  • What was the song at the end, before the credits?

  • what a movie..watched 5 times in webmovietube

  • this is ok movie..watched the full movie in webmovietube for free

  • best movie..worth to watch it in webmovietube

  • this is pretty sick

  • Really Enjoyable! I like the whole style.

  • oh my god what beat was that whats the name of the beat you used maily though the film

  • fun stuff fellas! love the timing of the shots and the music. nice job!

  • niiiice one!

    love the twist!

  • racist, lol.

  • Am I the only one who think this movie is kinda racist, or am I just misunderstanding the point?

  • I kind of thought that too! But I also couldn't tell if I was just misunderstanding some aspect of it. Cool short though!

  • No it is not racist. He is showing the large role race still plays in our society, while a bit exaggerated at parts, that is the point

  • pearl necklace LOL. (i know its not pearl but still thats pretty funny if you think about it)

  • Ok never mind. I read the comments and found out that it was shot on a Red One, in 4k, except for the opening slo-mo which was 3k at 60 fps, you used Final Cut Pro and After FX, you used muzzle flash plug ins for the gunfire, and that you used years of filmschool and watching movies to make this thing. But now I have more questions: Where did you go to film school? How did you get a Red One?

  • hey guys. great job, really liked the movie. A few questions. 1. How did you get the security camera shots? 2. How did you get the fire coming out the gun barrels in the jackass video and in the jewelery store? 3. What program did you use to edit? 4. What kind of camera/microphone/lighting were you guys using? Please let me know!

  • Hey minutes - sorry for the delayed reply. Been a long time since I came to this page. I went to the New York Film Academy in La. Jason went to a school called Toronto Film School - which closed down. I bought the red one with a bank loan and I rent it out to pay for it (tough work). We used a tascam hd-p2 audio recorder with a sennheiser me66 mike and some standared lowal film lights.

  • Freakin sick movie. Fun to watch and the kinda films i wanna make, and you made this in Three days. Says alot about your talent. I hope we can make movies together when i see you at the oscars!!

  • How'd you get Wyclef Jean to do this with you?

  • it was good....but it was kinda racist

  • This is like a Quentin Tarentino film.

  • Oh right! You went to New York Film Academy, that's like 50 steps down from NYU.

  • Okay - now you're just being stupid and mean - clearly you are one of the competing losers, and that's cool. I'm not going to defend my school, Spielberg sent his kid there - enough said.

  • Liked it, good ending. Any chance of you telling me what kind of camera you used to film this?

  • The RED camera

  • wtf is this shit

  • nice

  • very well done! what type of camera is used to take the shots? Thanks mate!!!

  • The Red One camera.

  • I was actually expecting to like this, but nothing much happened, for the story, it should have been about 4 minutes longer. No character development, not much of a story, and the editing was terrible. Also the twist was a little lame. Overall, I was deeply dissapointed.

  • For the record Jacklovesmatthew the film cannot be 4 minutes longer it was made for a competition that required it to be less than 5 minutes. There was not meant to be any character development - the whole film was based on the ending. And you are dumb the ending is bad=assed. Overall, you are deeply dissapointing.

  • No character development? Interesting take. And why make a whole film about an ending?Haven't you ever heard that it shouldn't be about the destination but the journey.

  • I think if you looked into the competition that this movie was made for you would better understand. Film is subjective, but I can assure you - more than 200,000 voters liked the twist at the end, so for the record you are the minority. Also, that rule that you mentioned that film shouldn't be about the destination...well, there are no rules in storytelling and we felt that considering we only had five minutes to tell the story we wouldn't bother with too much character development.

  • nice

  • It's cool... but I don't get the twist... buh buh buh they're not white, they're black!!!! OMG. There must be something I'm missing.

  • yes, an education.

  • WOW....that was awesome.....good ending

  • wow.....that was awesome....loved the ending

  • any chance someone knows the song at the end where theyre on the red phone?

  • NICE FILM!!!

  • awesome,

at first, didnt get, but soon got the plot (y)

  • All those white guys look a like. Just think if someone was to say all those black guys look a like. There would have been riots in the street. IF they would have killed the girl instead of letting her go this would have been # 1.

  • Actually if they killed the girl they wouldn't be "highly educated" and the whole plot would be different.

  • thats exactly why they say "all white people look alike", to make a mockery of it, because people have been saying all black people look alike for years.. dumbass

  • nice work.

  • that was so good how didn't that win lol

  • Great job... most impressive.

    Congrats

  • that ending was too cool. congrats.

  • Aww this works on so many levels!

    Congratz on placing!

  • haha it's still bigger than hip hop.

  • Comment removed

  • Well done guys, some solid story telling. Grats on your placing as well!

  • good fun .. great to watch

    GC x

  • this should have won

  • Great work!

  • well, I loved it!

I guess some people just want the same thing.. over.. and over...

Great idea, I really enjoyed this^^

  • nice!

  • awessome video!! great twist

only thing i didnt like was the skateboard scene with the kids

  • I LOVE IT!!!!!! Great movie concept! Wish it was longer.... Congrats on the win guys!!!! Your number one fan;) xo

  • Do another one, ok?

  • I'll let you in on a little secret: There will likely be more to come.....

  • Good film, mate. Pat on the back to you, If your not proud you should be. Keep up the great work. Maybe you can come first next time. =)

  • story was good, but the filming was not. Such a big error in the first couple of shots (reporting background).

  • Sorry, could you please elaborate?

  • The very first shot is a medium shot of the reporter and the "victim". The building in the background is probably 3-4 yards away from the reporter and the victim. But when you cut to a kind of long shot, the building is many yards away from the reporter and the victim. You changed the location of the interview. (to be continued)

  • Actually you are incorrect and are falling victim to an optical illusion caused by two separate issues, lens and location of camera. In the first shot you will notice a second camera at the bottom right hand corner of the screen. That camera is actually rolling the footage used in the second shot. The first shot is a medium shot, but it was shot with a long lens. A long lens flattens an image, causing the background to look closer to the foreground.

  • It seems as if two separate interview shots were edited together rather than seamlessly editing two shots of different distances (medium and long shot) of the same interview.

If you want to get into the picky details, your lighting also changes in the first couple of frames when it should be consistent (two different lightings show that the interviews were shot at different times).

    (to be continued)

  • Again, the lighting has not changed at all, rather the xh-al and the RED one both captured the same footage, but processed the footage differently. P.s. I love picky details.

  • So I read your additional comments and nevertheless does the fluidity of the first couple of shots not mesh well (at least that is how they appear to me).

I hope I helped. I am no professional in film, but I notice certain details. Please don't take this offensively, just some notices I made.

On a good note, I thought the title shot was pretty cool.

  • Not at all I would never take constructive criticism as an insult. I was simply explaining that we didn't shoot them at different times. Maybe if you haven't watched the movie in HD yet, you will see that it was a deliberate choice.

  • Both these shots were shot simultaneously at the same location. The reason they also look different is that the first shot was filmed by the Red one camera, roughly a 50 thousand dollar camera, and the second is a canon xh-a1, a 4 thousand dollar camera. The difference in quality could also be adding to your confusion. The reason we used the lower quality camera for that shot, and for the security footage at the end is that it was meant to look more like news footage rather than reality.

  • ). I feel as though there were too many close up shots in the car (shots of the entire back seat to show the girl robber as well, she doesn't appear very much in the beginning). The zooming into the radio/music player of the car was also a bit strange because of its lighting. It was so light compared to the shot of the men in the car and looked like zooming into a still shot. If you actually filmed the radio while you were driving, the shot would appear "realistic".

    (to be continued)

  • Yes, this is true. What happened was that the actresses in our film both left (we shot this in 2 days). We were forced to shoot all the actors separately and in poor - near dark- lighting conditions. This is my most hated scene in the movie and is the kind of thing that if we had a budget would not have been an issue. Also, we didn't have time to shoot the radio as the sun went down. The radio shot is actually a still image that I took later in the night, with a zoom added in post!

  • I'm the "GUY ON THE BUS" from Sundance in Park City last weekend on Friday night. I meet a few cast members on the bus ride from the main street activities back to my parking spot on the public shuttle at the Sundance Film Festival last weekend. Great work! Very good. Hit me up sometime!

  • The shot at 0:25 is amazing, great job.

I think this deserved a win.

  • that sub machine gun is AWESOME!! what type is it is it a real or play dummy

  • it's an airsoft prop

  • thank you, and where did you get it and how did you do that mask thing, like did you have people act that part and then get balistics or what and if you bought them where did you buy it?

  • what a twist!

  • wow this was really good

  • that was the best 1 u shoud of won crazy ass ending

  • yea Perfecto was shit bad storyline

  • great

  • that was a great way to showcase how race plays such a large part in our society still, i like how you changed it up!

  • I like how you get the point, some people are missing it!

  • yea i agree, and how the people on the couch said "have you ever heared a educated white men robbing a jewelry store"

  • that was great. you should have first place. the ending was amazing. what is the name of the song at the end where he pulls off the mask and sets the phone down.

  • That was one of the best videos I have ever seen. I wish that I could give you guys more than 5 stars. You deserve something like 10.

  • yeah i think u should have won as well... the ending was real good

  • This should have been number 1!

  • dang! that was so awesome! u should've gotten first place

  • You have first place as far as I'm concerned! Keep the films coming, best wishes

  • i actually REALLY like that!!! that's so smart to dress up as white guys! who would've ever thought..polite criminals.

  • Excellent directing, solid acting for the most part. Great short film!

  • yeepee this goes to sundance.

    cool

  • nice

  • What is the name of the song that plays at 0:26

  • Very well done and the ending made it so much better.

  • awesome job ending was very twisty

  • nice!!

  • i loved your video so much i just wish that it would have won but good job the ending was great, i loved it!

  • crazy video lol. fukk :P

  • Malcolm Gladwell, take note! Malcolm theorizes about perception and prejudice in his book "Blink". These directors illustrate his ideas by turning stereotypes on their head. Go, Canada!

  • Brilliant! You guys deserved first place, in my opinion. Loved the way you combined an entertaining examination of racial stereotypes, humour and style. And your major plug for TO's multi-culti population with your multiracial/ethnic cast. Keep it up!

  • Noice.....Excellent job! The ending was unexepected and quite creative. Thanks!

  • Good job boys... Way to represent yourselves, and Canada (Toronto) as well!

  • started a bit slow but the ending was killer. i think if people stuck around to see all of this, it would have won top prize. nice tonuge in cheek. well done. yeah for T.O.

  • why doesnt the reporter have a microphone?

  • very surprising. you should work on getting the budget and expanding could make for a really good feature film

  • I heard about it on Canada AM...

Watching it (as a video editor) it was well done. No easy task working on a low budget. As far as the storyline... I am VERY curious to know why the choice to have the robbers be black men (the stereotype) and not reverse it... white men impersonating black men as robbers... Was the social stereotype of 'the black man' considered when writing it out?

  • Honestly, we thought about that too, but thought the reveal at the end where you see the blonde girl was really a rasta was more funny than finding out the rasta was really a blonde girl.

We could have done it either way, but it the end we were just making fun of stereotypes. Beside's, it would have looked just as bad doing a stereotyped impersonation of black "ghetto" gangsters. In the end Everyone is made fun of.

  • Heard about this on CTV this morning. Smart and amusing. Loved it! Good luck with your careers. I look forward to seeing your next project. :-)

  • Pretty awesome flick,

I heard my colleague at the royal Andrew did a small part too! Congrats to everyone involved with the movie.

  • I am Spartacus! ... and this is a great movie

  • This one is far from my favourite. Didn't really hold my attention. I agree with the comment below: stating the obvious. But the music at the ending is really sweet. What song is that?

  • Tone Mason produced the songs... you can google them.

    songs are. The Heist...Cashboy...The Hustler!

  • I look and look, but cannot find them if you could either post a video with the full length song or a direct length that would be great, and I would be eternaly greatful.
