I followed the auction of this cart, I am praying to God that the buyer releases the ROM for this game, it is absolute legend and needs to be shared! Do you still have the buyers email? could you ask him to dump the ROM?
I'm not too concerned about this. I mean, things like this have a way of turning up more than once. Sure, it took years the first time, but I like to think in a few more years someone else will sell it, and maybe that time it will be bought by someone who would dump it.
@minidomino Sorry to reply to an old comment. Anyhow, this company you worked at was "Shinsei", right? From what I gathered, they were meant to publish this game, but apparently the funds ran out, and the Japanese localization was cancelled.
If you worked for "Human Entertainment", the developers, then ignore the above.
I hope that the guy who won the auction will dump the ROM someday.
This version of Monster Party has become some kind of Holy Grail in the western retrogaming community because of some old magazine scans that were leaked on international forums many years ago. So you may understand the excitement.
How did you obtain the cartridge?
Do you know someone who worked at Bandai?
Did you know it was a rare prototype and not the actual game?
This is one of my all-time personal favorite games, and to see an existing prototype, even a bit of it, is like Christmas morning for me. Long live Monster Party!
I read on some English retrogaming site that Monster Party's prototype cartridge was sold on Yahoo Auction some months ago, but the price rose way too high and this discouraged the English collectors to bid.
I guess you are the winner of that auction, right?

Whether it is released to the internet or not, I hope the ROM is at least dumped to protect it from bit rot.

Oh my god I wish you dumped this rom. for history's sake. However, you made $6000 though so I'm happy for you.

@SmokeVHS If it helps, according to Nintendoplayer, the Yahoo ID of the guy who won it is "Famicom_2008"

I hope the winning bidder dumps the ROM, so that we could play a real prototype of monster party!

I got the cartridge from a game company where I worked at more than 10 years ago, they were going to throw it away.
I guess the prototype one was delivered for game company at that time.
Actually I do not know the person who works at Bandai.
I checked on the web when I released at auction, and recognized that it was the prototype(shown on the label) and does not exist in Japan.
By the way, a winning bidder gave me a comment that he confirmed the all 8 stages and the ending.

I just shot this video to sell them at auction.
It has already been sold, so I don't have it any more.
I don't dump the ROM, of course.
I didn't know how valuable it is!
Thank you very much for your comments!
