The cons/penalties were there from the beginning.  They just weren't listed in the description. It was listed on an update on their website that they added them to the description

Silly assumptions. This game is so similar to Quake 3 its easy to get the hang of it if you start with classes like Soldier and Demoman. The only complicated class is the Spy, Engineer and Medic being partly hard to play correctly too but they are easy to learn. I suspect the elitists who spent money on the game deem every player who plays badly "F2P" . If that makes them feel better let them think so. After all we are at an advantage playing this game for free, its obvious they will be jelly.
