cuz the psp 1000 has 32mb of ram and the psp 2000 has 64

and hence n64

@al3xvelasquez N64 was named because of the 64bit processor, It's true that the PSP1000 uses 32mb and PSP2000, 3000 & GO use 64mb. The extra ram does give it slight performance boost. All PSPs (except E1000 & vita) with CFW can make use of emulators. I wouldn't expect a huge difference.

@al3xvelasquez You could try increasing the psp cpu clock speed to 300 or 333mhz (default is 222mhz), might help lag. From what I've read 300mhz is safe. 333mhz online is not good for the wifi card although offline such as emulators should be fine. Just turn the wifi off and put it back into default when you use wifi. Only problem is that your battery will drain much faster if you clock it higher. Get a stable cfw, and go into recovery or vhs to change clock speed. Up to you.

Finally be able to put pretty much the entire history of video games on one hand held... Unless there is STILL nobody that can reduce the overhead on the emulators for consoles...
