Back extensions should never be done with long pauses at the end of the concentric (lift) phase. This is especially true for women who are considerably more susceptible to intervertebral disc trauma than men.
Long duration isometric contraction is the *last* thing you'd want to do.
I'm 68 and I've been doing this exact thing for years. In fact I do a double take at the top.
