I think the reason why "masturbation" is used as a negative is because, in the context in which you used it as a metaphor, you meant it as "self-pleasuring". Which isn't a bad thing, as you said, but "self-pleasuring" easily gets stretched out to "*selfish* pleasuring", which *is* bad.
You enjoy your "mental masturbation" on these vids (I assume), but we enjoy watching them, so your self-pleasuring isn't selfish. The guy you described - he *is* being selfish in his self-pleasuring.
I was always taught that the difference between being taught something and truly learning it is your ability to communicate it with someone else. Talking isn't necessarily communicating. Likewise, fucking isn't necessarily good for both (or all) parties involved. Which leads me to believe that perhaps (just perhaps) there is some non-consensual mental fucking going on. But that is a rather unpleasant line of thought...
But I wish to add what Professor Deely taught his Philosophy class at a small Catholic Midwestern college in 1979: The real test for understanding is how many ways we can explain a thing and stay true to the central meaning.
Sorry, no insight to offer on the quality problem.
I work in Cambridge, MA (the home of Harvard and MIT) and you cannot go to any restaurant there without grad students or professors talking (i.e. lecturing) slightly louder than they need to be about, say, the theoretical ramifications of applying the models of quantum chaos onto modern-day economic systems, or perhaps posturing the etymology of the menu items and how it reflects the overall human condition and society from which it was created. It gets tiring really fast..
It seems that I get stuck in a class with a person like that every semester. Sometimes it's a student, sometimes a Professor lol. I always really hate it.
JennDer, my friend — I believe you are confusing masturbation with 'jacking off & not cumming'! Doesn't the term Masturbation imply a climax? Yet, those who offend our sense of purpose never seem to ... finish.
Well put! I would argue that masturbation - like sex, making love, fucking, etc - (at least in my view) does not imply climax. In fact, sometimes masturbation ends up going on forever without climax, although that happens less than when you're with other people, for various reasons. I mean all that in terms of intellectual/mental activities, of course. ;)
I think the distinction you've made between mental masturbation in a class and your youtube videos is key. Masturbation is a fine thing for your own pleasure, but doing it in front of people turns it into a sport, like bullriding. In fact, almost exactly like bullriding. The point is, in a public class setting, your disgustingly forced to watch this guy mentally masturbate, where as on youtube, I'm given the choice. I don't know if that totally vidicates you, but, hey, great video.
I have a guy like that in my Psychology class. It's a little annoying because he goes on rants with the teacher, and I feel like I might not learn. Unless thats how I'm supposed to learn that way, in which case, I guess I am failing already...
You are too cute and it gave me great pleasure to see that you had a new video up. In a "you masturbated for my pleasure" kind of way, I suppose. Ok, that sounds creepy.

Sometimes you want to get off on them,
Sometimes you want them to get off on you. Sometimes the mental zippy is out of both your hands:)

Sometimes people start masturbating with them. Sometimes they start mental fucking each other across the room. But hey, thats a whole other story.
