  • Every other band performing on this day are probably hiding in their dressing rooms.. they just got b!tch slapped by pure power..

  • still gives me goosebumps

  • justin chancellor is a beast

  • it was so fucking HOT

  • 1:56

  • which one is Bono?

  • @khunopie He is in the crowd claping and screaming and thinking: Oh my god Tooooooolllllllll!!!!!!!!!!

  • @khunopie He is in the crowd claping, screaming and thinking: Oh my god Tooooooolllllllll!!!!!!!!!!

  • I remember at this show he talking about that POT...

  • Maynard is fucking hilarious..that dance he does when the song starts hahaa...When i saw them a few years back at Forte Wayne, Indiana, he straight up started playing checkers on stage..was good shit..they had the floor of the stage all like up like a flood when they were playing Aenima (flush it all away)..was kickass

  • i love tool... not just maynard.

  • @10000diamondeyes as Maynard says himself he is only 1 part of the band. There are 4 members, without each other there would be no Tool. So yeah, respect to the whole band.

  • @lsaturnascendl exactly.

  • I just love Maynards Silloutte as soon as the lights come up :D:D:D:D:D

  • love adam jones

  • @redrum427 same here!!

  • I really do think people are just happy to see TOOL live nowadays, just the idea of it is awesome, i believe.. I felt the same way, till i went to go see them twice on the lateralus tour and twice on their 10K Days tour. this whole light show BS is for the birds, they are just jammin out as if they're in their garage.. this is not ticket worthy i belive, i love TOOL but they arent into their live shows anymore.. if you look up Aenima tour shows, those were 100 times better than this.

  • @gorgeousgeorge23 boo hoo.

  • @ReverendVegas What are we gonna do with you sheeple? You should've replied "baaah, baah'

  • @gorgeousgeorge23 ha, giving critism and not happy with the performance.. thats being a sheep??.. lol..if you wanna see a sheep, go to ur bathroom and look in the mirror.

  • @gorgeousgeorge23 psh youre crazy.

  • @gorgeousgeorge23 Dude, get real! They're in their 40s now! Of course Maynard is not going to act like he did on stage in the early 90s! I love bands that change with the times and mature, unlike the 80s groups that keep on performing and acting exactly the same way they did 30 years ago but are as old as dirt.

  • @naj6911 man, i get it.. i just wasnt happy with the performance.. I love TOOL, believe me.. but damn, people are gettin all butthurt just cuz i critisized them.. it really shouldnt be that serious...

  • @gorgeousgeorge23 Anyone with artistic skills wouldn't have said what you said. That's why you got jumped.

  • @gorgeousgeorge23

    Dude. Get a clue.

  • @TheDreamMechanic another butt hurt fan that has to reply to my post.. i paid money to see these guys and i gave my opinion. Dude, get a life.

  • The breakdown was a shat moment.

  • Chicago has the worst crowds of people I have ever seen at concerts.

  • one of the stingest moshes i can remember

  • Damn, We really need a new album so they can tour again..

  • @MaynardRules1 Disregard my last comment, Tool coming to Houston, June 20th, 2010. :D

  • powerful.

  • the crowd chant at about 5 mins in is incredible. It gives me chills every time. "So if I could I'd wish I'd wish it all away..." love it.

  • I was lucky to be there. Had a pretty good view, I wasnt down with the crowd but I was up on the hill by the VIP tents and I could just see over the crowd to see the band. Was an amazing concert...

  • wats crazy is that right as they started playing that night a guy hands me a J. also 1.5 weeks b4 this i was in a motorcycle wreck broke my elbow and totalled my triumph daytona 675. TOOL RULES. as maynard said at the show. he missed the prime part of his wine harvest season to play. thank you for your kindness Lord Maynard !!! lol

  • i was there and it was amazing best show ive ever seen

  • HAHA Maynard just cracks me up!

    This was an amazing show...

  • @Kelavmeister lol at the beginnng of this song i was laughing my ass off

  • Easily my most memorable moment of 2009. CHILLS!

  • This would be an experience I could kill for, hopefully they will do an European tour in 2010!

  • I smell recordings coming in 2010, album release 2011 with a follow up tour!

  • Best day of my life! :)

  • drinking wild turkey with a stranger from australia+ motherfuckin TOOL= best night ever

  • tool on ecstasy wood be better but me and my friends used to get blazed and listen to them all day and night at his crib. wished to of been there...fuck

  • I was on beer, and it was still unbelieveable. you missed out.

  • this was a great night also get stoned then go see the greatest band EVER!!!!!!!

  • check out maynard at the very very end during the extended ending.. insane

  • i was right here. this is the best thing i have ever seen in my life. being there is insane thanks to everyone who was there , this was so good.

  • This was definitely the best night of my fucking life. I was somewhere in the front, these stupid chicks kept on falling because they were holding hands.

But damn. Thank you for posting this. It made the memories come backkk.

  • Am I the only person who thinks that Chicago is the best venue for this kind of music? I was standing right next to the sound stage (some stoned chick passed out on my friend-LOL) and it was orgasmic to be listening to the greatest of all bands ever and looking back to see the sky scrapers of Chicago over the dimly lit haze of the city? Damn, I just near jizzed my pants remembering it... One of the best nights of my life right here.

  • i remember it 'bout like that as well... just as good as roger waters' live "covering" Pink Floyd... loved it.

  • @invisiblekid1992 couldnt agree more man.. same feeling!!

  • Same here

  • got super baked

  • this show was sick as hell and my first live tool experience

some people downed their choice of jambi as the opener but seriously you cant say no to starting with that opening from adam

  • ummm... Bassnectar anyone?

  • @sargeklein yea saw bassnectar for the first time that night, i have never seen tool.

  • Yeah way too much pushing. I am 6'2" 280 lbs, and It was too much for me, I had to work my way over to the right. The view was just as good, but I actually listen to the music. I will say, however, that when I hear this song I can remember the concert better than any other song - mainly because of the pain and fear of getting crushed. Weird, but I glad it happened, because my memory of the night is really triggered.

  • It was a great show. I was in the front most center and after they were done, I managed to get the guitar pick :)

  • Comment removed

  • they were so awesome i was in the very first row, and im only thirteen i think i was the youngest person in the first row lol

  • hahaha pathologicalglances has a point it was so packed in there and i was being pushed every which way and just dying of thirst at this point it was distracting me from seeing tool it was fun slipping through all of the slimey sweaty bodies though hahahahaha

  • whats up wiblou1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • im sweating...

  • best band ever

  • I was fucking there dude and almost got crushed during this song. I was so close though I could have spit on Justin. It was a good show, but I would never be that close again for a Tool show. Too fucking distracting. Tool is meant to be able to saturate you, I don't think I want to ever be touched while listening to them live again.

  • this is real music right here with a purpose! love Tool! and Maynard James Keenan!

  • That was an awesome performance

  • best band ever

  • THE BEST BAND EVER

    i agree with that

  • dude i was right by you. i remember that guy being like "Yes.....Yeah....Yes..." right before they started.

  • Dude, I honestly think I was within like 20 or so feet in front of you. God they brought it that night. Awesome show.

  • I'd kill to be there!

  • I was there :)

  • WHAT!? he smelled pot a TOOL concert? NO WAY!!!! lol first time i smoked i listened to TOOL for the first time also, and i fell in love instantly, with both substances

  • tool + cannabis = unexplainable feeling :)

  • The only band I've seen that doesn't need to headbang or do anything stereotypical like that onstage to be good. I would kill to relive this concert. I smell marijuana, for those of you who didn't get the memo, that's illegal... Good news, we just got the clearance. It's okay to take your clothes off.

    Maynard is a fucking god.

  • great vid, i was there on the other side of the soundstage. I also agree about them playing H. I personally wish they'd play right in two, or The Grudge

  • Jammy is such a good song

  • jammy? u mean jambi? or maby jimmy? hm?

  • I was being silly. I figured somebody would pick up on that! :)

Well, in reality both jimmy and Jambi are great!!

  • noob

  • perfect

  • Does anyone know what the setlist was they played this night? I am just curious because I went and saw them in Cinci, which was their last stop before lolla and they rocked out as usual!

  • Whatever they played in Cinci they played at lolla they played the same setlist.

  • 1. Jambi

    2. Stinkfist

    3. Forty-Six & Two

    4. Schism

    5. Rosetta Stoned w/ Passage to Bangkok intro

    6. Flood

    7. Ænema

    8. Lateralus

    9. Vicarious

  • Best setlist possible... well coulda used some H.

im still in shock from this show

  • this was fucking incredible. almost tripped acid for this show. kind of glad i didn't because i got right in the middle of one of the mosh pits...might have been a little overwhelming. This was the loudest and most powerful concert i may have ever been to. I just can't decide which was more epic...this? or jane's addiction the following night? i got right up close for that one? what do you guys think? and for those of you up front...did you guys worry about wearing earplugs?

  • ooo I liked that ending.

  • Comment removed

  • They didn't.

  • I was right up front for this set....maynad james keenan is my hero.

  • Tool is the best ever band!!! like a drug to my brain!!!!!

  • i love you maynard

  • Nice vid! Tool was the highlight of this year's Lolla for me.

  • was front row all day, so so worth it.

  • I can't believe... i missed this!!!!! DX

we HAD to go on vacation the day Tool was near our HOUSE!! AUGGGG!!!!!!

im extremely jealous of my cousin...

    he got fricken backstage passes!!!!!!!!

  • Your cousin didn't get backstage passes. Tool didn't even allow a VIP section, let alone backstage passes.

  • Toolarmy cards work as a backstage pass, if you show it to one of the permanent crew members.

  • a tool at work to allow (us) to create externally/internally what (we) will... to evolve. simplicity manifested.

  • i was a fencehopper that night.

  • Hell yeah dude! We saw one guy totally bolt from the security!

  • man that shit was incredible. lucy in a sky of diamonds.. wow

  • i smell marijuana...in case you didn't get the memo, its illegal. you're all under arrest.

front row baby. i liked justin the most this time around, he was smiling the whole time.

see you guys in Pomona on the 22nd!

  • Yeah, this show was great. I purposefully didn't go to the very front. (I learned my lesson at Rage last year) . I think Maynard was really into this show. He seemed happy to be there...I had a great time!

  • Sweet clip !

  • Best drummer ever, one of the best bands of our era, hope you enjoyed

  • You tape Flood?

  • Awesome concert. Maynard was quite into it. It doesn't go unnoticed, however, that he isolates himself from the rest of the band.

  • i love how right after jambi maynard was like "i smell marijuana!" hahaha great show. i was pretty close to this camera man.

  • ik it may seem like that to some, but he is just being modest because he doesn't want to be idolized like most frontmen are, he is just 1/4 of TOOL and doesn't feel he is anymore important than danny, adam, or justin, anyway that was one badass concert i was about fifth row

  • Exactly, he isolates himself. Unlike other lead singers. Like its working, he had more cheers than any other member. People do idolize him. He understands this. BUT, what happened to the group hug after concerts, why does he enter from a different area? That's what I was getting at.

I for one think the victor of the concert was Danny. What a beast.

  • I was in the mosh 20 feet from the band for the first three songs. It was one hell of an experience but i wont do it again, too many idiots. First Tool show, and im still blown away days later. Thanks for the post.

  • First Tool show aslo. It was fucking epic. I'm still in shock that I saw them live.

  • I smell marijuana.

  • You're close. I wanted to go to Lollapalooza, but I didn't want to go to Chicago. They came to my area so I got to see them. Was great.
