i had to go through a bunch of old english guys jollily reciting the poem before i finally got to this. you clearly have thought a lot about the poem and its meaning. it can be seen that you know excactly what the poem is about. you got it right.
Superb. This is my favorite poem and it's always a pleasure to read out loud or to hear it read aloud well. Thanks for a brilliant and moving rendition.
Like a few others, I too signed up just to comment on this video. Yesterday I finished memorizing this poem myself, and hearing you read it has convinced me that I more or less understand it too - you sound exactly like I imagine Prufrock would. Truly an amazing reading: haunting, poignant, powerful. Thank you!
Funny you should mention Blake and Coleridge -- I am planning to do "Xanadu" and I was thinking about doing "The Lamb" and "The Tyger". (I memorized those a while ago -- in fact you might be able to spot Blake's illustrated version of "The Tyger" on my bathroom wall in my video of "Resume".) Yeats's "The Second Coming" is a good idea too, though I haven't memorized that one -- yet!
I had given up hope of finding more than amateurish and disappointing poetry readings, then I came upon this, and I tell you I was moved. For the entire 8 minutes and some odd seconds I was spellbound. Magnificent! I will insist that the poetry lovers among my friends watch this.
Jamie Andrews Prufrock - that was sublime. I, too, signed up for youtube just to comment on this amazing reading. Can I give you stars somewhere. I'm a fan.
I always wanted to hear this the way TS Eliot meant for it to be read. I think if he were alive today, he would agree, well done my friend. Thank you so much.
You did such a fabulous job! I recently read this poem for a class and you really brought it to life. (I made an account just so I could comment on your video.) Well done!
so many stupid wanna be artists out there, its hard to sift through and find people who are genuinely in tune with the work. this was a perfect reading, absolutely loved it.
