so if i start with pyroblast then add living bomb and while keeping living bomb up at all times then do i only use fireball after that and hit the procs as they come? or do i still cast pyroblast? i dont think im spose to cast pyroblast at all again on that target its only at the first part that i cast that right?

Im having trouble getting to the 17% hit cap, my crit is at 8% , and haste is at 9%, ive reforged to get to 15 percent hit, and have nothing left to reforge into crit...my gems bring me what crit/haste/int i have....and im ilvl 390...how do u get there??/?

With the 4.3 t13 gear buff "Stolen Time" you need about 15/16% haste, without it you need 20%.

In Dragon soul 10man (Not lfr) I average 25-28k dps, and that's average, After 15% haste (With atleast two pieces of t13) I go for crit after that. The rotations are explained great in this video, It's exactly what I do.

Are frost mages still worth playing in 4.3.2 as they got that 6% nerf to two of their spells? I find pve'ing with arcane fun but it gets repetative as you only have 3 spells to work with.

@chingpongionglong fire blast, if specced correctly, should spread all DoTs on one mob to all the surrounding mobs... so it should be used in moderation really, mainly on trash like you say. =) and the spell hit should always be capped... nothing is worse than gaining a hot streak only to see it miss! The video is showing how to do boss/single target fights. To learn how to do a good rotation for multiple target fights should be easily found on the internet =)

I'm getting 39% haste with raidbuffs @ 398 ilvl.

Also, cauterize is actually really helpful on alot of fights where we're used to soak.

Pretty sure you don't need arcane concentration on all fights in DS, madness excluded, and still...

Dude.. It's a great video and all, but the priority of stats now in 4.3 is completely changed because of RNG's. You need to have haste at cap, which is at 2099 haste rating without a warlock giving you DI in the raid so you can reach the highest haste cap which is at 25.88% haste. If you do have a warlock in your raid giving you DI, then you only need 2005 haste rating.. Speaking as a fire mage ever since they introduced talent trees to the game, and pushing about 60k DPS on Ultraxion.

Cauterize is a perfectly valid talent for PvE. And yes, if you stand in bad stuff you will die. But for the most part, several fights in Dragon Soul require you to stand in the bad stuff. And in a perfect world without latency and human imperfection this talent would be pointless. The 500 dps (if that) you gain by not having to evocate as often becuase of Arcane Concentration does not make up for the potential complete lack dps becuase you want to pad your number meter.

Just to add my 2 cents to this video. Always have 17% hit. With the reforge mechanic it's not hard to get, especially if you download the reforge lite mod, does it all for you and gets you to within a tenth of a % most times. Haste is generally considered the next best stat up until the soft cap. Soft cap is the number that gets your combustion an extra tick. That number is 2005 I believe, but with the new tier 2 pieces, you only need 1505. After haste, go crit. Mastery is always reforged off.

Right on. in the 372-378 ilvl range, I think it is better to hit the 15% haste mark, going with Hit-17%, Haste-15%, then reforging into crit. 378 to 2PT13 go for 2005 haste, then back down to 1505 with 2P bonus.

When I was in the low 380's (prior to 2P), after hit/haste caps, with every other spare stat (mastery, extra hit or haste, etc) re-forged into crit, my crit was about 23% unbuffed, 28% with molten Armor, low 30's with 10M buffs.

@Misterdave1975 just sayin' for ppl that aren't so familiar with fire in cata: the 2005 (1505 Tier 13 2pc) haste rating soft cap is based on that you have the talent Netherwind Presence (3/3) and someone that can provide a +5% buff in your raid / party. Wrath of Air Totem, Shadow Priest's Mind Quickening or Moonkin Aura. For Goblins it is 1858 haste rating (1358 with set bonus according to my sheet) cause of the racial.

great guide, I was actually trying my firemage on the dummie today and thinking that at a lower gear level crit should be more beneficial than haste due to no crit = massive loss of damage for fire mages.

You say you want to get to 50% crit fully raid buffed. On this I highly disagree because after you hit 42% crit you no longer receive hot streaks from solo attacks. The only way you will proc it is on back to back crits. So in turn you are losing out on this mechanic in your talent tree when you.should be getting more haste instead. I have run both types of stats 35% crit raid buffef.and also a 38% haste raid buffed. Haste gave me 34k on ultaxion crit only 30k.

You must not be a raider. Clothies are squishy, esp Fire Mages.

Clearcasting has a 10% proc rate. With roughly 2 second Fireball casts, you get 1 free Fireball every 20 seconds. Fireball costs 1.5k mana, Mana Shield uses 8k mana and is up every 12 seconds. Mana Shield casts waste a GCD as well.

Cauterize lets you avoid casting Mana Shield and wasting time not DPSing. It also can potentially restore a full 40% of your HP every 60 seconds.

@hardglock In this video he's using a flask (+300 int), food (+90int), Volcanic Potion (+1200 int) and then 2 procs are up, they look like Power torrent (+500 int) and I assume the other is his Dark Moon card (+1600 int). Add all of those numbers and you'll see that 65k pyro was and extremely lucky, situational hit. In no way is this guy getting 65 or even 50k pyros on a consistent basis.

Also, thankyou for the tip about distance; that was the one thing that i've never thought of. And, one thing that i dont think you stated: when you have hotstreak proc'd, it's valuable to send a fireball at your target at the same EXACT time of the pyroblast release. With this, that fireball that you send, if it crits, will act as the first crit of the next hotstreak pro

@Cx2productionz Getting 65k + pyro's is easy tbh. The more crit you have, doesn't only contribute to the chance, but also the crit damage done on a crit. Combined with spell power, embroidery procs and such like power torrent, pots will give you those big juicy pyro crits, as well as other crits you may have.

I strongy disagree with the arcane concentration vs cauterize. You shouldnt have mana issues, and you WILL die to things even if you are not bad. You should try raiding more and you will find out:) When you are doing Deathwing for example and a tentacle wants to smash you 5 times in a row, and your healers are too slow, you'll appreciate cauterize (random example, but it's 1000x more usefull than arcane concentration)

Also Pyro's are nice to Combust with but not needed. It only contribes to about 10% of a combustion so combusting with a big ignite crit and intell procs would be a lot more ideal.

I disagree. Regardless of intell procs, Pyroblast will almost always cause your highest Ignite dot. Pyro's initial dot probably only contributes to 10%, but the ignite is supposed to contribute the most to Combust.

Cauterize is great. AC is free mana if you don't have mana issues. Caturize has more uses that saving you if you are bad, can be used as a raid cd on say majordomo, pop cd's on tanks and you 2 could take one never done it like this in the past but just an idea towords it and everyone makes makes so it can save your ass sometimes. Not bashing your spec just my two cents.

Picking up Cauterize does not mean your bad it means your cautious. If your Cauterize goes off it could be many things maybe your tank messed up or the healer did or maybe something else. other than that nice job :)

To address the concerns of some: I am aware that at 12.5% LB and pyro get another tick, and at 15% combustion gains another tick. HOWEVER, with my current gear level, in order to get 15% haste I would have to drop so much crit that fire would no longer be viable. At ilvl 390, the 15% break point may become more viable, but at this point - my opinion is that crit is more important. Having the haste to get more tics doesn't help if you don't get any ticks in the first place.

@ulovemen66 getting hit capped would mean 15-20% crit chance and less haste with that gear,i'm not hit capped too and i can get a sustained 17k on dummy with 364 ilvl gear ,but i think that more haste is needed,6% is rly too low
