More I listen to Noor Jehan's song (thanx to Mir Sahab), more I am becoming a super fan of her. The Urdu film music is not at all different from our Hindi film music. The style of singing, orchestration or presentation are so similar that sometimes you just get too surprised.
@soumyasbh it is indeed a surprise........up until the late 70s pakistani films and music were very similar to their indian counterparts.... definitely worth watching.... the songs were ok in the 80s especially the punjabi ones, but now the industry has died down and ppl have a negative image of the pakistani industry... i don't think many indians have been exposed to noor jehan's songs....although many of them will know who she is and are aware that she woz one of the best in the subcontinent
@mr7maxx007 People in India will always know and remember Noor Jehan. Please don't forget that 1940's Bollywood is almost all Noor Jehan starting from Khandaan (1942) to Mirza Sahiban (1947) including all time musical hits like Anmol Ghadi (1946), Zeenat (1945) and Jugnu (1947). Judge for yourself how surprising it is that she got her title Malika-e-Taranum after 'Zeenat' in Bombay. So, she actually got it in India and not Pakistan. She herself stated this fact in an interview (Silver Jubilee).
@soumyasbh LOL um before 1947 there was no India or Pakistan a) there was no Bollywood and b) the title was given to her in pre-liberated India thus you cant really say India gave her that title. Other than that yes she will always be remembered as one of the greatest singers to have ever lived in Asia.
@mr7maxx007 I disagree that our music was similar to our Indian counterparts. Im not saying this because I am Pakistani but truthfully we had better poetry and one truly enjoyed listening to a song! Also we had amazing music composition. While India recently discovered item numbers and westernized songs Runa Laila and Naheed Akhtar were already there in the 70's
yeah its gr8 song, i dont know why in pak they r making these kinda movies and songs, naseebo ruin our film industry sung all very bad and vulgar songs i hate her
Film industry is managed by low educated law class peoples nowdays. Probably pimps and gangsters lol Naseebo is low educated street singer singing for money..not for the art. In the end its the paying public who decide which films should be made...'vulgar' seem to be money making thing..
only madam can sing such a great song.
