My neighbor child and I were checking out a dove's nest last spring, and the mother dove landed on the ground nearby and faked a broken wing, flapping around on the ground, and whenever we got close, she would fly off 20 feet or so and start flapping around on the ground again, to lead us away from her nest. Kinda neat.

i am on a construcction crew and when we built the last house the birds nested inside in the rafters and hatched babies but we had to scrape dead birds out of the house after we put the windows and doors in dispite our efforts to open the windows the mothers didn't come back..... very sad
Aw, those are cute. Birds can sometimes lay eggs in dumb places. A pair of robins built a nest in a crotch of a tree that was only 3 feet off the ground. Sure enough, those babies all disappeared one day. Don't know what predator got 'em but we knew it was gonna happen.

Cool, Earlier this year we had a lot of birds around here. One family made a nest in a dead plant hanging on the front porch, one made a nest in some vines out back and another was in the hole above the back door. Come to think of it, Another one may have used that old nest above the front door too!
My deck is completely enclosed so NO ONE can get back there but us! William goes out there but he doesn't have claws or teeth and he can't get at them.

Sweet. Growing up in Virginia I can remember twice having baby robins to feed and take care of. I taught them how to fly and how to find food. Even after they were on their own during the day, they still came home at night to sleep. People were amazed when the birds swooped down from above and landed on our heads and would ride on our shoulders. Who woulda thought they were so smart??? P.S. Don't let your kitty out; instinct wins out each time.

We had some baby robins in our bush by the front of our house earlier this summer, they looked exactly like the ones in your yard.

Aw, those are cute. Birds can sometimes lay eggs in dumb places. A pair of robins built a nest in a crotch of a tree that was only 3 feet off the ground. Sure enough, those babies all disappeared one day. Don't know what predator got 'em but we knew it was gonna happen.

Cool, Earlier this year we had a lot of birds around here. One family made a nest in a dead plant hanging on the front porch, one made a nest in some vines out back and another was in the hole above the back door. Come to think of it, Another one may have used that old nest above the front door too!

KEEP THE CATS AWAY! I lost my blackbirds to a cat two days ago. Two chicks have been killed and eaten and their mother was laying dead on the ground.

My deck is completely enclosed so NO ONE can get back there but us! William goes out there but he doesn't have claws or teeth and he can't get at them.

Sweet. Growing up in Virginia I can remember twice having baby robins to feed and take care of. I taught them how to fly and how to find food. Even after they were on their own during the day, they still came home at night to sleep. People were amazed when the birds swooped down from above and landed on our heads and would ride on our shoulders. Who woulda thought they were so smart??? P.S. Don't let your kitty out; instinct wins out each time.
