Actually, Muay Boran is Ancient Thai Boxing. While it does have some similarities with today's sport Muay Thai, it's origins lie in the battlefield since it was used by Thai soldiers as a method of killing. In short, it has many different techniques and subscribes to its original purpose of only killing. Muay Boran is used for killing your foes, not knocking them out. Hope that clears up things a bit.
