Corporate Hitlers have taken Ralph's hard work and destroyed a lot of his accomplishments. We need to put pressure on congress to follow our voices not the Rothchid Dynasty. We need to take back our courts and stand up for the Constitution and restore the laws Bush has slaughter!

They've even set her up to try and discredit her. She started off being a democrat. I'm not sure what party she is currently with, but maybe the same.
Thank you for interviewing Ralph Nader. My Grandparents are from Winsted Ct and They voted for Ralph. They always tell me he is the last of the True Americans. He really cares about us.He is a fighter. The Last of a Dream. If you can't give 100% dont give at all. God Blessed the Chidren with Ralph, seat belts and consumer protect are all about you. Thanks Grammy and Pappy I love you.Maybe Ralph will win next time. Ralph Rules
I voted for Cynthia McKinney, not only is she black and female, but she knows and speaks openly about the truth of 9/11, and that takes more guts than apparently any of the other candidates ever had.
I still can't believe that the man's platform was "change". As if anything he advocates is different than what has been going on for the past, say, 30 years. The man is not going to revamp or get out of job killing NAFTA. He cant cuz nafta has provisions that PRevent this! but his dumb voters think hes going to. HE wont cut the insane pentagon budget because hes a liberal hawk. hes not going to close the borders cuz his corporate masters want exploited labor. Yet another puppet.
What a great recitation of Nader talking points. Meanwhile, even if we granted every policy wish to rattle off in those streams of thought here, none of them would deal with the immediate financial crisis in general or the auto industry in specific. The problem is simple, the big 3 fail in a few months if we dont act and millions lose their jobs and homes. What the answer? Renegotiate trade agreements? What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? We dont have time for your issues now.
RENOGIATION is the ONLY WAY. THIS is the what is CAUSING the SICKNESS. Giving muli billion dollar companies taxpayer money is A TEMPORARY treatment of the ILLNESS. DO you know whats going to happen 5 years down he road? THey"ll come calling again for "bailouts" at the expense of the working class. MORE DEBT is what you are advocating. MORe trade deficits that have to BE FINANCED by BORROWING. Besides why cant we take the money from EXXON MOBILe instead of the WORKING PEOPLE in this country?
Again the socalled "financial crisis" was caused by the same people THE BAILOUT BOY barack oabam is now bailing out! YOu lend money to people who dont deserve the loan and then you and I pay for it? Wall street can loan a billion dollars to a 5 year old and have the AMerican people REPAY IT! WHy not take cash from fortune 500 companies and wipe out the credit card debt of the middle class? But you would never go for something like that would you? Of course not.
As Nader highlighted, the Democrats now have control of the President, the Speaker of the House ans a majority in both HOuses of Congress.
Democrats no longer have any excuses as to why they can't implement the progressive agenda they claim to represent from scapegoating 3rd parties & Republicans.
Alredy you've still got Obama & Pelosi & supportive Congress for more corporate bailouts at taxpayers expense, more funding for military expansion, increase war in Afghanistan & Pakistan etc.
Grow up. Folks like you and Nader are against the bailouts but you offer no alternatives. If we allow the big 3 auto makers to go under, we will lose 3 million jobs and the credit markets will tighten again as all those folks will default on their mortgages and car loans. Whats Nader's answer, do nothing and hope for the best? As for the military, Obama inherited two wars, he didnt initiate them and he is locked into approving the costs of completing them. These are political realities on earth.
Grow up? Obama FUNDED BOTH WARS. Barack Obama and the other militarists in the Democratic Party KEEP FUNDING THE WARS! He wouldnt have "inherited" any war if he didnt continue to fund them and balloon our national debt. He doesnt oppose the wars. If you were against strip clubs and nude bars, would you send your paycheck to the local bootyshaking club? YOU DOLT! "Political Reality" is the Dummycrats took control of congress in 2006 and KEPT THE WARS GOING. YOU DUMMYCRAT!
Listen sheep do you think that the the struggles of the big 3 in detroit are simply a result of the "free market"? That there problems are natural market failures? MORON! Its the "TRADE DEALS" that are hurting them. We sold South Korea 4000 cars last year. They sold us 700,000. WHy? Because the koreans levy a 25% tarrif on U.S. imports and we levy a 2% tarrif on their imports. Being inundated with cheap foreign imports is the problem. Something GLOABALIST puppet obama will not address.
"naders answer" is to actually LEVY the Playing the field in the sport called TRADE. Because right now the game is rigged against U.S. manufacturers. These "trade deals" give foriegn countries full access to our markets while they are allowed to PROTECT theirs with HIGH TARRIFS. U.S. companies are even REWARDED in the form of tax breaks for expatriating american jobs. This is why our TRADE DEFICIT is $765 billion! WE CONSUME, THEY SELL! Wealth is determined by what you PRODUCE not consume.
If I remember correctly Nader did offer alternatives to the Wall street fiasco it was something to the effect of having the speculators that caused this problem to pay 1/10 of 1% of security derivatives from 2008 and this on it's own would = $500 billion. Also have Paulson pay $200 million of his own money to bail out his buddies. Also re-install regulation for all our financial institutions so that this doesn't happen again. I seem to remember there were other alternatives as far as the big 3.
what's strangely poetic is that actual regulation of financial institutions is something that obama promised, someone i trusted and voted for. and now he's buckling in their favor. ralph called it but we were too busy having stars in our eyes whenever obama crossed the street.
BUt you and I both know that the dummycrats are corporate sycophants just like the republicans. YOu and I both know that there will be more funding of the 2 phoney wars and possible war with Iran/Russia/Pakistan. We both know the military budget is still going to bloated beyond belief and the EMPIRE of bases still in operation abroad. We know that the GOVT SPying will continue under the Dummycrats. We know that the borders will remain open. We know that shipping jobs abroad will continue
Nader is a egomaniac and his campaigns have all been a joke(particularly his most recent). He argues that the people are suffering intolerable "fascism" under the current polices and acknowledges that change through a 3rd party candidate would take far longer to achieve than if pursued through one of the 2 major parties right? Well why then does he not seek to partner with democrats to shape the party platform? Because he has to have the credit and his desire for validation rises above all else
Nader said he wouldn't run if Kucinich, Gravel or Ron Paul were elected as these were candidates were anti war and anti corporate coruption in politics.
But these true progressives & conservative candidates were excluded from the Democrat & Republican party debates, proving these parties aren't representive of policies & priniciples they claim to represent.
Also Nader has always been an independent as most voters register as, yet independent & 3rd party voices are excluded.
agree. see my comment with atvfreelife. another Nader sore loser idiot !he got lesss than 2% votes and now claiming the winner ? c'mon ,give me a break !!!
...so now that the election over will you give a commitment to stop taking the piss out of grown men who play Dungeons & Dragons, or alternatively agree to also persecute ruthlessly the players of other games such as twister, risk, checkers & chess (thank you R.E.M.)?
"But his choice, basically, is whether he's going to be Uncle Sam for the people of this country, or Uncle Tom for the giant corporations."
So... from that statement people get the following "Nader called Obama 'Uncle Tom'"? How stupid are some people? I watched some Youtube videos where angry black/mulatto men told Nader to shut up because Obama won and Nader lost. So if you lose an election you don't have a right to say anything after that? Isn't THAT fascism?
Seriously. That quote was taken way out of context. I will agree that the term "uncle tom" was not the most diplomatic phrase to use, but Nader is hardly a racist for using it.
@Sikapossu75 Yup. I have a feeling that people bash Nader for something like this because they know he won't strike back with a load of bullshit. Faux News ripped Nader apart on their channel for his comment which had absolutely nothing to do with race.
I'm Proud to have voted for Nader. can't wait to vote for him again in 2012.
And When people are telling me I'm waisting my vote, my reply is Eugene Debbs - "I rather vote for a candidate that I BELIEVE IN, who may LOSE! rather than vote for a cadidate I don't believe in, who may win and then BETRAY ME".
There's old saying ; if you want to live like Republicans vote Democrats ! Here's my criteria: 2000 election Nader only got less than 2%, 2004 less than 1% votes , 2008 less than 1% votes, I am willing to bet in 2012 he will get less than 2% votes if he run again, if you are really for him you should take my offer to bet .How much ? $ 100? $1000 or $ 5000 just tell me .
I've got a bet for you. I'll pay ten to one odds. the democraps continue to take progressive voters for granted and toss them a bone every once in a while, while governing from the center-right and continuing corporate welfare unabated. How much??? 100? 500? 50,000,000???
Two Poles I am standing on the line of the horizon between the two poles On the paper trail Of flyers I vowed like a giant to wrap the equator 7 times With the names of Nader/Gonzalez Standing frozen between two poles One I respect and fear, the distance One I love and fear, the proximity I stand frozen Afloat the paper trail Between two poles Amazed at the calm of the waters
I LOve you Ralph...Thanks for running....Faux News, as one person called them, are a bunch of, well, need we say more....You will always be #1 in MY book.
yeah okay Aussie00 just remember that he probably loves his white mom too and that his white mom probably loved him very much...(I voted 3rd party) can ya tell?
angrypiratetod: I would have to disagree with you on that and say that corporations running things is very close in line with facism....How would you define it? I would like us to be either a republic or a democracy, but we are coming closer to a facist/communist dictatorship
Fascism is a system of government that comes about by revolution and promotes a cult of national and often racial unity and power. The state becomes the end all be all. Instead of a government that serves the people, the people serve the government.
Corporations are separate legal entities from individuals. Basically, instead of people having legal rights, legal rights have been granted to companies. Since companies also have lots of money, they have more legal leverage than individuals...
...Fascism also goes by the name corporatism, which is where Nader is getting his statement. A nation's government becomes a separate entity and an end in itself. In that way, it's similar to the corporatization of a business since the business becomes a legal entity in and of itself.
Ultimately, fascism and corporatism aren't related to the empowerment of corporations. That's not to say that corporations don't need a check-down in power, as Nader suggests, but it's not fascism.
If I had to give it a name, I'd call it a Corporate Oligarchy, but that's not exactly right either since they don't have direct control. Maybe just a corrupt representative democracy that caters to corporate interests?
It's a Capitalocracy, a government by capital (the holders of capital, corporations and their wealthiest shareholders all over the world), of capital, and for capital.
Capitalism is an economic system, but it's not a "free market" system, it's deregulation in favor of capital, and corporate welfare in the form of tax breaks, favors, and bailouts in favor of capital. That's not an economic system, it's the government representing capital and not the people. It's capitalocracy.
well, capitalism is theoretically an economic system, not a system of government, which is why I think a distinction is warranted. I think capitalism with some ground rules (don't pay less than a living wage, don't systematically kill people in your production process) is a viable option, at least in the majority of economic sectors. When government is chosen by capital and governs for the sake of capital, then it's a system of government for capital, therefore the -ocracy rather than the -ism.
Exactly. THe great mercantilist Ludwig Von Mises laid out 4 requisites for a truly Free market/Capitalist economic system. One of those requisites was "THE protection of PEACEFUL/LAWFUL participants in the market place and PUNISHMENT of those who would use fraud and force."
Market integrity must be preserved otherwise it becomes an economic jungle. It goes from capitalism to cannabalism. ANd like you said there must be a separation of the capitalist class and the STATE.
It's outside of democracy versus autocracy. It's not a democracy because the people don't really choose, and it's not an autocracy because a single, organized person, body, or group doesn't control anything. The U.S. government is controlled by capital and rules in its interests, and the holders of this power aren't even all within the U.S. The wealthy class of the U.S. doesn't control it, but the wealthy class worldwide, as international shareholders of the corporations in control.
AAAAAGGHHH! Did he really have to use the phrase "Uncle Tom?" Nobody has Mr. Nader on a higher pedestal that I do, but inflammatory, racially-overtoned catch-phrases are worse than pointless. Just wait until April '09 and let Obama make HIMSELF look bad.
your right man Obama is in the spot light now and all the hypocrisy is going to become so clear to all of the nation. The followers of Obama will shrink and fade away like a stampede once he starts his true agenda which is opposite of the agenda he sold them.
I like Nader, on his stand on corporate tyranny. But I believe in a two party system, unless we abolish parties all together and vote for a man on his own views and values. It is a start when you now have a president elect, who has from the start of his campaign, based his campaign on and for the people, not for a party.
Even though the election is over, everyone, especially anyone who's never been there, should visit the votenader website and review the issues Nader's been championing. And if you agree with any of them, you should hope, pray, and most importantly fight in any way you can to ensure that Obama stands up for these issues, because there is not any guarantee that Obama will fight for us if we are content to remain silent.
I find it really odd that Ralph Nader would quote Roosevelt speaking against(?) 'fascism' when Roosevelt ushered in fascism at its most extreme.
Socialism, the other side of fascism is utterly repugnant to individual freedom, thought and responsibility.
No amount of gov control over, any subject-whether it be environment or wages, is utterly unable, incapable of the knowledge and wisdom to monitor things like We The People (aka free markets) opinion of products and services.
Socialism, the other side of fascism, is utterly repugnant to individual freedom, thought and responsibility.
NO AMOUNT of gov control over, any subject-whether it be environment or wages, is utterly unable, POSSESSES the knowledge and wisdom to monitor things like We The People (aka free markets) opinion of products and services.
I don't a fricken hoot what brand, spectrum or color of socialism you hope to infuse into our Constitutional Republic! If it walks like a duck, it's a f'n duck! and it doesn't fit in our system of government.
Davis, I pressed the stop button when Mr Nader asked his rhetorical Uncle Sam Uncle Tom question. I felt revulsion. This man seems stuck in some odd time warp and his framing of the question revealed him to me to be an odd man out. He seems more obstinate than progressive.
Davis, on to more important things: the bridge is calling!
The failure of Barak Obama to address these issues is why I wonder how much change Barak will actually make. I would've voted for him though. this guys seems on to it.
5When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come!" I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. 6Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, "A quart[a] of wheat for a day's wages,[b] and three quarts of barley for a day's wages,[c] and do not damage the oil and the wine!"
Racist? He has done more to advance the rights of minorities than anyone else I know. One of his first paper's back in 1956 was titled "American Indian's, a People Without a Future" in which he describes the plight of our native people. He picked a Mexican America as his vice presidential running mate and along with Cynthia McKinney was one of two who talked about "poverty" and how this issue disproportionately affected African-Americans and Latinos.
Thank you Ralph & davisfleetwood! Let's work to get out of this prison! Anyone want to take a chain link climbing fence course with me??? Peace♥ Love, Paula
enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe."
Do you think that just because the election is over, the hard work is over, too? That's exactly the attitude that will get us four years of the Dems running roughshod over our individual rights for the benefit of the corporations.
If you got the impression I was bullying, I apologize. That was not my intent. It frustrates me to hear people quit only because the election is over. I'm going to continue to try to hold my elected officials' feet to the fire to keep their promises. That's exactly the point of the november5(dot)org website and this video, which makes this the right place to make that argument. I worked hard, too, without reward, but I don't expect gratitude for doing what I believe is right.
for what does it profit humanity if it gains the world and loses its soul? Gratitude is everything.
Nader asks where's the fire in their bellies.
I'm tired of the snarky responses and anger from both sides the only thing that's clear to me is the American People don't know what they want other than lack of responsibility.
what will happen is the middle class will fall and they will do exactly what the poor have done.
Ralph Nader just did what he could do towards stopping the Tyranny. As with the Church, the separation of corporations on politics need to be separated. Davis is pegging for a singular answer (I would have too). So let's take it upon ourselves to follow our personal instinct and passion and focus on that to get us started.
im a reporter."Why are all the people so talkative and happy?"now im the interviewee,"because they all KNOW they are right, and that what they are doing is for the betterment of america, the world, and the earth."
Great interview. Nader makes much more sense than Obama's koolade deluxe. The greatest tyrants were the greatest orators. Rhetoric feeds and clothes no one, nor does it set freedom free.
Great interview! Corporate supremacy = fascism. "That fundamental radiates tyranny". Fox news is a central propaganda generator of the fascist controllers.
"Induced voter masochism" is the goal of fascists. They want it to hurt to cast a vote.
If you want commentary presented by honest news analysts, I strongly endorse THIS Presenter, Subscribe to Fleetwood and start your morning with his brand of coffee. It will keep you awake.
..... that Obama ....will blame everything that's bad ...right now in the US on Bush....(don't get me wrong I hate Bush with a passion)
...but there is a LOT more blame that needs to go to other people too!
(namely ....McCain and Obama for BOTH voting YES on the re-authorization of the patriot act and the 2008 Bailout!.....(just to name two pieces of "legislation")
it goes to show you whose interests the political class serves- namely corporate interests.
every time advanced capitalism teeters on the edge of collapse, the state explicitly and nakedly exposes it's primary and sole function as an institutional prop for capital and wealth inequality. the economy experiences acute crisis and the government responds. their priorities are quite obvious and quite obviously counter to the development of humanity.
I am black and I am 100% sure that Ralph Nader would do more for the average everyday black person in the US than Obama will ever do. As Nader says here people are going to get "shafted".
THANK YOU! Nader has outlined, in his policy!, that he would help progress minorities, especially black people (he's one of the few people who speak out against the racism and racial inequality in America, Obama just avoided it!)! Nader/Gonzalez is real CHANGE, Obama/Biden is a flippin' fraud! Don't get me wrong, I always wanted to see a black president in my lifetime, but he's not the right one unfortunately...
Using Uncle Tom in a reference to Obama and then going on Fox News and feebly and unconvincingly defending it was political suicide for Nader. He is finished. That was just beyond stupid. I totally understand his point but his lack of acumen here was disturbing.

You know Davis I still think this run was for Ralphs ego, and better course would have been to throw his intellectual weight behind the Green party as an elder statesman and spokesman say W.F. Buckley and the conservatives. The way I see it, is that in many ways progress, on say universal health care, has been hampered for 50 years by racial resentment by both white and black. Obama stands there as eloquent symbol to both reactionary sides.
More like Obama stands as an eloquent symbol for corporate domination and the hoodwinking of the American people. We'll buy more of the same if the packaging is shiny enough.
If Nader was concerned with his ego, he wouldn't run---he would protect his reputation and stay out of the Presidential race altogether. He gets nothing but abuse for doing this.
I would have voted for Nader. Why is it that the best political groups/individuals are so supressed? Thank you Fleetwood for working against that and giving Nader more publicity.
" Voting for the President--A New Type of Transparency"
Across the country students have been participating in mock elections where Obama was winning by landslides and 3rd parties getting single digit no. if even given the option.
This school made students vote on issues without telling them which candidate. Nader won by almost 2: 1 over Obama, and McCain was no factor.
Proves Nader is a marginalised voice representing the majority.
Thank you for running, Ralph Nader. I voted for you and Gonzalez this year. Corporate supremacy is the key issue we will have to deal with in the next several years.
Would Nader consider working in the next administration?
so true. obama had a chance in those first months of his presidency. He blew it.

He wouldnt have "inherited" any war if he didnt continue to fund them and balloon our national debt. He doesnt oppose the wars. If you were against strip clubs and nude bars, would you send your paycheck to the local bootyshaking club? YOU DOLT!
AINTMYAMERICA 3 years ago

ELisSheba 3 years ago
what's strangely poetic is that actual regulation of financial institutions is something that obama promised, someone i trusted and voted for. and now he's buckling in their favor. ralph called it but we were too busy having stars in our eyes whenever obama crossed the street.

Because he has to have the credit and his desire for validation rises above all else
sergeantnorider 3 years ago
Nader said he wouldn't run if Kucinich, Gravel or Ron Paul were elected as these were candidates were anti war and anti corporate coruption in politics.
But these true progressives & conservative candidates were excluded from the Democrat & Republican party debates, proving these parties aren't representive of policies & priniciples they claim to represent.
Also Nader has always been an independent as most voters register as, yet independent & 3rd party voices are excluded.

Sikapossu75 3 years ago 3

"Uncle Tom"? Bad word choice. Ralphie might also want to remove his foot from his mouth.
AngryPirateProd 3 years ago
angrypiratetod: I would have to disagree with you on that and say that corporations running things is very close in line with facism....How would you define it? I would like us to be either a republic or a democracy, but we are coming closer to a facist/communist dictatorship
Rosetteismyname 3 years ago
Fascism is a system of government that comes about by revolution and promotes a cult of national and often racial unity and power. The state becomes the end all be all. Instead of a government that serves the people, the people serve the government.
Corporations are separate legal entities from individuals. Basically, instead of people having legal rights, legal rights have been granted to companies. Since companies also have lots of money, they have more legal leverage than individuals...
AngryPirateProd 3 years ago
...Fascism also goes by the name corporatism, which is where Nader is getting his statement.
AngryPirateProd 3 years ago
If I had to give it a name, I'd call it a Corporate Oligarchy, but that's not exactly right either since they don't have direct control. Maybe just a corrupt representative democracy that caters to corporate interests?
AngryPirateProd 3 years ago
It's a Capitalocracy, a government by capital (the holders of capital, corporations and their wealthiest shareholders all over the world), of capital, and for capital.
Capitalism is an economic system, but it's not a "free market" system, it's deregulation in favor of capital, and corporate welfare in the form of tax breaks, favors, and bailouts in favor of capital. That's not an economic system, it's the government representing capital and not the people. It's capitalocracy.
Capitalocracy 3 years ago
I can agree with that.
AngryPirateProd 3 years ago
capitalism
A governmet by capital
for capital
of capital
changeishere2008 3 years ago
well, capitalism is theoretically an economic system, not a system of government, which is why I think a distinction is warranted.
Capitalocracy 3 years ago
AINTMYAMERICA 3 years ago
It's outside of democracy versus autocracy. It's not a democracy because the people don't really choose, and it's not an autocracy because a single, organized person, body, or group doesn't control anything. The U.S. government is controlled by capital and rules in its interests, and the holders of this power aren't even all within the U.S. The wealthy class of the U.S. doesn't control it, but the wealthy class worldwide, as international shareholders of the corporations in control.

I like Nader, on his stand on corporate tyranny. But I believe in a two party system, unless we abolish parties all together and vote for a man on his own views and values. It is a start when you now have a president elect, who has from the start of his campaign, based his campaign on and for the people, not for a party.
BObama2008 3 years ago

Racist? He has done more to advance the rights of minorities than anyone else I know. One of his first paper's back in 1956 was titled "American Indian's, a People Without a Future" in which he describes the plight of our native people. He picked a Mexican America as his vice presidential running mate and along with Cynthia McKinney was one of two who talked about "poverty" and how this issue disproportionately affected African-Americans and Latinos.

it goes to show you whose interests the political class serves- namely corporate interests.
every time advanced capitalism teeters on the edge of collapse, the state explicitly and nakedly exposes it's primary and sole function as an institutional prop for capital and wealth inequality. the economy experiences acute crisis and the government responds. their priorities are quite obvious and quite obviously counter to the development of humanity.

Obama stands there as eloquent symbol to both reactionary sides.
kraymes 3 years ago
More like Obama stands as an eloquent symbol for corporate domination and the hoodwinking of the American people. We'll buy more of the same if the packaging is shiny enough.
If Nader was concerned with his ego, he wouldn't run---he would protect his reputation and stay out of the Presidential race altogether. He gets nothing but abuse for doing this.

Interesting video.
Nader is a good reminder of the serious thing there is wrong with the American political system.
