I just bought the Remmington 1911 R1 Enhanced with the fiber optic front site and the adjustable rear site. I have put 22,374 rounds through my Italian made Beretta 92SF before it mis-fed my point is all handguns have their quirks I put that many rounds through my beretta competing with a friend who had a GLOCK his jammed at 11,451 !!! Now I have to try out this 1911 but I want to clear up some mis comments in these postings these guns ARE MADE BY REMMINGTON UNDER A CONTRACT BY A GROUP OF INV
the thing shoots GREAT and for the holier than thou neysayers ...they voted for obama and youve seen these people in your every day life ,they are the ones that have drove for 20 years and still suck at it
I am a firefighter in kansas I can vouche making a video can be hard when you get called out in the middle of it. LOL I also have a remington R1 1911 GREAT GUN!!!!!!! check out my video's some time
it is not an opinion it is a FACT...i fell into the mystique and fantasy of a quality and american made 1911 which i thought at the time was being made by remington and at half the price of a colt but alas thats all it was a FANTASY. a company pays remington to use their name on this cheap steaming pile of crap they call a 1911. since getting rid of this abomination i have purchased a colt combat commander and a 70 series reissue....the quality and pride of ownership is worth every penny
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
they are cheap pieces of crap...not even made by remington...finish is horrible w/pitting and visible lines from casting...complete piece of shit...it a disgrace for a great american company like remington to sell this...save your money and buy a colt.
@thebonnice seeing on how theyre manufactured in the states im pretty sure theyre american. also, being an armorer in the usmc im pretty sure i know about weapons...and this is a good weapon
@thebonnice LOL colt was not even the designer of 1911 either it's sad people give credit to colt when browning was the the one who sold colt there design
@KyQuartermasters listen to the guy again, he said he had a feeding problem? That gun would compromise you in case that happen when you need to defend your self? Paper target would forgive?
I would chose a Colt 44 auto if I can afford, but I feel confident with my 9mm Beretta with hollow point slug. If you are not a got shooter.. don;t use a hand gun?
@AmoralEngineer Have you seen an orig. pre war 1911? The gun was made specially to counter the moro insurgent in the philippines. The moro's (muslims) were known' to be able to come close enough to chop your head even if you unload all 6 round of the earlier 38 revolvers? That time the US army needed a gun that has good stopping power and reload fast? The gun was made for close fight and not for long shot. Lots of Americans get killed in the war because the Moro's muslims attack up close.
Can you get a long trigger for it? like what can you do as far as costomization, or is it lik every other 1911 like will parts fit from other companys?
they make them pretty much the same way they did in the 40s just some minor changes not much though and it's kinda nice to see that remington is back into the 1911 making in time for the 100th anniversary always wanted a remington rand 1911a1
@45autoful I have been seeing them a lot in the last few weeks. between gun shows, gun shops, and bass pro i have been seeing them in stock. I think supply is catching up with demand.
i think its with the magazines not the gun itself. dont be influenced by those polymer users, all guns have their own dose of jams. glocks, xd, kimber, colt, etc. try changing your magazines, or much better if you let a gunsmith diagnose it. only fools think that there is an existing gun that didnt jam at all, polymer or steel.
when you got a double feed was the round in the chamber spent? if so it might be a weak extractor, shoot it a ton to figure out. i like how remington machined the slide instead of using forgings, but they used a cast frame instead of forged... i guess they thought a higher quality slide was worth a slightly cheaper frame
Ah that sucks. I don't care if the gun is made of rubber, if it performs as well as a glock I'll speak highly of it. Yeah it's got a plastic handle. I could run over it with a car and it probably wouldn't even crack it LOL.
I like these. Just recently been learning about them though. Any chance you can get them chrome? I still don't think it's gonna top my glock 23 (opinion). I've put 650 rounds through my stock glock (not a ton I know) and I haven't had one single tiny problem with it. It's unstoppable lol.
@Nemesis1587 At This Point You Cant Get Them In Any Other Finish But Like I Say To Each His Own ...I Like "Plastic Guns" Too LOL Cant Stop A Glock lol
im actually getting rid of my tomorrow... trading or something my slide to frame fit is so lose it rattles so bad I just cant stand that in a 1911.. I really wanted to keep this gun because it was accurate and fun to shoot but dont trust how loose everything is.
This is a great gun. I have mine on order. I live a few miles away from where this is made in NY. I have other 1911's but this should be the best since its made right here in the USA. Great review!!!
Very nice pistol, man. I just saw not too long ago where Remington had come out with a 1911. How would you say this pair up against say, a mil-spec springfield?
