Mobs are stuck in memory stopping slimes from spawning it's a known problem for now your nether trick is only solution

Why do you actually put the water high above the lava? It spreads fine when you just put it on an obsidian block right next to lava.

I do the swap pick thing as well its more resource efficient and I feel like I'm wasting materials.
