking chair who had a brain esplode, then i thought it was some diabolical train. then it was uhm..

  • @vevovy Ha! I can see all of that now, though I never would've otherwise. :^)

  • ... Your handwriting upside down is better than my handwriting right side up.. Congrats.

  • @thatsabigmanatee ˙ǝǝʇɐuɐɯƃıqɐsʇɐɥʇ `ɥɔnɯ ʎɹǝʌ noʎ ʞuɐɥʇ

  • 3 People Have Monsters In Their Closet...

  • @Zizpo69 Ha! Yeah, I suppose so. :^)

  • Alright, I have to ask, how do you draw upside down?!

  • @RageTreb It's done purely to show off, RageTreb. :^D It's not that hard, actually. It's really just a matter of staying focused.

  • @StefanGBucher i have to ask can i rob you off all your art supplies

  • @dogdaxter No! I need those! :^D But they're not fancy, so a matching set won't set you back that much.

  • @StefanGBucher wannna send me a list of the supplies that you start with?

  • @dogdaxter Scroll down two comments. :^)

  • Your style is great. What pens and inks do you mainly use?

  • @DungeonsDeepRecords I mainly use Faber-Castell PITT artist pens, Prismacolor Premier pens, Staedtler pigment liners, Tombow ABT pens, Sharpies (fine point and wedge tip), and Yasutomo Sumi ink on regular old uncoated bond paper. :^)

  • @StefanGBucher Thanks for the response. Have you tried the Sharpie pens yet? They are really cool...way better than the fine points and they don't bleed.

  • @DungeonsDeepRecords They sent me one a while back. The brushed metal numbers? They still bled a bit too much for me. But I"m eager to try it again. :^)

  • I love the sound it makes when your filling in with the sharpie, it's music to my ears.

  • I love the sound it makes when your filling in with the sharpie, it's music to my ears.

  • @snownlystupid Totally a happy accident! When I fiddled with the camera setup it went away for a while, and I really had to work to get it back. I lost it entirely on one clip, and actually taped it separately, doing homemade foley effects. :^)

  • Stumbleupon led me to this... I do the SAME thing with ink on canvas (the splatter effect... by blowing with a straw.. not the monsters).

I was wondering what kind of ink you use, how you apply it to the paper, and what you blow the ink around with?? Thankssss (:

  • @wolfii777 The secret ingredient is compressed air from a duster can. Beyond that, I use Faber-Castell PITT artist pens, Prismacolor Premier pens, Staedtler pigment liners, Tombow ABT pens, Sharpies (fine point and wedge tip), and Yasutomo Sumi ink on regular old uncoated bond paper. :^)

  • you are absolutely amazing. so inspiring and creative!! im impressed and officially subscribed KEEP IT UPPP :)

  • @acegrayinshay Thank you so much, acegrayinshay. :^)

  • how do you get that splash effect at the beginning?

  • @jtmcmahon5862 The secret ingredient is compressed air. A duster can from the office supply store. :^)

  • Its crazy how you answer to a lot of comments ! And i think people love to comment on your videos because they know you will read them and probably reply to them ! Continue your good work sir !

  • @qcking666 Nothing. ... Total silence. ... Just for irony. (Also, thank you. :^)

  • how do you let them move?

  • @FrankBaeumle The software is called Anime Studio.

  • wow youre good!!

    more please :D

  • @MsRosette99 Why thank you very much, MsRosette99! You're very kind. Check back next week, please. I'm putting the finishing touches on a little something right now. :^)

  • I want that monster in my house. Its cute (I have really weird mind.....) :D

  • @Mewalnut This is one of my favorites, too. :^)

  • OH OH I know that monster. He is my neighbor. XD

  • @iPhoneIenohPi He is?! Wow! You line in an interesting neighborhood, iPhonelenohPi! :^D

  • This was always one of my favorites.

  • @PunkyPenguin Thank you, DB! Mine, too! I'm glad you still dig it. (And I just looked: You can get a used copy of the book in very good condition on Amazon for under 7 bucks including shipping right now. Sometimes there are crazy 1 cent sales, too. Keep an eye out. :^)

  • @bubblehobos Oh thank you, bubblehobos! :^)

  • you are my hero!

  • @Msbandgeek100 Oh, thank you so much, Msbandgeek100. That's very kind of you. :^)

  • 2 things:

1st - at 0:24 it looked like some sort of Tiberium monster (from Command and Conquer)

2nd - INCREDIBLE JOB!! I love watching your videos!

  • @awesomemann1234 Thank you so much, awesomemann! I'm glad you dig it. I do not know the Command or Conquer, but I'll take that as a compliment, too. :^)

  • @StefanGBucher It's a compliment :D

  • How do you start the drawing?.. what ink is that?

  • @gaaraxpotatopie That there is sumi ink. Blown upon with a duster can. :^)

  • WHOA!! thats freakin AMAZING! you should open an art class or school or something in that genre haha, thats soooo cool! superb job my friend

  • @TheVeteran25011 Oh, thank you so much, TheVeteran! I'm glad you dig the Monsters. I taught for about five minutes in 1999, but I'll get back to it eventually. It's a lot of fun! :^)

  • whats the pen youre using? it draws so smoothly! i neeed it:D

  • @gingerthingx A good pen makes drawing a lot more fun. That's true! :^) I use Faber-Castell PITT artist pens, Prismacolor Premier pens, Staedtler pigment liners, Tombow ABT pens, and plain old Sharpies (fine point and wedge tip).

  • no problem :) love how you reply to people,

just wanted to say how the tiny people suddenly add a whole new perspective to the picture, suddenly showing how big this monster is, what made you make that split second decision? Because its really cool :) this is probably my favorite monster because of this, and ofcourse its general awesomness lol

  • Hello tunafish8D. This one just seemed giant and ancient to me, so I thought "OK. Gotta show his scale." and tiny humans always do that. I later made a version where he actually makes a big THUD sound as he sits down, and then trumpets like an elephant, except with samples and multiplied whale song noises. I just did another creature with little guys on my site. Search for The Daily Monster Papers 35. :^)

  • the most amazing thing is, each one could be in a famous art exhibit some were :D great stuff <3

  • And here I thought your previous comment was nice! Thank you very much, tunafish8D. :^)

  • At first a thought the things on the ground were grass, (they could be) but now i think they are people, anyways, great job, i wish i had art skills like that! Nice work!

  • They're definitely people, elgandos2. Delicious people. 94 doesn't eat them. It just likes to suckle on their rich, briney scalp sweat. :^)

  • i luv ur animal-like monsters, not so much the huminoid ones... but its funny with all teh crazy shoes!!

  • Hello adasdadinator. Yeah, they do have ambitious footwear sometimes. The animal monsters come out less often, but when they do I always like 'em, to. :^)

  • what software do use for give animation to your draws

  • Hello waldigital. I use Anime Studio 5 for the characters and a bit of After Effects to correct color and lighting. :^)

  • Do you draw upside down naturally, or did you just learn to do that for these series? (Many compliments, i love these)

  • Thank you for the compliments, ACslashDC. I'm glad you're enjoying the Monsters. I was only starting to draw upside down outside of this, but I really only learned it for the Monsters. :^)

  • I was wondering, do you have the monsters already planned before you draw? Or do you just go along how the ink spreads out after you blow it?

  • Hello cammigurlgonewild. It's entirely spontaneous. It all comes out of the random ink spread. And the animation at the end comes from that. In the rare instances I've gone in with a preconceived idea it didn't work out at all. The Monsters get cranky. :^)

  • How long did it take you to learn to draw upside down?!???!????!???

  • Hello EdwardianGangster. Once you know how to draw right-side-up it's actually a pretty easy shift. It's just a matter of concentration and flipping the image in your head. Its' really fun, actually! Try it! :^)

  • dude thats awesome you just blow the ink over the paper ive never thought of tht! nce man

  • Thank you, FlyingTomatoe666. I'm glad you like the method. :^)

  • Whoops! Forgot an "is" there.

  • This guy still my favorite.

    "One... two... three... uhh..."

  • Thank you, glokkpod84. He's one of my favorites, too. :^)

  • thanks for the reply even though it took a month!!!! lol jk jk :P

    keep up the good work

  • Sure thing, thatrooper1. And thank you for your patience. :^)

  • Boy, Tewkao, in two years you're the first person (me included) who sees that. If this bears any resemblance to any anatomy in your life, medical attention may be called for. :^)

  • what kind of markers and ink pens do you use?

  • Hi thatrooper1. Sorry for the slow reply. I use Faber-Castell PITT artist pens, Staedtler pigment liners, Tombow ABT pens, Sharpies (fine point and wedge tip), and Yasutomo Sumi ink on regular old uncoated bond paper.

  • tus dibujos son geniales

  • Muchas gracias, 99matate99. Es muy amable de su parte. :^)

  • sabes español???? oh me respondiste con un diccionario ingles-español en la mano??

  • Me engañó.

  • how did you get the ink to spread like the tenticles and stuff plz tell me

  • It's air through a straw, bradygara14.

  • Dosenlufft. :^)

  • womit wir der sache ja bedeutend näher gekommen wären....dosenlufft also....ahhh ja....schön :)

  • i have got ur book its brilliant look at it everyday it was worth every penny by the way awesome monster!

  • Hello once again, commenter12345. Thank you very much for picking up a copy of the book. That's very kind of you. I'm happy to hear that you're enjoying it. It was a fun book to make. :^)

  • thats my new favorite 1 now

cuz of the lil people thats cool lol

  • I'm glad you like this one, gamerbigb. (This is one of my favorites, too. :^)

  • #94:

    Species: Poozwampit

    Name: Mec-Mec

Story: M-M, as he likes to be called, is worrying about whether he should have a snack or not. One on hand, they taste good. On the other, they keep bringing him their own snacks, which taste like dried corn flakes to him. And he likes dried corn flakes.

  • Whoa, damn! *exuse my language*

    thats awesome!

are those the same kind of markers? (or pens)

and are they at local stores like walmart or is it only at a sertin store? *website maybe...)

  • Hi there, roxxi227. I'm glad you're digging the monsters. :^)

I use Faber-Castell PITT artist pens, Staedtler pigment liners, Tombo ABT pens, Sharpies (fine point and wedge tip), and Yasutomo Sumi ink on regular old uncoated bond paper. Most of that stuff you can get at the art store (online or off), but Walmart would certainly have the Sharpies and some sort of fine-point black felt tip pens.

  • awesome AWESOME jobs

what kind of ink do you use?

    and that air brush effect

i'd like to learn how to do that :]

  • Thank you for the compliment, AtrumAethra. I'm glad you're enjoying the monsters. This is definitely one of my favorites, too.

I use Faber-Castell PITT artist pens, Staedtler pigment liners, Tombo ABT pens, Sharpies (fine point and wedge tip), and Yasutomo Sumi ink on regular old uncoated bond paper. The airbrush is just ink blown on through a straw.

  • SWEET! :] thanks for replying that must be a lot of work :] but yeah i just started practicing right now im using a sanford uni-ball micro sharpies: fine/wedge and a basic bic pen like i tried doing all those crazy lines you get from blowing the ink it just doesn't work haha but yeah thanks a bunch dude :]
  • your handwriting is awesome.. :) LOL

  • Thank you, adityawardhana. I'm glad you like it. :^D

  • Your'e a great artist. These things are amazing.

  • Thank you very much, Cormundo! I'm glad you're enjoying the monsters. :^)

  • mich fasziniert die feinheit deiner werke.ich würde auch gerne so präzise zu arbeiten :3

mach weiter so! werde mir dein buch beschaffen :3

  • Dank Dir herzlich, cyberwurst. Bitte entschuldige die arg verspätete Reaktion. Irgendwie ist Dein Kommentar nicht in meiner Inbox erschienen. Hoffentlich gefällt Dir das Buch wenn Du es bekommst. :^)

  • das wird es auf jeden fall :D

  • 94 is invisible =[ he touches people on their heads to make them pay attention to him but they just don't see him. Thats why some people run into something big and invisible in a rush and then look around, totally astonished.

  • Hi there, majinSayon! Cool story! Please forgive me for only reacting after an embarrassing TWO MONTHS! Oy! Somehow your comment didn't show up in my Inbox. Operator error on my end, I'm sure! Thank you so much for posting a story! :^)

  • Ah, it's no problem, really. Such things happen to all of us sometimes =]

  • Awesome! Great work! Keep it up

  • Thank you, 131stiff131. I'm glad you like it!

  • i love the little people :D

  • "I also love the little people" says regal Monster 94, Ruler of its Realm ;D Thank you for your comment, eleanorinjapan. Thank you for visiting the onsters!

  • do you have an idea of what you're going to make before hand, or do you just make it up when you do the video?

  • Hello cky83. I make it up completely in the moment. Whenever I try to decide what the monster will look like ahead of time it simply doesn't work. The drawing has to come out of the shape of the ink blot right then.

  • 5/5... and u got yourself a new subscriber!

  • yep there we go, an instant favorite :D love this drawing so much haha! Again, well done.

  • woooW

  • Love it ^_^ there are tiny little people! xD are they?

  • te quiero!

we're really jealous of your ink.

  • wow I like it. how did you make those lines?

    really interesting!!!

  • It's ink blown against a metal ruler.

I was happy with that little experiment. :^)

  • OMG THAT IS SICK!!!!

  • amazing.

  • 5/5

  • haha, love the sense of him counting people and in some way loses track and tries to backtrace. ^^ great job and a joy to see such splendid imagination.

  • Excellent! Our favorite so far and the animation is perfect. =)

  • Thank you, spiderlady56. I'm proud of the animation on this one. Particularly the thud of the sitting down. Took a while, but I think it was worth it. :^)
