  • 2 stupids in 156.908. Good )

  • That is one wild guitar.

  • @dw23saint

  • Somebody shut this homo up.

  • @ecnalubma696969 which homo???? the one you looking at in da mirror?????

  • Bo Diddley

  • The King!!!!!

  • What an Amazing Singer-Dancer! Brilliant!

  • 1. Stop the video

    2. Press play

    3. Press 2

    4. Look at the retarded dancing of the host !!!

  • The dancers on this show were awesome,,they did alot of the classic dances from this era,,like The Monkey,The Jerk, the Boogaloo to name a couple..Love It !!!!! I wish I could turn back the hands of time...:-(

  • The man is a legend

  • I feel as if I was born in the wrong era...

  • holy crap, that host has the most dainty dance I have ever seen.

  • damn! white men cant dance!!!

  • When the intro was over and camera moved to Bo, it is so unreal, man that is so epic and looks out of place.

  • The Duchess in the black leather is cool as ice and hot as the sun....

  • Go Duchess!

  • The Brunette behind the host in the beginning. That's what I call Natural Male Enhancement Motherfuckers!!!!

    That's a 20th Century Fox Boys & Girls.

    For real.

  • Diddley Dead

  • These dancing girls are fantastic:D

  • i want a Gazzarri dancer

  • @slw59 :

Don't we all! Those girls were gorgeous.

There's a website devoted to them. Check out gazzarridancers-dot-com.

  • Frank Kirkland was one of the drummers who worked with Bo. He was not a guitar player. The other drummer Bo used was Clifton James.

  • Who are the female guitarist?!?

  • That's Bo's sister, 'The Duchess'.

  • That's good to know : ) He designed his own guitar?!? Damn : ) So, it's a six string or is it a type of bass guitar?

  • Bo designed a couple of six string electric guitars. One was the famous rectangle shaped Gretsch that was still in production up until recently.

He also had a hand in designing the Thunderbird, which has been reissued as the BillyBo Jupiter Thunderbird. He's playing that guitar in the clip above. Hope that helps.

  • Very fascinating. Yes, it does help.

  • wasnt really his sister, he just told everybody that so the guys on tour with him wouldnt try and get it on with her

  • Man, those verses are so true. I can't believe how music is, sadly, turning out in America.

  • PAUL CINNAMON blamed the BEATLES for wiping out ROCK n ROLL of the conciousness of AMERICA...I don't agree with HIM. AMERICA has lived in mediocrity since 1972 after generating GREAT MUSIC it has dissapeared up its own arsehole...MAKING GUNS KILLING PEOPLE instead of singing hallelujah.

BO I seen him twice.HE WAS WAY OUT THERE.the pioneer and generator.THIS GUY ROCKS..and he was a SHERIFF as well...his audience turned WHITE in the sixties even his wiff was white one day but THE DUCHESS?sherocks

  • America killed rock and roll all by itself, the same idiot white Christian Taliban were as alive and well back then as they are now. The Beatles revived it until Disco - another form of black music - finally killed it. This video - and most of the videos available from Chuck and Richard and all the other founders of rock and roll - is from the mid 60s, 10 years after the fact.

  • what the fuck are you talking about?

  • In the late 50s all the christian fundamentalists got together and killed rock and roll. It was black music. The devils music. By 1960 all that was left was pasty white clones like Pat Boone and Fabian with a lot of innocuous pap. It was the Beatles who brought back rock and roll in 1964.

  • Okay I totally agree with that but what is the Christian Taliban?

  • The payola mess had something to do with it. DJs taking money to play specific songs was kind of a killing blow after all the record burnings and such. By the time of the Beatles, teenagers were not so easily pushed around. The same Christian uproar ensued and led to nothing.

  • I couldn't have said it better myself.

  • you are fucking bang on pal! bands used to have fans' now they have customers!

  • Sam Riddle and 93-KHJ had over 70% of the radio audience in Los Angeles in the 60s. Beatles, Stones, Motown etc.

    Man those days were great.

  • This music is going to ruin our children!!!

  • wow! that is GREAT ! Wonder why this is such a truncated version of the band..no

bass player ? No Jerome On Maracas?

But dig the way Bo dances thru the whole thing, slippin' & slidin'.. he couldna been THAT tired! And the amazzing Bubble 'Do

on his riddim guitar player! RIGHTeous!

  • All lip sync ,back on TV. then

  • I think I mean I'm sure as I am reading a book on BO that first time round he brought JEROME and DUCHESS but no drummer and no bass player...I dunno why jerome ain't here. Sadly the DUCHESS id no longer with us...she's with BO...in HEAVEN...or maybe they're in HELL playing devil's music ! I dig HELL...

  • On the other hand -- speaking of overcoming things like fatigue during a show -- I saw Bo play in Victoria in 1990, and he blew the doors off the place (it was a really emotional night: Stevie Ray Vaughn had just died in that helicopter crash and David Gogo, who had played with and opened for SRV, opened for Bo). It wasn't till afterwards that Bo was playing despite having just had dental implants, so he was in tremendous pain despite the medication. Now, there was a showman!

  • not bad, not bad.... im from germany, the first time i heard of bo diddley was in the sitcom "according to jim" with jim belushi. Very nice

  • Yep, Jerome sure was his maracas man. He was also his "nemesis" on Bo's hit "Say Man" from the late summer/early fall of '59, which was the result of a heavily edited version of Jerome & Bo trading good natured insults in the studio while the tape was still running.

  • Thank you for letting me know that the maracas man was Jerome Green. In person, Jerome was an amazing show man. Bo , Jerome, and the drummer (does anybody know the original drummer's name) would always set the Apollo theatre crowd off with dancing all over the building. Growing up in the 50's, Bo was my all time favorite Rhythyn and Blues/Rock n' Roll act!!

  • yes I cld find out...hang about...one's billy DINO Downing second one could be FRANCK KIIRKLAND but I dunno who plays in this clip.

  • He's doin' the mashed potatos!

This dude is an unsung hero of Rock 'N Roll'

    Uncredited too!

    Naughty America when it's racist!!!!!

  • it's also that CHESS bros had forgotten to tell BO his back catalogue also sold significantly in EUROPE not just the U.S. therefore defrauding him of his hard-earned cash. MAD-OFF would have a lot to learn from the CHESS bros as they never got caught just told off like naughty school boys now and again. If Sara-Jessica PArkerman approaches you with a recording contract from her uncles company, just decline!

  • my drum teacher played in a concert with bo diddly. he tells me that bo diddly was always irritated about somthin.

  • Do the Shotgun, now!!

  • This is great mid 1960's Bo Didley. In the 1950's he played wuth just a drummer and a man who played the Marackas(sp?). Both of these men were incredible musicians that added immensely to Bo's act. Does anybody know the names of these two musicians, or have any 1950's Bo Didley videos?

  • Jerome...jerome Green was the maracas player...the DUCHESS allegedly pulled a gun on BO once but the reasons remain mysterious. BY THE W..it's DIDDLEY with three DDs...

  • Who is the female guitar player with him? So unusual for the time? Where is she now?

  • the marvellous Norma-Jean Wofford, aka "The Duchess"

  • If you're heard one of bo's songs you're heard them all.He was ok but Jimmy Reed was better. Type in jimmy reed, Down in Virginia or Big Boss Man you will enjoy.

  • Can't really compare those two???? Totally different styles.

  • shut the fuck up and let him go!

  • WHY, would I want her in my bed with her clothes on ??

  • Good point. I'd sure like to know if that really is Barbi Benton. It looks like her, and she lived near where this was filmed. She's be about 16 then, if that is her.

  • RIP BO. LOVE U ALWAYS.

  • The dancer behind the announcer, Nice outfit but it would look better in a pile on the floor beside my bed.

  • But then....a young Barbi Benton would have nothing on!

  • go bo go!, more than just your average blues player, a truly unique talent and sorely missed, just wish there was music like this now!

  • who is the lady playing with him?

  • Just fantastic, love the Duchess, a real woman. RIP Bo.

  • I still have the purple Chess LP after all those years. It is a monument.Thank you Bo...

  • 1.000.000 stars for the great legend! Rest in peace Bo!!!!!!!

  • What an ultimate time capsule. Bo is the man.

The Beatles and Stones worshiped him!

The Duchess is better than 99% of anyone on the planet.

These go-go dancer chicks are amazing!

  • Do the shotgun, now!

  • the dancing is typical 1960s go-go style from americab teenager TV shows. And, by the way, was that THE DUCHESS, HIS GORGEOUS SISTER, in front, at the beginning. (hear about her in the Story of Bo Diddley by the group the Animals, from 1964, first album on UK Columbia).

  • man bo played you ofaces big time.

  • Our tribute to the great blues hero Bo Diddley is on my YouTube site. Hope you like it, there is a lot of harmonica in it.

  • From all of your dear friends up here in beautiful Toronto,Canada, where you visited the terminally ill chidren at the Hospital for Sick Children,we, I am sure they will always remember your loving ,generous heart Bo,

    Da Girlz,

    Toronto,Canada.

Of course all those who are no longer with us, but with you now Bo.

    R.I.P. X.O.

  • hahaha rofl look at the dancers!

  • im tryin to enjoy the music but i cant help but laugh at those dancers!! ahaha, wTF were they thinking!

  • lol-- you're right. It was all lip synched and choreographed on that show. pretty weird. But it's even worse today, I think. At least then it was live (and you can see the mistakes)

  • @havemercybabe how the fuck would u laugh at the awesome go go dancers????

    they are hardcore

you obvioslu are either jealous or dont know shit about the 60's

  • The Grandfather of Rock 'n Roll - RIP Bo. You and Chuck were before Elvis, and I hope your next-of-kin get the royalties you had to give up. You came off as a bitter old man, but doggone it, you were right. May you be recognized as the pioneer you were someday.

  • Like Bo Diddly sez : Its awl ´bout rythm mo fo!

  • Bring back GO GO Dancers.

  • "Bring back GO GO Dancers." - See

"When yer young, ya gotta have yer fawn

Cuz when ya get old, the fun is gone"

Werds ta live by ya geeks!!!

  • The brunette is Courtney Cox

  • I think the brunette is Courtney Cox

  • Bo was/is a God:

    - the 'Jimi Hendrix of the 50's'

...I wonder if that brunette go-go has some female offspring somewhere - ???...

  • RevRabbitNov63 asked about the brunette go go dancer...

My answer is: I think the brunette go-go dancer is ex-playboy bunny and former Hefner girlfriend Barbi Benton.

  • The brunette is Courtney Cox

  • Courtney Cox was (maybe) 2 years old when this video clip was recorded... the chick behind "DJ" Sam Riddle is Ms Benton, it was a well known fact that she was a dancer on "Hollywood a go-go".

  • Just a joke...Courtney Cox was in the Springsteen video (Dancing in the Dark 1984)

  • Jimi knew more than 3 chords

  • RIP BO. LOVE U ALWAYS.

  • RIP

  • RIP Bo.

  • This song is so catchy!!.

  • Thats one of the Boss Jock of 93 KHJ AM radio fame here in Los Angeles the great Sam Riddle giving the introduction. Once you've invented something we all become follower... We all live in the shadow of his greatness RIP Bo Diddly you won't be forgotten on my Stereo/ i-Pod/ car player/you are as good as it gets.

  • The go-go chicks look super hardcore! Women's fashions sure have declined since then...

  • Yep, those Gazzari's dancers were gorgeous. And while they may not exactly have been classical ballerinas, at least they did recognizable dance moves back then -- not like today's club girls who just flail their bodies around.

  • he should be playing this in a black dive in lousiana. the dancing white dorkets look really out of place.

  • Maybe, but they sure were cute!

  • @sleazypig fuck off, typical fuking black bitch with a chip on her shoulders.... this video is to be enjoyed, not to have bitter black people make racist derogatory comments.

  • @TheYaom I am a 35 year old white guy. What the fuck are you talking about you stupid dumb ass.

  • R.I.P. Bo Diddley!

  • This is it!

  • That was the most convoluted introduction by a TV show host I have ever heard.

  • He did know Diddley!

    RIP Bo..

  • rip bo you're awsome

  • The Bo Diddley beat will live on! RIP Bo Diddley.

  • RIP, Bo.

/btw, those '60s chicks are still hotties

  • take a good look at this video..thats The Dutchess...playing guitar with Bo Diddley...she is a rock and roll pioneer in her own right...they have both left this earth now...RIP

  • Bo Diddley is Jesus!

  • Bring it to Jerome! Long live bo!

  • yes 9th st west was great im 55 went to high school in bellflower. krla--kfwb-khj they were the stations that ruled.. wolfman jack anyone???

  • 'Stations that ruled???? No way. In the early 60s KHJ had over 80% of the AM audience. No station like it ever.

Sam Riddle, The Real Don Steele, Charlie Tuna!

  • EMPEROR hudson !! boss jocks forever!!!

  • boss jockets forever!!!!!

  • Does anyone who lived in Los Angeles remember 9th Street West, it was a dance rock show where the kids sat in the bleechers on stage. I can't find any of those shows. My cousins and I were on the show a couple of times, sure would like to find it.

  • I'm 18 working for a potboiler FM station in Van Nuys and the only one in the suite where the station is located...It is summer of '67 and in walks a black guy carrying an album and acting ever so cool...He tells me he's Bo Diddley and doing a gig at a nightclub in Granada Hills that evening...I throw away the format (3 in a row MOR music) and go with Bo on the air...What a nice, superb man...Saw him LIVE two more times...in Salinas, Ca. and in Vegas...A legend that never got his dues...

  • I'm pretty sure Bo Diddly has the coolest dance moves... :P

  • The Gazzarri Dancers regularly appeared on the syndicated 1965 TV show Hollywood a go go. They are from the Gazzarri disco on Sunset Strip. My favorite video of the Gazzarri Dancers is on the Dee Dee Sharp Mashed Potato Time clip.

  • I liked the intro with Sam Riddle and the go-go dancers better than the sloppy lip-sync by Bo. But hey, whatever. I'm just glad that somebody posted this thing.

  • damn.. good lookin go go dancer behind the announcer in opening.. ( ooops!, oh the music_) lol, thats good to. hehe

  • I know someone who plays EXACTLY like Bo Diddley. It really is a shame, however, that this guy I refer to is a complete cunt!

  • After absorbing Bo's greatness, maybe after 20 or so plays, you notice the Duchess, the sultry, sexy Duchess.. WOW, she puts the flailing arm waving white chicks to shame! Great Video!

  • I thought that was Darth Vader.

  • Nice! Thanks.

  • there was also another woman before the Duchess. I can't think of her real name, but she went by "Lady Bo".

  • Cool!!

  • It's NOT that Bo isn't the coolest guitar player with specs...and that this performance isn't the coolest, but I gotta say that the go-go dancer behind Sam Riddle is the sh*t... I think she's Barbie Benton(playboy bunny), can enyone confirm? thanks for the Bo...

  • Bo had a female guitarist?

  • Yes, his sister. "The Duchess"

  • I always thought those 'made for Bo' Gretschs' were the coolest looking guitars ever made. He 'had it' in spades.

  • Dy-no-mite! Hott stuff, I luv it!

  • Ah, the simpler time: When local stations could afford to throw on a musical act people had heard of, and when people would actually watch.

Causes me to yearn for locally produced non-news fare again.
