a guy in the business told me that a couple shots of jack daniels and a few aspirin would produce plenty of 'juice' after blading himself during a match
its true about the blood and alcohol my mom has health problems and the drs told her to either take aspirin everyday or drink a beer or two every day to thin her blood out
I heard a rumor that the reason why Rich could bleed a gusher was because he would drink plenty of beer before it to make the blood thinner. Don't know if scientifically that is true, but I don't doubt Rich drank a lot of beer.
Attention fans of Tommy Rich, I just posted a new match of Tommy Rich vs. One Man Kru that took place in Haleyville, Alabama on 11/27/08. It was a classic!!! Check it out.
tommy lost alot of blood blading, and what does he have to show for it NOTHING! OH YEAH BUT A SCARRED UP FOREHEAD. LIKE CARLOS COLON ABDULLAH, SNUKA DUSTY AND ALL THE REST OF THOSE FOREHEAD CUTTING FREAKS.
Yeah, that's a blatant bladejob. Hogan bladed regularly during his WCW run as well. Hell, for that matter, so did Flair...though when Flair worked with someone he trusted (Wahoo, Harley, etc), I think he had them do the honors.
Flair did blade a lot (in all promotions). I don't remember Hogan's tenure in WCW too much. I never watched WCW for the most part. In the WWF/WWE, I only remember one blade job against Sgt. Slaughter for the championship (right around the first Iraq War).
It's not bloody, but dramatic. I like these old school matches because they built up a great storyline over the course of months. They don't do that anymore.
Tommy certainly tapped an artery on that one! You can see him blade a second time around 2:54 which suggests he wasn't happy with the results from the first gig job. Great stuff!

It's weird that only a few months before this, Gilbert was a WWF TV jobber. Then he became the hottest heel in Memphis, and rightfully so.

Awesome. Old school wrestling.

Damn, Tommy Rich bleeds a lot.

I thought aspirin was used to thin blood. I doubt much drinking before the matches. I wouldn't want my opponent drinking before.

Yeah, aspirin is used for that purpose but alcohol will thin the blood too.

Yes, that is true that alcohol thins the blood. I read that a lot of wrestlers who had to "blade" during matches would drink beforehand.

@80swrestlingfan They also will load up on aspirin due to the fact that that will thin the blood as well.

Tommy was one of those habitual bladers, like Abdullah the Butcher and Dusty Rhodes.
You can see him blading at 2:30, right after Eddie hits him with the boot.

Rich was an eternal bleeder, like Dusty Rhodes, Abdullah, and the Sheik.

After Bundy slams him at about 2:15 you can see Rich grab the blade from his left wrist.

@86lenny Yep i saw that.

I saw a video with a match with Tommy Rich in a high school gym and a drunk commentator.
Rich never got hit in the head, but started bleeding after a kick to the gut. It was hilarious
