  • Hey Bill, recently i was listening to Gary Numan's 'down in the park' from the album 'replicas' and i though "these synth tones would be great for an effectology episode!!!". It would be awesome if you would give it a try!!!

  • Bill, you remain one of the most creative in FX sonic recreations! Amazing abain!

  • I'd like to hear the Simpsons theme given this type of treatment - awesome technique!

  • @UFOIST YES!

  • This is awesome! some people have waaaaay too much time on their hands ;) and waaaaaay too many pedals ;)

  • This is awesome!

You should do the theme from John Carpenter's Escape From New York.

  • Bill Ruppert i love you

  • bill ruppert

    you are a mad man

    genious

  • probably the most epic use of guitar effects in the series so far. Amazing. Inspiring. This makes me want to go in this direction with my playing...

  • Unbelievable!!! Can't wait to see what's coming next.

  • Amazing job!!

  • :O

  • Amazing!

  • you, sir, are a guitar master

  • Vangelis should be proud!!!

  • WOW!!

  • I love it. It really conjures the vangelis atmosphere and feeling too. Great!

  • He does it again! Best demos ever...

  • amazing, this shit always blows me away...

  • This is the best fucking thing I've ever seen on youtube.

  • this is definitely one of the most impressive vids you've made! I love it!

  • Don't suppose you might have a go at ELP?Intro to tarkus?

  • @VaiRoth I did do The "Luck Man" Moog solo in Vol 19!

  • Brilliant recreation,Blade Runner best film of all time!

  • Super Cool! Outstanding! Awesome! :-)

  • I love all these Effectology videos and this is the coolest one yet, totally awesome!

  • how do you even begin to envision composing something like this and know how to create those tones??

  • @naazrael I start by deconstructing the original and isolating all the parts in my head.

I then think about the individual instruments and try to visualize what makes the sound what it is .From there it is experimenting with pedals and playing techniques and styles to get as close as I can get. It also helps to research the instrument you are copying to learn what makes it tick. The internet is GREAT for that.

  • You are always the best...!

    Really..!!!

  • Hey Bill, I was just wondering, when you play this stuff (particularly the synth parts) do you use a pick or just your fingers?

  • @CT68 Good Question! The Chordal stuff is fingers and lead sounds are pick.

The bass sounds are 50-50. This one was a fast bass line and it was with a pick

  • Excellent as always!! On the ambient melody, adding a pog2 and a square wave (ring thing or micro synth) before the cathedral wouldn't give this Vaggelis fat synth sound?

  • That's fantastic. My only question is: Did you really use one of those awful Steve Vai Ibanez guitars? If so, even more impressive.

  • @SamuelPony Its a JEM guitar from 1988.

It a wonderful guitar which I have used in the studio on 1000,s of tracks.

I wish you could play it, as you can hear it sounds amazing.

  • @Effectology What is it about it you like? I've played more recent Ibanez guitars, and found them disappointing. As far as that particular JEM goes, you do quite well with it. Having not played that particular one, I have to say the graphics/look really turn me off.

  • @SamuelPony The wood was very well picked. Its sound is VERY even over the entire range and the sustain even with a trem bridge is amazing.

This guitar is over 20 years old so i can not speak for the newer ones.

As for the graphics...I love it. We all are different with what we like and that is why there are 1000,s of different guitars made.Play a guitar for the sound not the color!

  • @Effectology I'm glad you love it, and obviously you get good sounds from it. I'm certain not everyone would love my guitar, and I totally understand. Thanks for your demonstration videos, and your quick replies to my questions, even if I was a bit more offensive sounding than I would have liked in my first one.

  • @SamuelPony Thanks Man!!!!!!!!!

  • @Effectology EXACTLY! I was just about to comment how much these videos have reminded me of me old desire for an FP.

My 2001 UV777PBK has served me so well over the years...

I'm no fan of Vai, but he has discerning taste in guitars, and it shows.

  • @SamuelPony Awful? I have two of them. And planning on more.

  • ThX Bill you sound great

  • I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.

  • @nothingislogical Not only is that an awesome speech, but it was totally improvised by Hauer.

Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies, either.

  • win

  • As always...Amazing

  • mind = blown

  • epic

  • This is so awesome!

  • This is best effectolgy and I dind't even watch this yet. Now I must go to work and buy all these effects...

  • I enjoy all these effectology videos, thank you very much Mr. Ruppert, they are simply amazing.

  • 1:09 O_O

  • I loved it! Great stuff!

  • AMAZING

  • Wooww!! I was already impressed by you're previous work man, but this is incredible!! I mean it, when I say, it sends shivers down my spine. Very well done man. Love it.
