  • that tight af *to bad i can't afford 3 speedlights let alone afford one.

  • one ? what was your camera settings on I tried it but still there was light of the room showing Email: gerhardsteynphotography@gmail.com

  • @verfkwas Some people dont listen....He said f8 on ISO 200, and I reckon he was shooting at 1/250 of a second to kill ambient! Am I right Michael?

  • So simple !!

    Thanks a lot !!!

  • Amazing,thank you so much.

  • Do you ever answer the questions people ask?

  • your work is amazing!!!!!!! and extremely creative!!!!!!!!

  • Hi, I know this may sound like a silly comment considering you made this video over a year ago, but you said your apprture was set to F8 and iso 200, can you please tell me more about your camera settings? what was your shutter speed? was it on auto white balance? etc.

this was a very good video and would love to try it. well do, greta job and thanks for sharing.

    Greetings Eric

  • the Magyver of lighting...

  • Great pics. I'm going to try your setup. thanks for the video. I subscribed to you

  • I've done that--attaching two flashes to a single umbrella bracket--but never took time to figure out how to make it work. This is brilliant!

  • love the photography tips, you have a kinky side I see

  • love the simplicity of the equipment and setup. Photog on a budget! Nice work! Sexy and beautiful models!

  • Great tips! Always appreciate the perspective of other photographers. I would like to know what lens you used? Camera used also would be helpful. I'm shooting all Nikon and from the looks of it you're shooting Canon in this video! With such a wide range resulting in completely different end results from camera to camera lens to lens. I find it difficult to decide on best case scenario when attempting to achieve specific goals! Thanks again, your expertise is greatly appreciated!

  • @PhotoGav, Basically the distance of the flash is closer to the model is closer as compared to the background which underexposes the background

  • What a great video! There's something I don't understand the theory behind though.

The room lights were left on during the shoot, yet the result in the photos look as if there were NO other sources of light other than the strobes.

    How/why does this happen?

Thank you for a very educational vid.

    Gavin

  • @PhotoGav try f16 or more combine with fast shutter speed, it will kill the ambient light for sure. The next step is adjust the f number to "accept" light from flash. In general, f-number control the flash light, shutter speed controls the ambient light.

    Nice vid, btw...

  • @PhotoGav When using any kind of strobes, you are typically using settings around 1/200 at f8-f11. Most household light bulbs will not have any affect at all at those settings. Try snapping a picture with those settings in a dimly lit room, and you will have a completely black photo. If you wanted to use the ambient light (the room's light bulbs) to add additional light to your picture, you would have to slow down your shutter speed to 1/30 or slower.

  • You're incredible! Every single video from you I watch, I cannot help being amazed at how good you are!

    Keep on the fantastic job!
