  • @fritzhvac No problem bud lol. While a fan of oil myself, I could'nt stand the condensing oil furnace. They were a royal pain to clean when one would soot up. Oil seems to have a bad repuation but when 'properly' serviced provides good reliable service. Condensing oil excluded. Keep up the good work my friend.

  • Love your videos Fritz all you guys combine with school will make me one of the best technicians when I graduate love this trade and the brotherhood that is with it... I wanted to ask you how would you test a limits and safety switches and do you have or know of a video that is posted on it????

  • @Kpenny300 Hey whats up man !!!

  • i need help with my gas heat My downstairs will be 80 and upstairs is like 65. I Live in Minot ND. It gets around -60 in the dead of winter. But i have a problem with heat upstairs, I can never seem to get upstairs warm can someone you help me.?

  • @iamaGod357 Hey man !!!

That is beyond freakin cold Brother ! Damn freakin cold !

I live in a 2 story home too , my issue was getting cooling upstairs (heat rises , cold drops),I only have 1 return air upstairs,I installed a attic fan ,and changed blower motor speeds , helped a whole lot .

Sounds like you may have a return air issue or a duct sizing issue! How many Btu's is furnace? What is square footage of home? How many Returns are upstairs? Is doors closed to bedrooms and hall upstairs?

  • @fritzhvac 1700 feet

  • @iamaGod357 Do you have return upstairs ? Do you know Btu of furnace , etc ... ?

  • @fritzhvac i have return upstairs i think its around 80 000 btu

  • @iamaGod357 That sounds about right 75,000 to 80,000 Btu with a 2.5 to 3 ton condenser . But to really determine furnace size for your home you need a calc load done . Do you have only one return upstairs(central) or do you have return in every room ? Did you just start noticing problem or has it been like this since you got your home ? Get you a piece of typing paper and put over return see if it will hold on register by itself when running , see if the paper is blowing good on supply also !

  • @fritzhvac return in all rooms, heat was workin fine until 6 months ago

  • @iamaGod357 Okay I have seen you commenting to two other channels on youtube, stating your furnace is ac ready but that needs a good cleaning ! What in Detail did the Service Tech tell you when he was out ? If your system is dirty it will not work correctly !

Why are you asking A.C for help before you determine whats wrong with furnace ?

Did you do the test with paper i was telling you about ?

  • @fritzhvac he couldent find anything wrong with it. he cleaned the furnace and said something about cleaning the ac reasy part but didnt clean it himself. i have no ac

  • @iamaGod357 Sorry I have been at the Hospital with my Mother , for the last 5 day's .

Did he pull blower and clean that also ?

  • @fritzhvac i dont know

  • Hey fritz good morning brother.your sense of humor is wonderful.this is what I like to know regarding ohms, when you ohm a parts what are you looking for exactly,IF THE PART IS OPEN OR CLOSE? Why does it have to give you a number?how do you know what number to look for?is it matter if the number is higher or lower?and I also want to know what kind of parts you can ohms and the difference between ohms and continuity.thanks

  • @lolly2cute Hey whats up Jean !!!

If the the part is open , you will read open line (OL) , if part is closed you will read some sort of resistance .

A ohm is a unit of electrical resistance .

The best thing to do is look up the Ohm's Law triangle here on line , E=Voltage , I = Amps , and R = Resistance the symbol for resistance is OHM's , the OMEGA sign !

    E = I X R , I = E divided by R , and R = E divided by I , with these equations , you can figure out volts , amps , and resistance .

  • @lolly2cute The higher the number the more resistance , basically the higher the resistance the voltage slows !!!

Thats a good question , I am not sure on what numbers to look for when ohming , unless I am given a number . Take a peek at my video Ohm testing hot surface ignitors . (MAGIC NUMBER) LOL ... ??? I wish I knew !!!

  • Again thanks so much.

  • i appreciate ur concern. U are right, but I just didn't have all that money right now to hire someone, and it is about 10 degrees outside here in Cleveland. I looked at another video and found ignitor and put it on. It is working fine. Again thanks....

  • @headsbmw750 I am so happy you were able to fix her !!!

I promise you by know means was I trying to be a jerk !!!

I would not been able to live with myself if something happened to yall , by giving you diagnostic information on repair without seeing , and something went wrong !!!

I truly hope this year is a good year for yall !!!

  • My furnace was trying to run and blowing cold air. So I remembered I saw these flint looking pieces that had fell down under where the burners are sitting. One of them look similar to a pitch fork, but they are made of the same thing that is sitting on that switch that has flint made to it. Do u know what I am talking about? Are those pieces on the switch supposed to be longer than 1/2 inch?

    Thanks

    headsbmw750

  • @headsbmw750 I am so sorry you are having such trouble with your furnace . I personally understand times being tight , I just started my new HVAC business , and I am struggling to make ends meet . I cannot tell you how to fix your furnace , you are now dealing, with a part of your system that is dangerous to your safety and your familes safety .

You are now in need of a Licensed HVAC TECH , I suggest you ask your friends and family who they trust and use when they are in need of a service tech .

  • @headsbmw750 I make these videos to help HVAC Tradesman coming up in our trade,to give them a better understanding what they will deal with out in the field ! I do not shoot these videos for the Do It Yourself homeowner,to fix there own systems.

Your furnace is nothing to play around with ,if you do not have experience in the trade .

This stuff KILLS people . It is time to call a Professional , call your local B.B.B. .I am not trying to be mean, its about the safety of you and your family .

  • I have a Trane xb90 furnace, and my light is flashing 3 times which the panel says it is the pressure switch. I don't know anything about fixing furnace's, but really can't afford to pay $100.00 for someone just to come out, and then hit me with labor, parts, and whatever else fee's. So I am hoping u can tell me a few things to do to find the problem. Where do I go to make sure there are no blockages? And what else can I do..

    Thanks

    headsbmw750

  • @headsbmw750 I always say consult a quilified tech! I can't tell you what to do,but if it were me I would check to see if I had a kink in my condensate line before trap, make sure trap is not stopped up,make sure she is draining properly.I would probably go to bottom hose on pressure switch and check for water, keep hose connected to PS trace back and remove from there, being very careful not to spill on board(9 times outa 10 water issue) .If that checked out I would look for obstruction in vent.

  • @headsbmw750 I always turn POWER OFF before attempting this procedure !!!

  • nice job and explanation.

  • @tedassured Thank You very much !!!

    Thanks for watching !!!

It's all about the right tools !!!

  • I been at it on my own sence 1996 as I was caned for not being a team player. the first few years are the hardest it can take a wile to build up what I call a cushion AKA money in the bank. do honest work at a fair price and a little word of mouth and you will succeed! start up costs can make or brake you. you did the right thing not buying a new van 6 years ago I bought a bran new E-350 extended loaded with the 6-L power stroke paid 43K broke many times and the @83K miles broke again sold 3K

Man your Comment, 5tank's , and fart1fart1 did not come thru on my inbox , just nutintoit , and Terry's popped up !!! Here we go again !

    Thank's again man !!!

  • That was a VERY informative tutorial, buddy. I'm sure there are a few techs in HVAC Land that learned thing or three here. Not every guy has seen the pressure switch hose set-up that includes the link to the gas valve. If there's POSITIVE pressure in the burner compartment on a sealed combustion system (which indicates a venting obstruction), it'll kick that gas valve right out of the loop.

That's Rochester Heatin' and Air, Baby!!!

  • @PutSome5tankOnIt Thank You very much my friend , that means a great deal to me man !!!

You and several of my other Brothers on here have taken their personal time to help me so much , I can't even begin to tell yall how much I appreciate it !!!

Thats wild on the A.S. Pressure Switch Hose set up !!! That is the first one I have ever done like that !!!

    Thanks 5tank !!!
