I was able to finish this game three times (compared to the famous NES version, which I was only able to finish ONCE due to its extreme difficulty). :)
as far as old consoles go, the speccy wasn't half bad, the only complaint is the lack of colours but besides that, most games are fast and fluid. This version of BATMAN is faster than the amiga if I remember correctly
Great video. I played this game on Amiga back when... well, I had Amiga. Now only my uncle have it, but its floppy drive is broken.
Also, interesting thing about that other Batman image. Maybe they used it in alpha version of game (when they didn't have images from movie) and forgot to remove it?
it can display 15 different colours but the way it displays colours makes it hard to make colourful games that don't look bizarre. Thats why a lot of games are just one colour + black.
@andyukmonkey Yeah, it was a lot to do with the fact the Spectrum didn't have an actual bitmap graphics mode or hardware sprites so everything had to be character-based. Each character was a fixed 8x8 pixel square that could only contain two colours, which usually led to monochromatic graphics where the developers didn't want to risk colour-clash, or they needed smooth scrolling.
Did you know that you can use your bat-rope to get around the corners in an instant on the batmobile stage, just like in the movie. It's a hell of a lot quicker, but you have to time it just right or you're screwed!
I completed the game maybe 50% of the time I played it. Jokers code used to get me a lot of the time.
You almost won the whole game in less than 20 minutes. I had to save states of the game to win it. You need to master the bat rope thing to pass the last level.

Screen with border lines while loading a program. Simply the best load feedback system for the eight bit computers with cassette tape..

Когда едешь на машине можно на поворотах выбрасывать кошку и цепляться ею за столбы-так поворачиваешь не тормозя.

How come most games are 1-bit monocrome on the ZX Spectrum? Its 1-bit monocrome with like 1 color.

Try checking wikipedia for an explanation.

I just wish my brother and I still had it now.
Are you playing that on the Spectrum right now?
I wish I could play it! Can you get a version of this exact game on PC?
I'd love it so much!
