  • Duran's greatest asset in my opinion is his head movement , rarely if ever is he nailed cleanly, his body head attack is extremly balenced I can't see Floyd ever manning up and stepping in the ring with Hagler. You can sit back and configure who would win Floyd or Marvelous, but I know in my heart of hearts Floyd would never take Marvin on!!! Duran may have squandered his talent to a degree but he was willing to fight the best and often which is something Floyd is unwilling to do.

  • @grobsean I don't know about destroy..IMO, Floyds technical approach to the sport along with his defense and speed would keep him competitive with the best of any era.. Same goes with Pacquiao, with his combination of speed, power and his ability to take a punch would keep him competitive against the best of any era.. Not saying I favor Pac or Floyd against any of them, but I don't think they'd get destroyed.

  • This is sickening to watch. Why? Watching the destruction of a very promising natural prospect due to the stupidity of his managers matching Nsubuga against Duran. Criminal. And Duran? At his most ferocious and effective in this fight. Amazing to watch him. But sad to see what happens to Nsubuga against the greatest fighter who ever laced on a pair of gloves.

  • @2vintage68 Duran isn't even in top shape here.

  • It would have loved to see Aaron Pryor and Duran at 140... It would have been a great fight.. I would probably lean toward a Duran KO late, but I guarantee it would have been a tremendous showing of skill and will by both fighters. Too bad Aaron Pryor missed out on all the big fights in his prime other than Arguello but Arguello was no Duran, Leonard or Hearns...

  • It's unfortunate that a fighters management would throw a guy with 12 fights in with an alltime great, Davey Moore unfortunatly took a more severe beating and his pro experience was virtually the same as Nsubuga.

  • The only other contender for p4p best of all time would be Roy Jones. Duran vs Jones at equal size would be a tossup; my money would be on Duran but I'd be prepared to lose it.

Duran vs Ray Leonard or Hearns at equal size would last five or six rounds at most.

  • Tell them to take that new style of boxing back...it's defective.

  • this its the same ref. who took his life after the fight mancini vs a corean fighter

  • duran was a much better fighter than a 36-5 ray leonard

  • Comment removed

  • I remember too, duran trained for the 1st fite with Leonard like he was signed to fite Godd almighty himself! He trained twice as harder as he ever had before, we all know what Duran must have really thought of Leonard, thats for sure.He won by a fraction, & Leonard trained like he did for any fighter. Duran couldnt train that hard twice tho. He even lied after the 2nd fight, "no fair, I wasnt trained as good, boo hoo" Fuck you cholo

  • Dundee was so rite, move side-to-side on Doran & it drives him nutts, he wasnt a talented enough boxer to deal with it, he just expected the other guy to stand in front of him- & when he didnt he got mad as a wet-hen. first he would get mad- if getting mad didnt work he would say "no mas sir" & quit, like he did when Dundee proved his comment when he told sugar ray to move side to side in the 2nd fite

  • @uppitynigger wasn't talented enough of a boxer? how else would you expect Duran to train? he was a Lightweight leap-frogging the entire 140 division to take on an all-time Great Welter in his own natural weight class. Your comments are biased & laughable!

  • @judaschongo biased & laughable- sounds just like cholos boxing record, especially the early part where he was fighting nothing but set ups. the later part, where he was losing to everybody he fought, was just sad though

  • @uppitynigger no love for the Greatest Lightweight in history; damn what's this world coming to?

never again will I underestimate the predictability of your stupidity!

  • @judaschongo funny=thats exactly what I thought when he up & quit, whats this world coming to. I guess you understood the predicability of that shit tho, didnt you

  • @uppitynigger what about being the only Lightweight to have captured the Middleweight title, and at 37. Or being the 1st man to defeat Leonard, or the severe beating he inflicted on Moore. Or how about being the only man in 83' to have gone the distance with Hagler, and all the shit will practically well into his 30's; but however you fail to recognize any of that though.

fighting set ups at 135? LOL! are you implying he ducked anyone there?

  • @judaschongo Your right, he was 1st to "beat" Leonard, by about half a point. First he swears to the world that he wont even accept a win unless he knocks Leonard dead, then he barely eeks out a win on points & he is poundind his chest all night like he just killed King Kong- get over yourself you runt. He did infilict a beating on Moore, you right, he thumbed him in the eye so he couldnt see, just like he hit Buchannon in the balls, bigdeal

  • @uppitynigger Thumb lol DURAN completely outclassed moore and almost killed him !!

  • @MrBoomy8 shit happens in boxing? the referee should of never worked after that fight. Are you implying the "thumb" is the only reason he won? LOL!

  • @judaschongo No DURAN completely outclassed moore almost killed him, ROBERTO DURAN the greatest fighter to ever lace up the gloves, HANDS OF STONE the little master !!

  • @MrBoomy8 I don't disagree with you at all! Gil Clancy the legendary trainer said it best: "Duran has proven to me once again that he's 1 of the Greatest fighters that ever lived"!

During his epic fight in 89' for the Middleweight Crown

  • @MrBoomy8 sure he did, goody for him, so impressive i bet

  • @judaschongo I agree with you buddy, and the hagler fight DURAN was ahead on the scorecards after 12 rounds, with todays 12 rounders he would have defeated the marvelous one !!

  • @judaschongo then for the second fight with sugar ray, whatshedo-This is the fight he says he will finish him for real- whats he do? He hired Panama Lewis- the biggest cheat in the history of the sport! Remember how the ring sank in the middle, remember Sugar Ray pointed it out between round 1 & 2?? Thats one way to stop a guy from dancing I guess. If it dont work, I suppose you can always QUIT, NO MAS. Does that ring a bell cholo?

  • @uppitynigger & first lightwt to win middle, dont even make us laugh. You dont take a mans title away just by knocking him down, not when the sport was a real sport you didnt

  • @uppitynigger it was a close fight no doubt; the knock down made the difference! what's the big deal?

  • @judaschongo no big deal at all, thats exactly what I am saying- no big deal at all, never was

  • @uppitynigger your whole argument revolves around that 1 loss in which your absolutely correct, he quit! so what? he's Cholo, the only fight that could've gotten away with that!

  • @judaschongo my argument revolves around the little squirts entire boxing career, & you know it

  • @uppitynigger his entire career? no credit to DeJesus or Buchanan, how about Suzuki, Lampkin, or the Viruet's? uppity don't lie to yourself.

now go home and get your shine box.

  • @judaschongo shit too, I hope he could beat some of those people! Even a couple of them he had to cheat on, but why dont you point out Benitez, Hearns (who nearly tore off his poor small head), Nino freakin Gonzales, Kirkland freakin Laing, (who he wore his famous lavander shorts for, wheeee)

and your on pretty dangerous ground if you want to crak jokes about shoe shines asshole, duran is probably back to shining shoes as we speak

  • But asshole, I aint gonne ride you, if you want like to look up to a quitter who needs to cheat to win, who loves to accuse every other fighter of ducking opponents when it is really him who is constantly jumping from weight to weight to run away from people, this sawed off little shrimponthebarbie FAGGOT, be my guest. You yourself said who could get away with quitting but Duran, exactly. He always gets away with it, we are so impressed

  • @uppitynigger A asshole ROBERTO DURAN his the greatest fighter to ever lace up the gloves, conditioning was his only weakness, he fought for five decades never ducked anyone from lightweight to super-middle if not for poor training habits would never have lost !!

  • @MrBoomy8 dam dude, why dont you just polish his balls for him, might as well

  • you are right about conditioning being his weakness tho, thats for sure. If his opponent came in well-conditioned, he got real weak real fast- like no mas BWAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @MrBoomy8 even though conditioning cost him in many of his fights, conditioning also is what made duran the fighter he was. when he trained, he trained like an animal and could go 50 rounds! the punks nowadays couldnt go a round with duran! the best ever!

  • @The7thSunSon I agree ROBERTO DURAN p4p the best ever !!

  • @uppitynigger you got the brain of a fly! according to you his tenure at 135 was weak? LOL! the only 1 who thoroughly KO'd Duran was Hearns! not Benitez? that was more of an out-hustling via decision. You never freakin' mention how Duran was way past his natural weight of 135 and well into his 30's in many of those encounters! Whether you think it was close or not Duran won the Gonzales fight; and rightfully so!

according to you who was better at 135? entertain me....LOL!

  • @judaschongo "no mas, i got a tummyache sugar ray, you are too good for me- I know i said I would keel you, but I am quitting, boo hoo, you scare me" BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA. dude, i am sorry for you

  • @uppitynigger a sawed off queer quitter in lavander, thats all the fuck he is, who quits when the going gets tuff, i dont got time for this bullcrap no more

  • @uppitynigger and can you imagine what that little SOB runt would have said if anybody woulda quit against him?? But its OK for him to do it I guess, he had a tummyache. he ate too much food, poor robbie, Its OK when he cheats too, sure it is, its OK that you bring Panama Lewis with you robbie, dont cry

  • @uppitynigger you little shrimp piece of shit

  • @uppitynigger have some decency don't talk about your genitalia here!

  • pasaran 100 años para que salga entre los latinos un boxeador del calibre de Robeerto Durán!!!! Para gloria de Panamá.....

  • Duran looks like he trained in the bar for this fight...ughhh. Like Ray Arcel said" Roberto, the only man that can beat Roberto Duran is..HIMSELF." = lack of commitment and training. When Roberto was motivated and in shape..he was UNBEATABLE. Why would they want to ruin this kid like this? The guy never came close cause they treated him like a piece of meat, he wasn't ready for this. Wrecked his career.

  • Could you see chavez beating iran barkley, don't think so DURAN would have killed chavez!

  • it would of been a brutal beating! it wouldn't be no close fight or a decision like some morons think. Duran was a Superman, and Chavez a Neanderthal.

  • @viglen4 and bad! some think it would of been by decision too? ridiculous! Duran slaughters him at any weight class.

  • @judaschongo : Only a moron thinks any lightweight would ever "slaughter" prime Chavez. To state such a thing is silly, over-the-top shit-talking and isn't to be taken seriously.

Actually, you and that other poster with whom you find such agreement are about right for one another. A couple of geniuses...

  • @Kedbuka thanks ked!

  • @viglen4 I agree wholeheartedly! some people think it would of been a close fight with Duran getting the nod via decision? Duran butchers Chavez in any weight!

  • Chavez was good but DURAN was a all-time great, another thing a peak well conditoned DURAN would beat ray leonard every day of the week, DURAN a complete fighter ! chavez it's a joke DURAN would have destroyed him.

  • @viglen4 amen brother!

  • @viglen4 i love them both and I don't think Chavez or Duran would really DESTROY each other... But it would be a sick match at LW...

  • @marinlille don't be thick & delusional! Duran inflicts a beating at any weight class: 135-47lbs

  • @viglen4 amen!

  • @viglen4 if ur saying mexican are weak ur wrong duran was half mexican if u didnt know and grew up watching mexican macho wrestlers that made him so macho

  • duran the best ever

  • damn near 100% of the times; your only as good as your competition.

  • roberto duran rules!!!

  • Great Post!

  • I never tire of watching DURAN, what a awesome fighter, we miss u ROBERTO DURAN.

  • Please....Duran would not KO Chavez. Chavez was never hurt until he was past his prime....Duran was a great puncher, but I believe Edwin Rosario was actually a harder puncher than Duran, & he couldn't make Chavez blink. Duran is the greatest 135lber ever, & would beat Chavez. But, it would be the greatest battle of all time.

  • hell naw

  • ha ha ha! your joking right?

  • You're just joking, right?

  • Duran wouldnt have KOed Chavez. Palomino is probebly the most Chavez-like opponent Duran ever faced, and Duran didnt knock out Palomino.

Chavez had a better chin than Palomino, and better defensive ability too.

but Duran would clearly have won.

  • I don't think Chavez had a better beard than Palomino? If anything Palomino was naturally larger so therefore could take a better punch. Trust me Duran would of easily KO'd Chavez!

  • NEEEERRRR!!!!!

Chavez is the only 135 who may have beaten Durn at 135. Chon Romero, Duran's countryman and HBO Boxing analyst, wrote a book about it.

I think Duran was better and the greatest 135 ever but never could he ko Chavez..

  • just like you find this Panamanian Romero who argues Chavez would of beaten Duran; I'm sure there are many Mexicans who will argue the obvious case for Duran. He would of inflicted a brutal beating on Chavez stopping him as well; just look at Chavez when hit by the light punching Randall; he went in full retreat mode. Even Chavez himself has stated on DVD "Duran is the best of all the Latin fighters"!

  • Wewll, Romero never said Chavez would beat Duran but he let the "opportunity" open.

I think Duran would decision Chavez, you gotta remember Chavez had an outstanding chin. The Chavez who got dropped and beaten by Frankie Randall, who was a great fighter himself, was already a bit chopworn.

    Saludos amigo!

  • saludos amigo!

Randall was NOT a great fighter! damn the word great gets thrown around loosely these days.

  • He was too. Apart from Chavez, he also beat Chapo Rosario and Juan Martin Coggi. Maybe not an all time great but nonetheless, he was a great fighter, much better than the millions who never became Champion.

  • jojojojojojojojojojojojojojo, you live in a fantasy world.....Duran destroys Chavez.....

  • Rosario harder puncher than Duran? simply not true! do you honestly believe Chapo could of been competitive the way Roberto was in the higher weights? NO! how about knocking down Barkley or TKO'ing Cuevas & Moore or fighting on relatively even terms against Hagler? ABSOLUTELY NOT!

  • judas... At 135, Rosario was a bigger one-punch hitter than Duran...he just wasn't nearly as good a fighter. Don't confuse my saying Chapo hit harder to mean he was more effective.

  • he did NOT hit harder than Duran! do you honestly think Chapo's power would of been enough to KO Moore & Cuevas or knockdown Palomino & Barkley? absolutely NOT!

  • Ask ray lampkin, one left-hook from DURAN nearly killed him!

  • think about this if Duran had never moved up in weight; how long could he have ruled the lightweights for? eg. in 1989-90 while Chavez fought Taylor in what most people regarded as a great fight. Duran fought Barkley way past his prime at the age of 37 at 160, in what was an awesome show of will talent & toughness. So Duran could of been champ for 17years

  • This fella is giving our man Roberto a hard time! He is bigger, has a longer reach and is using it to his advantage well

People need to appreciate just how tough Duran was and his amazing ability to take almost any amount of punishment and make it look like it was nothing

I could write an essay on how Duran won this fight. Duran is the greatest lightweight, the greatest P4P and top 3 of all time. His win over Leonard is the greatest and most brilliant win ever

    Roberto Duran is Timeless

  • amen brother! Duran's name is up there with Ali, J.Johnson, E.Charles, Ol Mongoose, Monzon, Burley Napoles, Ray Robinson, Mickey Walker etc.

  • Roberto Duran just fuckin awesome.

  • What the fuck do you know about it. I was in the 8th row of this fight. I saw it LIVE. You don't know shit. BYE BYE LIL GIRL. BYE BYE. WHOOOO!

  • You don't need to be in the 8th row to see how awesome duran is LIL GIRL.

  • I pray one day you'll have the chance to call me a LIL GIRL to my face.

  • I bey your be busy tonight, happy halloween!

  • Duran is greater than Chavez. BUT, the 135lb Chavez that laid waste to Edwin Rosario, would have pushed Duran to the limit....& come up just a little bit short.

  • Duran the greatest lightweight no doubt! C.Ortiz, Arguello(135), Buchanan, Dejesus, Lampkin, B.Jack Ike Williams just to name a few would of beaten JC Chavez.

  • come up short huh? Duran would of KO'd Chavez with no trouble.

  • Comment removed

  • I agree with you guys.. Not long ago this jerk told me JC CHAVEZ was better than Duran. I just had to laugh dude.. Comparing Duran with Chavez is comparing a mercedes benz with a bentley!!

  • duran is the greatest

  • agreed
