GET RID OF LOSER AMERICAN COMMISSIONERS AND REDNECK FRANCHISES!
TAKE BACK OUR GAME!
note: i'm not saying this about all americans, a lot of americans are great, and many have great hockey knowledge and love for the game. gretzky, howe and orr all played on american teams, there were 4 in the original 6! lets just get rid of the loser americans (many who post on here) who don't know anything and are ruining the game!
You are a fucking asshole to post comments like this on a song for Gary Roberts. This was obviously made by an excited fan of his who was psyched he signed with the Pens last summer. Go away. Leafs suck. Go Pens!
I am from the American South and what most people would refer to as a "Redneck," and I am seriously offended by what you have said about me. I am a huge hockey fan, and have been a Penguins fan through good times and bad. I love traditional, hard-nosed hockey, and love the game. I do enjoy NASCAR and other "redneck" pastimes, but my favorite sport is definitely hockey. Thanks for generalizing against me, sir!!
Gary Roberts has chosen to play with the Pens. Pittsburgh is grateful to be able to watch him. Dicks who choose to make comments on a song need to get a life.
man... we love gary roberts much more than you losers in pittsburgh. we've watched him in calgary, carolina, toronto etc... and i think that i know what gary roberts would do if he heard this: come back home to canada where there are real hockey fans, instead of lamo's who make weird panzy voiced songs about him. americans should stop thinking they know anything about hockey. go watch nascar losers.
Oh come off it, Dude! What a surprise, you guys think you are superior because hockey was invented in your country. There are real fans in Pittsburgh ... born and raised loving hockey. Maybe Canadiens (yeah I did spell it that way on purpose) should stop pretending that Canada should be the only place in the world for hockey.
You've never been to Pittsburgh. It's most certainly a hockey city and has been for as long as I've been alive. And we've won a Stanley Cup in the past 40 years, something Toronto can't say.
a loser american commissioner who knows nothing about hockey along with most other americans, keeps on pushing franchises into places like carolina, dallas, tampa, florida and los angeles, and those hillbillies don't want to watch hockey. meanwhile, he doesn't allow potential owners with more money to move these franchises back to canada where they belong. why don't we try a league where players play for the areas where they come from, then we'll see how many cups pittsburgh will win.
That makes no sense. Players will play harder in cities they were born? I'm sure a hockey player would much rather play in Montreal than Florida, but that doesn't mean they're gonna try any less harder.
I agree on one point though, hockey should not be places like Atlanta, etc. when there are markets in Canada like Winnipeg that would eat up hockey. Both from a economic and moral standpoint. The Thrashers would generate tons of revenue in Canada as opposed to what they pull in now.
Well, in the 90's when those franchises were shipped out to Colorado and Phoenix, the Canadian dollar was extremely weak and all salaries were (and are) paid in American dollars, so it was extremely difficult to turn a profit. Now the two currencies are much closer in worth, so the economic disadvantage Canadian teams faced is gone. Granted you can't just pick up franchises and move them based on the condition of the economy at any given time but teams would thrive in Winnipeg or Hamilton today
I'd say the Avalanche have done quite well in Colorado while Phoenix might take some time to build a good fanbase (as the Preds and others may also). When you open a business in a new market, you normally project a 5-10 year period before you expect to see it become successful. In hockey, winning makes that happen much faster.
The Avalanche have been successful, but that's not what I'm arguing at all. I'm just saying NHL franchises in Canada are now economically on a level-playing field as their American counterparts, and because of this it pains me to see teams like the Predators and Thrashers floundering in hockey hell when they could be flourishing up north. And teams don't really need time to develop fans if you have a good enough market. Just ask the Wild.
No I mean the Wild, who have yet to not sell out a game in their 7-year history, including the expansion year when they were terrible. And the North Stars only moved because of a scumbag owner who wanted more than Minnesota could give, so he moved to Dallas and sold the team a couple years later. If you think Minnesota has bad hockey fans you have no clue what you're talking about.
I don't believe I said a single word about their hockey fans.
As far as why they moved....that's your opinion only.
People around the NHL also want to say that it was because of lack of fan support that the Penguins threatened to move too. Nothing could have been further from the truth, it was all about politicians not keeping their promises, but try telling people that.
You couldn't have more heavily implied that Minnesota has bad hockey fans if you tried. When did I say any team moved or threatened to move based on lack of fan support? I don't get your point. You seem to just be arguing for the sake of arguing.
No, you're picking out menial things and twisting them for apparently no reason. Whatever, I don't know why I decided to waste my time in the first place. Youtube discussions are jokes.
Roberts, is awesome.. leafs should have never let him go..
