@luigi90900 You think it's just mp4 or mp3's that come up short against vinyl? I have Stevie Wonder's "Songs in the key of life" and "Innervisions" albums on CD and vinyl. Playing them side by side the vinyl versions sound WAY WAY better than the CD equivalents. My CD and mp3 player has thick layers of dust on them now.
This will work with a Soundesign all in one system correct. Will thus system with a built in pre-amp still be able to plug into the RCA phono plugs on mine?
Just wondering but is there a sound difference between the original pressing from 1982 and the release they have now. Trying to figure out which one I should buy.
How do I know what type of needle will work with a machine. My parents, that come along with a magnavox receiver/tuner/radio/cassette player needs a new one. I now the more common red ones that come with cheaper vinyl players will work with it. They are slanted along the back and are long. What other types will work with it.
@OldMusicOnVinyl1 not to sound rude but if you mean the Michael Jackson that made this song he died long ago when his nose fell off and started raping kids. If so then yes the old Michael Jackson rest in piece but the one we had the last few years I could care less about.
@Souljah2610 thats because the 25th vinyl Lp is probably mastered from the same tapes as the cd so its digital converted to analog, but the original analag 1982 album on vinyl sounds way better than both, i know cause I have em both. This version has no depth as the original vinyl 1982 release. Also picture discs, have a lower quality sound than regular vinyl, because they're made differently. But whenever possible get the original 80s (and before) vinyl for the best analog sound
Do you suggest swapping out the stylus? I'm new to the turn table world, getting my first one this Friday. How does the one that comes with this Pioneer sound? Is it okay to use it on a 1973 pressing of The Dark Side of the Moon? Will it damage it?
@mikeyskywalker I now use an elliptical stylus I got for $17 from "needledaddy1" on eBay. It sounds even better than the one that other web sites sell for $30 to $35. Just search for "ps-lx250h upgrade" on eBay and you'll find it. The original conical stylus is fine, but the elliptical stylus definitely sounds better. The same stylus works fine on both the Sony and Pioneer, as they are exactly the same turntable, just with or without the strobe and pitch control.
It is an upgraded elliptical stylus from turntableneedles(.)com. LP Gear also sells it for around the same price. But to be honest I don't hear much difference between it and the regular conical stylus that came with the turntable.
Look on my main vwestlife channel for the videos "Old speakers make a newer stereo sound great!" and "Cheap but good Panasonic stereo turntable" to hear them both using the same speakers and recorded with the same camera.
That does sound great. I can vividly remember listening to the original record that my family bought when it first came out. I can remember exactly what it sounded like, too.
Oh BTW does that sucker have an elliptical stylus on it, or conical? Just wondering about the colour code on the plastic thing there.
I hear them elliptical styluses track much better, and are easier on the LP. I want one for my Sanyo.
I'd ram an elliptical fucker on my BSR, but as we all know, that would destroy my LPs, because of the totally wrong factory allignment and when U use the changer. Ellipticals need dead perfect allignment or they fuck up LPs.
The green stylus is an upgraded elliptical tip; it cost me about $30. The white stylus you see in some of my older videos is the standard conical tip.
AH, I thought so. Also, $30.00? That's a diecent price for such a stylus. I don't think I've seen many low end styluses go for that cheap, except the BSR LP/78 ones.
it does sound excellent with the elliptical. You should make a video comparing elliptical and conical styluses. That would be cool!
Also, sorry for cussing all over your video lol, i was kinda drunk when i posted that.
There actually isn't much audible difference between the conical and elliptical styli on this turntable, or on the Technics. The only turntable I noticed a major improvement with an elliptical stylus is my Panasonic stereo systems (I have two and they both use the same turntable and stylus). I have videos of them on my main channel.
Did you have the "hyper-elliptical" stylus from turntableneedles(.)com? (I think it's blue plastic)
If so, how did that one compare to the $17 green stylus you got from Ebay? In theory, the hyper-elliptical should be noticably better...
junglejamesie 3 months ago
@junglejamesie No, this is the green elliptical stylus. The camera just made it look slightly blue.

I find it funny that a Record witch is almos century old technology, has better sound quality than a mp4 on a good turntable.

One of his finest tunes. R.I.P. Michael Jackson.
P.S. Can't you believe how many styli AT make for the same cartridge body? The .4x.7mil elliptical you're using sounds great BTW!

there is no match for a (picture disc) LP on a turntable.
Not a single cd, not a single multimedia device.

FYI, alot of the original pressings of this album were defective. It sold so many copies that they overused the stampers, causing defective copies.
