I don't know much about his past, but I think that Jonathan did not have a very happy upbringing. Yet, he seems to either have overcome/not be bitter. Such a gentle soul and class act. God bless Mr. Winters!

@greenwich1754 Jonathan was actually in a mental institution (before he did Mad Mad Mad world) he did a skit involving Martians,and was "detained" when trying to explain to a sherrif that the martians were in fact chasing him. It was not great time in his life (he writes about it in his book) he underwent shock treatments etc. He also was an alcholic, as his father was.. but what a great comedic talent!!
