So sweet, you put a big red block right over the shark that had some goobelygook in it. Was I supposed to click the red block or something? I seen a shark tail and part of a face at one point, pretty cool video.
Im pretty sure thats a blacktip. From what i can see, the anal fin of this shark is not black tipped like a spinner. This is one of the main physical traits that set these two species apart.
wat kind of fishing pools are those, they look strong i want one to catch some congor eels and morey eels and they look strong anought for them..nice catch by the way ...cheers
It is certainly not a bull shark... I live in Florida and can tell you that's either a blacktip shark or a spinner shark. Probably a spinner but the pictures suck, Very common in Florida.
Jus saying yall cant fish worth a damnn..first thing..thier is a floating device called a "kayak"...and second thing...turn ur damn clicker off ...god damn Yankees!
Good guess, but it isnt a bull, bull shark are much more fatter and have a massive head, this is more likely like a bronze whaler or a Galapagos shark
its a small blackfin shark(blacktip, not blacktip reef shark). very high dorsal fin where as a bull has a much smaller dorsal and short stubby nose. the blackfin(as known in south africa) has the high dorsal and sharp nose. they dont always have black blotches on the tips of their fins which sometimes makes them difficult to identify!
@oranse where i live we get a few guys landing bronze wailer sharks here in South Australia off our metro jettys durring the summer months around 10ft+.. get the odd white pointer hanging round too, alot of media hype & public misinformation has given land based shark fish'os a bad name, saying these lads are drawing big sharks into shore where the public swim rah rah rah.. whether we fish for them or not is irrelevant, they'll still be there at the end of the day it's their backyard.
@777RANGERS if you realy want some big ones get a penn senator 9/0 or 12/0 if you get the 9/0 spool it with 80 lbs braid and have a 80 mono top shot and ro\d would do but you just got to kayak it out between the 2 sand bars you can land anything with that
I saw him cast the bait out and I was thinking "Is a shark going to come in that close in? It sure did. Good job on using the night vision. Got to luv that about Sony Cameras and an awesome job landing that shark
yeah some days you can get em in that close..i've landed several over 6 ft by wading out to the sandbar then casting another 100 ft or so. but honestly me and my buddies do get more action when we take the baits out 100-200 yards, but I always like to leave 1 rig in close just incase, some days that is the only rig that gets picked up!!
@jsg2891 I havent really done much of this shark from land fishing. This is totally Drew's thing. Drew is gonna be getting his own Youtube channel in 2010
i'm pretty new to land-based big game fishing myself, but have been putting some serious time in on the sand since last summer so this year will be even better and more productive..the surf is a bit calmer here on the southwest florida coast so its a good place to fish for tarpon and sharks from the beach..i'll be looking out for that channel too, good stuff
a better way is to take a canoe or small john boat out todrop your line so that its way out there and then take your pole back and do the same i just bought a 400.00 dollar canoe at sports athurity and it works great
I tried that the other day! A pain loading and unloading the canoe, but it works fine, the only thing that sucks is turning it around after I drop the bait, its a very wide turn, lol. But its only 2-3 minutes ON theIN in the water kicking with scuba fins dragging leader behind me. Another plus is that I can just load all my rods, buckets, and tackle into the canoe and paddle down the inlet to my spot on the beach instead of walking half a mile.
you're not going to get a better deal then what you find on cregs list all you're going to need is something that floats. But if you whant something to fish out of or hold tackle you're looking at 300 toover $500 for something new.
actually it's a black tip there alot of them and they don't allways have a black tip i've caught a lot of them in faurt lauderdale but I use a kayak to paddle out my baits
thats wat me and my dad do.we would go past the breakers and cast there.we sometimes use whitings that we caught mins b4. i cut slits into em and that usually works
sometimes the tips are faded so it is hard to distinguish sometimes... but it was peeling off alot of line even after the drag was tightened and thats about an average sized beach shark..bullsharks fight harder in my experience, i've caught 6 foot blacktips off the lee county beaches and they usually crap out after 10 minutes then its like reeling in a bucket full of water..i'll take any size tarpon or a giant snook over anything in the ocean..pound for pound those are the best battles imo
yeah you usually get better action further out..i need to get a yak..about how much could i get a decent one for taking bait out? i used to swim my bait out 100 yards or so, and i would have about 3 yards of leader dragging behind me incase something happened. once you get out to the warmer water it doesn't touch the bottom..i quit doing that i've seen too many crazy things out there..i wasn't shark fishing but have caught a few sharks doing this. i'd love a nice easy to transport yak.
captain, about how far were you getting those baits out, 140 feet or so? around 100 feet is as far as i can chunk mine out there in average conditions, is that far and deep enough for the tarpon to scoop up a bait?
Those shark baits have the hooks buried in them, I hook the hoglegs lightly for tarpon because of the hookset. Sometimes you can't get your bait out far enough where they are eating. thats fishing.
right..like when i use cut bait for tarpon i cut the tail fin off and hook it right near the tip so hopefully when the tarpon turns away with the bait in his mouth i reel it in hard and the circle hook will be able to latch on to one of the soft spots of the mouth and before i let him go on the first run i apply some pressure first so the hook hopefully embeds
its a sandbar you can tell by the large dorsal fin at the front of the body
