Yah. I agree with imakebadpivotvideos. Poor thing. And I certainly wouldn't want to watch that orca dying if I was there. It would be too sad. But on the other hand, amazing shots, good telling of the story, and great vid. I love the vid no matter what. Good job, and keep up the good work!

If they had put her back, she might have drowned. In the video you can see how weak she is against the waves coming in. I doubt she would fair well in open water keeping in mind that sharks were waiting.

They said in the video she was very sick/old...did you not notice how she was floating lifelessly on the beach. She was dying, that was not a normal beaching.

she was about to die; and she knew that. otherwise she would have had no problem with sharks or to get to to the open sea again. aquarium would not have helped her in this condition i guess. very sad stuff, btw ....

I think they do that to healthy animals who got beached by accident. It seems that this animal was old or very ill. I think the Ocean Safety people can distinguish between a terminally ill and a healthy individual.

and what do you propose they do? They offered her an anesthetic to ease the pain she was in. If she was healthy and able to survive in the wild she would've unbeached herself. Killer whales are known for coming right onto the beaches for seals and penguins then unbeaching themselves. You can tell she's very sick, she is way too small and thin.

so aside from being cruel and sending her body out to be picked apart, what would you suggest they do?
