Duran's greatest asset in my opinion is his head movement , rarely if ever is he nailed cleanly, his body head attack is extremly balenced I can't see Floyd ever manning up and stepping in the ring with Hagler. You can sit back and configure who would win Floyd or Marvelous, but I know in my heart of hearts Floyd would never take Marvin on!!! Duran may have squandered his talent to a degree but he was willing to fight the best and often which is something Floyd is unwilling to do.
@grobsean I don't know about destroy..IMO, Floyds technical approach to the sport along with his defense and speed would keep him competitive with the best of any era.. Same goes with Pacquiao, with his combination of speed, power and his ability to take a punch would keep him competitive against the best of any era.. Not saying I favor Pac or Floyd against any of them, but I don't think they'd get destroyed.

It would have loved to see Aaron Pryor and Duran at 140... It would have been a great fight.. Chavez had a better chin than Palomino, and better defensive ability too.

I don't think Chavez had a better beard than Palomino? If anything Palomino was naturally larger so therefore could take a better punch. Trust me Duran would of easily KO'd Chavez!

just like you find this Panamanian Romero who argues Chavez would of beaten Duran; I'm sure there are many Mexicans who will argue the obvious case for Duran. He would of inflicted a brutal beating on Chavez stopping him as well; just look at Chavez when hit by the light punching Randall; he went in full retreat mode. Even Chavez himself has stated on DVD "Duran is the best of all the Latin fighters"!

Wewll, Romero never said Chavez would beat Duran but he let the "opportunity" open.
I think Duran would decision Chavez, you gotta remember Chavez had an outstanding chin. The Chavez who got dropped and beaten by Frankie Randall, who was a great fighter himself, was already a bit chopworn.

He was too. Apart from Chavez, he also beat Chapo Rosario and Juan Martin Coggi. Maybe not an all time great but nonetheless, he was a great fighter, much better than the millions who never became Champion.

Rosario harder puncher than Duran? simply not true! do you honestly believe Chapo could of been competitive the way Roberto was in the higher weights? NO! how about knocking down Barkley or TKO'ing Cuevas & Moore or fighting on relatively even terms against Hagler? ABSOLUTELY NOT!

judas... At 135, Rosario was a bigger one-punch hitter than Duran...he just wasn't nearly as good a fighter. Don't confuse my saying Chapo hit harder to mean he was more effective.

think about this if Duran had never moved up in weight; how long could he have ruled the lightweights for? eg. in 1989-90 while Chavez fought Taylor in what most people regarded as a great fight. Duran fought Barkley way past his prime at the age of 37 at 160, in what was an awesome show of will talent & toughness. So Duran could of been champ for 17years
