Thanks M2, super informative. I'm doing a side-by-side grow with 6 - NL#5 x Haze clones, 3 getting 1000w HID [600w hortilux super HPS + 400w hortilux Blue MH] and the other 3 getting 800w of LED [CLW SolarStorm] that also has 2 - 16 inch UVB lamps.
From your discussion I'm going to turn the UVB on for maybe 4-5 hours a day, in the middle of the plant's day when they flower and begin to produce tricomes. I'll post again at the end of the grow and after I have them tested for THC content. Thanks!!
WELL..:).. i ADDED UVB ON THIS ROUND .i AM JUST OVER 4 WEEKS IN flower & THE CRYSTALS ON THIS ONE are double what they were last time so..idk! BUT Thanks GREG! LOL:) smell seems stronger to.
So 2 people grew the same weed and had different results not done under a controlled study with nutes or soil or hydro or cure time or harvest time or flower time or a number of other things and you assume it's the UV that did it?
The cannabis community really needs to "weed" out people like this who are nothing but your average pot head willing to play an expert role by reading up on the internet, coming up with their own hypotheses and passing it along to others.
This is great info for us older guys. You have to understand, this is all old/new technology that was not around 15 years ago. Why is the plant doing this? To protect itself with it's light refracting / cooling factory. I plan to try this with UVB 10.0, 4' reptile florescent lights hanging vertically between my plants. They have a 20" usable depth from the light. I want to take advantage of the full 360° range of the bulb. We shall see.
@RetroFishman we'll your mistaken..its not ALL about uvb..u need to factor in weather, native soil, etc...and northern cali has a better all around climate for cannabis
So after watching this why do the guys in northern Ca who grow outdoors think their stuffs so great? I grow in So Cal outdoors where more UVB rays are happening. Granted its more difficult to grow large plants undetected in the southland as opposed to having more space and less intruders up north but if the pot farms could relocate wouldnt their finest Humbolt co bud grow better in San Diego or Orange county outdoors?
@RetroFishman you must be mentally slow..do you really think UVB is that much stronger in Socal? lol you guys have lots of bad native soil to which plays a big roll in plant health..you guys also have to hot of weather..i can think of a few other things y the herb would be a little better if grown up in nor cal to but i wont waste anymore of my time

@RetroFishman lol if you think about it the elevation would matter to..most elevations up north are closer to the sun which equals more uvb
