  • :') best song ever like if you agree

  • The best part maybe is 2:25

  • Saudades do meu vovo!!!

  • my great- told me he was a great friend of Glenn Miller in his youth, then he moved to france and never saw him again, just in CDs.

  • Wish there would be a radio station that plays late 30's and early 60's songs. Then my life would be complete.

  • Michael Buble did Stardust, he should ( if he hasnt already) do this one with Naturally 7 ofcourse!

  • A TF2 video led me here, but this brings up happy memories of Fallout.

  • this horn 0:48 phrase makes me shudder

  • yes, a stupid comment

do you only know those 3 notes on the Rhapsody?

they continue quite different in both authors

    Gershwinn was joyful, Miller melancolic

Both great but nothing to do

  • the disliker has allways breached our defenses, you see what he´s done to my feelings and worst of all, he could be anyone of us, he could be YOU he could be ME he could even ....

  • 2:24 To 2:53 is the part of the song in MaxOfS2D's video

  • @Shipment46 The TF2 is probably the only real compelling reason I came here and I've really even played it before

  • Can this man sing or what? Surely Ray Eberle was the reason most of Glenn Miller's band was so popular. His vocals are exceptional - few could match him and none were his master.

  • Glenn Miller and His Orchestra released "Serenade in Blue" as an RCA Victor 78 single in 1942 with Ray Eberle on vocals with backing from The Modernaires. The record was a monster hit, reaching no. 2 on the Billboard pop singles chart. The song was sung by Pat Friday in the movie Orchestra Wives, lip-synched by actress Lynn Bari. The song became a jazz and pop standard. Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Andre Previn, Mel Torme, Charlie Mingus, Dexter Gordon, and Jackie Gleason have recorded the song.

  • @Nocaro mm?

  • @xaiber16 What's the point you're trying to make? That music from a video game is more popular than "Serenade In Blue" by Glenn Miller? No more kiddie games, ok?

  • @Nocaro Huh? But yeah it's more popular but though I like the original lol

  • @Nocaro Do a Youtube search for "Serenade in BLU" for the Team Fortress 2 clip featuring an animated lip-synch to the original Glenn Miller RCA Victor recording from 1942. There is also a new posting featuring an animated lip-synch version performed to the Frank Sinatra cover version of the song. This song is a timeless classic that has found a new audience on Youtube and on Team Fortress 2.

  • I couldn't tihnk of a time period I'd rather live in than the late 30's - Early 60's. The world just seemed so full of magic and sophistication back then. Music like this, WWII, the Mafia, all that wonderfully enchanting stuff...

15 and born in the wrong era.

  • Best Blue Blues.

  • @Nocaro watch?v=79R-Q57cvlQ&feature=related

    Here

  • Not sure if this is a stupid comment, but is this some kind of take on Rhapsody in Blue? 0:29 sure sounds like it

  • @CormacNataro 0:28 is better actually

  • @CormacNataro It had never occurred to me until you mentioned it, but "Serenade in Blue" probably was influenced by that Gershwin classic.

  • And so here I sit in my lounge room, listening to the rain dancing on the roof, and serenade in blue playing through my computer speakers with only one person on my mind. It's mesmerising.

Sincerely, 17 year old born in the wrong era.

  • @fitzyuc I know exactly how you feel...I like the music of the mid 1900's very much compared to most of today's songs...

  • @Nocaro The TF2 one is from this year.. this ones two years old

  • @TheSman515 Would you mind sending me a link to this "TF2" you're talking about. I cannot seem to locate the video in question.

  • @Nocaro Seranade in BLU by MaxofS2D. TF2 is a therm for Team Fortress 2 a very popular free to play Shooter on the PC.

  • @Nocaro /watch?v=79R-Q57cvlQ

  • @TheSman515 My God, how old are you?

  • @Nocaro he mean the one with this song yet with team fortress 2. If you are questioning about the link it's : /watch?v=79R-Q57cvlQ&NR=1

  • @xaiber16 That link takes you to "fossil watches"...try again.

  • Love how the TF2 version has more views :P

  • @TheSman515 "Views" are as much a function of how long a video has been on YouTube than anything else since YouTube defaults to the one that has had the most views on a simple search (which just adds to the oldest video number).

  • The only thing to be said here is that there's a reason this video has no dislikes.

  • I LOOOOOOOVE THIS SONG!!!

  • Am I the only one creeped out by this song, even if slightly?

This song sounds like something that would go perfectly with shit like The Shining, Bioshock, Back to the Future (something on a random radio station), and any WWII movie.

It's just the feeling of isolation you get from big band songs like these that makes them so subliminally creepy. In a way, you're hearing someone's thoughts, but with weirdly slow trumpets.

  • @Ninja1Ninja2 It seems that it would only fit in the Bioshock universe, only because that took place so long ago.

  • @MrGlassKeys Or either in fallout

  • @Ninja1Ninja2 Yeah, it does feel like a Bioshock (2) thing. prolly cause it was made back then.

  • Serenade in BLU :'3

  • @MrYTPMV mhmm thats where i came from

  • 2:24 for the part MaxOfS2D used in "Serenade in BLU"

  • @SuperEmoBros why skip when you can listen to it all? :3

  • @SuperEmoBros Thank you good sir.

  • Inordinately moving music; just beautiful.

    Many thanks for posting this.

  • For the musicians listening: The 1st 3 bars of the intro are in 4/4, the following 2 bars are in 5/4, then 4 bars of 2/4, ending up with 4 bars in 4/4 before the reed section comes in with the familiar melody. Intro written by Billy May; rest of chart arranged by Bill Finegan. One of my fave tunes while I was with the band.

    Ron Mills

  • Gosh, is this ever swell!

  • YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!! I'VE BEEN LOOKING TOO!!! *jumps with joy*

  • Oh dear, I'm crying.

  • You have NO FUCKING IDEA how long I have been searching for this original, best version. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

  • @george77772moons STICKIT WHERE YOU KNOW!!!!

  • A truly amazing rendition. Timeless ... fantastic ... superb vocals by Ray Eberle and the Modernaires ... smooth ... SIMPLY GREAT!

  • lovely song!

  • This is wonderful - they don't make them like this anymore!

  • Such fine music !! Thank you for this version !!

  • Simply beautiful - music back then had talent; the instruments worked with each other, in harmony and perfect timing. I can almost feel my heart and soul ticking along to this tune it's that moving. Today, it's just banging and clashing.

  • @Georgiahulse I could NOT agree more!! Even as this song was before my birth, so goes a golden age of Americana...And that, dear friend, is truly a crying shame!! I just don't 'get' why people have abandoned all their musical 'senses' and have totally dismissed works of art such as this, which, I believe, are true 'National Treasures'!!! Thank you Jesus, for YouTube, and please bless 'Norcaro' for this beautiful post!!!

  • I completely agree. The vocals of Ray Eberle are incredible. Nobody from today compares with the talent from the 30s-40s. Today is all about appearance rather than talent.
