that definitely a 327. Cant mistake that sound for anything but a 350 even. The 427 never sounded that heavy at revs past 4000, it had a really throaty sound, not something that sounds like some Chevy resto-mod engine. Sounds great though. Owned a 65 FI 327 and a 68 L88, in my opinion, those and the L88 from 67 were the best.
@MrProComedian It's a 454 crate engine. The sound might not be perfect as it is from a camera mic, but unless someone swapped the engine just before I went on that ride (and I hope not :)), it was a 454 I had in it at the time.
I think the '67 427 Corvettes are the sexiest Corvettes ever built. Even today's ZR1, though more powerful and better handling, can't match the style and appeal of the '63-'67 Corvettes.
I agree with Deathtouch100 and Eltfell. However. If you feel you want to add music, feel free to post both un-altered and altered versions of the video.
I agree eltfell, people should take note of that, nobody wants to hear some fucking rap song saying yo,yo bitch when you are trying to hear american muscle and all of it's glory. Too many peple drown out the engine sound with music
The badge is there though it's not visible in the video... And it sure does have sidepipes. At the time of the video it had 4" Super Comp Hooker Pipes, but now they are back to the original 2½" factory correct pipes.
That sounds like a 327, why did you put the big block hood on a 327 car? I know a very few came out of the factory like that but there was no stinger stripe on the hood of those few 327 cars with big block hoods.
so which way is leaner fuel mixture??? i need a little bit of carb adjusting done to my Dodge..its an edelbrock carb the guy slapped on before he sold me the car..needs to run leaner. so left?
I beleive so! But you should be able to hear it clearly when it's there and I even though I haven't tried it on any other cars, I quickly found the right mixture just by listening to it.
In my case it had to be done with a cold engine as well - right after start-up. If I waited to adjust it until it got warm, it was difficult to keep it going on the next start-up.
i LOVE THIS CAR AND YOUR VIDEO, i DRIVE A 2000 c-5 AND I FEEL LIKE I OWN THE ROAD, BUT WITH YOUR CAR I WOULD OWN THE WORLD, i PLAY YOUR VIDEO OVER AND OVER AGAIN. tHANKS FOR HAVING THIS CAR ON DISPLAY IT IS A THING OF BEAUTY, i LOVE YOUR WEBSITE, i'M HOPING TO GET MY OWN 67 SOON. i LIVE IN fLORIDA SO i WOULD DRIVE IT YEAR ROUND.
Honestly, dont listen to these negative morons. While the "protouring" 67 is a wonderful car, you have a groundpounder!!, there is something real special about a carb'd motor. Enjoy YOUR car the way you see fit, dont listen to these jealous people. I hate people who get on here and critise peoples sh*t, get a life, or a job and buy a 67 and throw a z06 motor in!, awesome but dont critise this beast... End of rant
I haved owned two 66 Corvettes (one 327/300 and one 327/350 horse with factory side exhaust). Not trashed cars but award winners. However, I did not see this Vette do anything in the video but rev up to about 2700 rpm cruising. Is the side exhaust tone suppose to impress me alone? Can get those mufflers to fit any car.
No its not uploaded to impress anybody, its a clip for my site as this was the first spin after adjusting the carb and it reminds me of a good day and how it is to drive this car, on the days where the rain is pouring down. As for the speed, there are strict speed limits on this specific piece of road and even though I'd love to floor it, I also appreciate my drivers license. I'll see if I can get some footage on a closed road - Perhaps that will have a better chance of raising an eyebrow :)
Check out the guy above you with his 1967 Z06 427 small block motor with fuel injection! Now that car raises my eyebrows! Well over 600 horses with modern everything! Not old, outdated inefficient carburation and transmission. Sure not original but bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yep! It sure is a wonderful vehicle and there's definitely many hours of work in that one. That aside, I can't see how it makes my car less worthy of being featured on youtube. They both have their place here and even though they have the same body it's very different cars.
Well, one advantage his have over yours,he have a modern 427 that doesn't run hot and fuel injected, yours a powerful as it is,all of the big blcks do run hot and that was one of the big concerns along with tuning 3 two barrel carbs. Sorry if I had a 427 I take it out for the newer 427 505 or 600 horses with a modern 6spd trans.

@GTRaycer The big blocks were not much good on a track. Too front heavy. Too much understeer. Strictly point and shoot.

I'm not tryn to be an ass but i dont see the 427 badges on the stinger and it really does sound like a 327 with side pipes.
