Love this Vid! Love the Van even more... It's the ultimate small motor home - take you anywhere and you can sleep in it - comfortably. When I have the cash, we will collaborate on a build... except I would put a Subie WRX engine in it and not a TT, for many reasons... Syncro....the only 4x4 I can think of with perfect 50/50 weight distribution. Stock of course, but even stock with 14" tires it's an awesome vehicle.

Thank you, GMR06, for the additional information. I currently have a Landrover Discovery 1 van which I use for logging, towing and shooting etc etc. Its a good machine but suffers badly from rust. The English just can't get it right...tossers!

After watching many Syncro videos I would say that the Syncro would give any Landrover model a run for it's money. I'm so impressed by the Syncro's abilities, I'm seriously thinking of buying one when my LR is nothing more than a pile of rust.

It really is an amazing van, it might look like a shoebox, but for comfort, bad weather (snows quite a bit in canada)

its a fantastic vehicle. Just don't expect to win any drag races :)

Is it possible to fit the modern Golf 1900 TDi engines into a Syncro, without to much modification? The 150 BHP TDi engine would make it real blast to drive!

pretty much. Just fit it with real offroad tires and you got a pretty well going, possibly 8 person offroad vehicle. But i'd suggest to fit a nother engine under the "hood" than a vw own. Maybe a porche or subaru.

Is it possible that the speed of some of these shots has been, hm, slightly increased? Nevertheless: A really magnificent car, the Syncro. You just have to be careful on dry asphalt roads if you want to take corners really fast. Then the edge between good grip and turnover is a very narrow one...

@paulrandig ive owned a country homes camper,and its very odd but they are no where near as top heavy as they look.my front tires would start sliding id be going so fast around corners and i didnt feel the slightest bit oftipping at all.the vans seem to defy all logic,even in crashes.

Having 140 kgr. of mass very-very low, (protectional guards), this car is much more stable than you can imagine! It doesn't rollover even if you try to achieve it! And especially magnificent is on asphalt where it saves lifes as a result of marvelous handling, thanks to its Steyr's 4WD, which is engaged automatically in sharp or mild cornering and in slippery roads.
