  • Great plane i wish to have one someday

  • Used to watch these beautiful planes at Manchester Airport (used to be Ringway) in the '50s. The carrier was Lufthansa and they were the most exotic aircraft to land at Ringway. Love to see another one.

  • temeplhof i see it out of my windows ( 50 - 100 meters , sad that it's closed , i started learning flying on that amazing airport

  • um espetáculo esse avião...

  • Now that's a proper aircraft!

  • @ArcticEwi A beautiful proper aircraft, with classic piston engine sounds, and stylish look!

  • @fs10inator I Couldn't agree more! I brought the Connie a few visits in the Aviodrome and she is really impressive.

  • Nice aircraft. Thumbs up!

  • this happens to be a 1049G (USNavy version, round windows. C121G).

  • @FErecip that is not a 1049G that is a 749 model

  • My family and myself flew in one of these form Honduras to Miami (TWA) in 1957. I will never forget it. The plane was configured with sleeping bearths towards the rear for inter continital flights though not use on our flight.

  • wonderful handsome kite

  • Old birds of Glory...

  • Nice job capturing this Connie's takeoff despite having to shoot through a Cyclone fence!

  • L-049 & L749 both had round windows. When they streched the bitch in the super G series it had the square windows. I have logged over 300 K miles in Connies since 1950.

  • @nedarc do you happen to have any photos of your time in the connie? and what airline did you fly?

  • schade, dass man dort mittlerweile nicht mehr stehen darf :(

  • @kulshan1947 Super Constellations of the 1049 series had square windows.

  • The round windows and other configurations distinguish this as a regular 749 Connie, NOT the 1049 "super" series; radar added to the nose doesn't change it into a "super' series.

  • Pround to be one that has flown on one .

  • Most beautiful bird ever designed

  • Sorry, no, this is the famous MATS C-121A, a Lockheed 749 straight Connie.

    Radar is no distinguishing feature.

The plane is now on static display in South Korea.

  • You are right, I have seen it once in 1998 at an airshow in Altenrhein / Bodensee Switzerland and since then followed up it's way to it's sad ending as a static display in Korea.

  • need to get this Connie back in the states...

  • I took some pictures of her and have a great video. If you can get it back to the States I owe you one.... :-)

Too bad you don't live in Europe. There is a very active L-1049F, and soon an L-1649A will be here flying.

  • This is a Constellation, not Super

  • Maybe. Some of the Supers didnt have the extra tank at the wings. But its always a beauty.
