  • perhaps the greatest tv sitcom ever

  • NICE!

  • Theme music for TV shows was even better than todays popular stuff.

  • I'm 13 and I love this song!

  • Great vid!

  • I remember watching this show long time ago. I was wondering if there's a real radio station WKRP in Cincinnati. My guess would be "no".

  • @JeffK1980 The CBS station in Cincinnati is WKRC, which is pretty close...

  • @JeffK1980 there is an internet radio and entertainment station called wkrp.

  • @edt Yeah!

  • This sounds digitally recorded.

  • Along with Mary Tyler Moore, Taxi, Newhart and a few others..... This is one of the nicest ever intro's to a TV show.

And yes, Bailey over Jennifer absolutely!!

  • @edt558 network tv sucks today....we had it great 70s and 80s sitcoms.....no comp! you can add mash, the jeffersons, maude, braney miller..lol thank god for dvds

  • thanks for the upload man, it means a lot.......

  • i love this theme man. it just does something to me

  • Never heard this long version before, WKRP was such a great show.

  • Bailey was HOTTT

  • I think I'm going to move to St. Louis to find myself

  • Not bad, but for my tastes, there was *one* beat that you missed: you should have gotten a current shot of... was it their tower?, which I think still stands... to go out on. Nice, nonetheless. Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks for Throwing Newport, KY in.

  • I seem to recall a different version, one in which the first thing you heard was someone tuning up and down the dial of a car radio stopping on various stations. I distinctly remember hearing something about a "Senator admitting he was drunk but was unable to account for his nudity" just before tuning into WKRP. Am I remembering this incorrectly?

  • @smartcooky99 -- That was the opening for the first half of Season 1. CBS put the show on hiatus during the opening season, and when it returned it had the opening that ran for the remainder of the series (with a modification for Seasons 3-4 to include all the cast members in the opening intro).

  • The aquarium is actually in Kentucky .Not Ohio

  • @billyjo856 Similar to the Cincinnati airport, it is in the Greater Cincinnati area, which is what I was trying to show.

  • Everyone was finding themselves in the 70's and early 80's. Like Les Nesman, I had a girlfriend who went to St. Louis to find herself!!!!! Oh...God help me..hahahah

  • Sung by Steve Carlisle. I know: I have the album. Google him.

  • This song is extremely underrated. Excellent lyrics, full blown guitar solo that is totally poignant, bass is bouncing around. It has it all!

  • These old TV themes make me cry, life seemed so much easier then.

  • theme songs from the 80's rocked. They really put some thought into the intro.

Taxi; Cheers; Welcome Back Kotter (70's), Family Ties; Growing Pains, etc.

  • I love this song.

  • great vid

  • i really love the song...so sad, cant find this at limewire :(

  • Beautiful music, beautiful pics! Great job R!

  • awesome vid ....love the full song ....bailey's hot...the dr's the man!!!!

  • Love it!!!!!

  • i was raised here as a child in seventies..no latinos, asians, or muslims, just black americns & whites livin & respectin each other in harmony!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! greatest city that i know of!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @cylinder4ify I'm glad I am far away from your bigotry.

  • me too;)

  • wasnot always that way though in the queen city, but with the death of industrieal america many citys had this happen just look at the once great city of motown, aka detroit, the place is a wreck and almost no hope of ever getting it back to a decent form of prosperity, and chicago is almost as bad soo gang ridden you cant go anywhere of downtown without watching your back, yet it used to be the meat packing capital of america among other great things that it was

  • @AnacondaTwelve do you like the song at least?

  • I remember being a sophamore in high school when this show first came on and saying it was way ahead of it's time. Brilliant cast!

  • Well, it makes Newport, Kentucky look pretty nice. I'm not too sure about the 'Nati

  • its really not like that rape drugs killers iam from cincinnati and belive me its like detroit a real shit hole

  • Well, I, for one, thought it was well done, and it made Cincinnatti look nicer than I had imagined it would. It was very nicely done, and it's good to hear the full length version of the song.

  • get a life you techno-nerd, enjoy the song

  • Beautiful, simply beautiful! Superbly done. Thanks!

  • Bailey over Jennifer hands down!!

  • I was a Bailey guy myself too.

  • Ooh, this is a very nice song. My first time hearing it, too. Love this song, it's just so laid back, so mellow:)

  • this video/audio makes me nostalgic for one of my home towns. my dad likes the cincinnati reds even though he lived in the cincinnati area for only about 2 years ( about 1969-1971 ). my dad was a fan of the cincinnati reds even before he moved to the cincinnati area. i lived in cincinnati ( including the city limits ) during much of the 1990s. cincinnati wkrp was a great show with a great theme tune. i believe that most domestic turkeys have had their wings clipped, thus making them flightlesss.

  • rwoolf,

great job at putting this video montage together. Just for the record...I thought Jan Smithers was the beautiful one. No offense to Loni's fans.

  • From all the annoying stock wipes, I'm going to assume that you made this video during the original run of WKRP.

  • Yeah. What a doucher, using his available program to create a slideshow. Even though it would take the equivalent of a Cray 10 to make this in the 70's, he obviously used the old technology to provide us with this great song. maybe next time, he'll have the god damn common courtesy to provide you with a self-programmed, Linux-based slideshow, instead of this tripe. Also, fuck you in the ear. Just enjoy the song.

  • Great song. Typical midwestern town, culturally and architecturally.

  • I've been to Cincinnati, went earlier this year. It was fine. Went to Newport, KY which is across from Cincinnati. Ohio is the "Midwest" they say but seems like back east to me it's so far back that way. I'm from CA so maybe that's why it seems back east to me.

  • Bailey was hot....hot..

  • Que recuerdos. Se vio en Venezuela por NCTV, en los 90's

  • Bailey Quarters was definitely hotter than Jennifer Marlowe!

  • Agree!

  • From Wikipedia:

WKRP had two musical themes, one opening and the other closing the show. The opening theme, called "WKRP In Cincinnati Main Theme", was composed by Tom Wells, with lyrics by series creator Hugh Wilson, and performed by Steve Carlisle. An urban legend had circulated at the time that Richard Sanders (who had comparable vocal characteristics to Carlisle) had actually recorded the song. Wilson stated in the commentary for the first season's DVD set that this was simply not true.

  • It does sound like him but it isn't.

  • You are wrong my friend:

"WKRP had two musical themes, one opening and the other closing the show. This was proven to be a false urban legend.

  • its al jareaux you idiot

  • @SPIKENOTRE Les sings this song????????????? Are you sure???

  • @SPIKENOTRE ... it is.. i never knew that

  • Oh, how I loved all these oldies shows ... I could listen to their themes over & over. And this video is very well done, too! Nice!

  • Thanks for posting this song I have never heard the whole version, or so clearly.

  • What editing software was used to put together the slide show? I reallly like the Animation transistions. I've used Pro Show Gold to do slide shows with music like this.

  • Half of that comes from my aunt's state of Kentucky. The Basilica of the Assumption is wonderful, but it's in Covington. Cincinnati has a better cathedral with St. Peter in Chains. However, it's great.

  • You are correct about the many pictures being of Newport and Covington, Kentucky. While not technically Cincinnati proper, Northern Kentucky makes up the southern half of the greater Cincinnati area.

I created this video to showcase the area for international travelers to a business conference being held at my company's Covington, KY office. The "WKRP in Cincinnati" theme song worked well for background music as most have heard it before and it is related to the area.

  • I have seen the real Chisa San Petro incarceri. the actual manecals that bound peter are mounted in the elevated area by the main altar its a powerful reminder that the saints were real people .

but the outside of the building just looks like a non discript old roman building in the city of Rome Italy.

  • Perhaps in your montage you should have featured the hometown pro football team Bengals. You could have had a little photo clip of all their SB rings and so forth...oh...wait a minute...they don't have any. Hmmm...never mind...scratch that. Cincy sucks...always has...probably (most certainly) always will. Oh well..good video I guess.

  • KILLER toon!

  • Cincy is a welcome relief from kentucky!!

  • a great theme... but a city that elected Jerry Springer to mayor...ughhh

  • This song makes me want to stuff coffee grounds in my ears

  • Even though i use to be a clevelander and i love cleveland, i love cincinnati and cincinnati will always be my 2nd favorite city. I love this song!!!!!!!

  • Hey great montage , Loved that show , Classic . Wkrp Cincanati in Oh / Laverne & Shirley in Milwaukee / Good Times in Chi-Town / Happy Days in Milwaukee , Gotta love the Mid-west !

  • Man this brings back great memories. Trep, you're right theme songs just aren't the same (you're lucky if you even get one now).

  • What wipe is that being used in the editing? The random lava-like wipe.

  • This is so twentieth centry!!!

  • This is the first time that I've seen some little shit write and/or utter that phrase.

  • Very well done. I'd never heard the full song before. Where did you find it?

  • To be honest I cannot remember. I probably found it searching the internet.

  • I LOVE IT! I'm always living on the air in Cincinnati WKRP! I LOVE IT!

  • great

  • thats WKRP In Cincinnati............!!!!

  • Very emotive—I like what you've done here.

  • Love <3

  • I want to hear the closing theme. They keep taking it down like it a huge money maker or something?!.

  • so soulful

  • Great work!

  • I drive a truck out of Dayton Oh just north of Cinci. I know this is corney but I sing this in my truck going south on I-75 and just comming over the hill heading back north in Ky. It's a great view

  • Yeah, good old Cut In The Hill there, driver.

  • dallas won. yeah.

  • THIS IS THE SHIZ!!!

  • its on every sunday night 7-8 on WGN

  • i used to love this show so much. at least its on sometimes, i forgot which channel.......its on time warner digital though. what a great show!!

  • Excellently done! I favorited this immediately! Great work!

  • Oh my God a three minute version of my favorite theme song evrer . I cant even type straight!!!!!!!!!! I never knew there were extended lyrics and that super seventies groove!!!! Sounds like Steely D bin there prime !!!!SUPREMO

  • You are right it does sound like Steely Dan.

or Chicago....no you had it right the first time Steely Dan.

    Awsome theme song.

  • This is Steve Carlisle who sings this thee.

  • You know, a low frequency television station actually changed it's name to WKRP, Just read about it. I'll send the article to ya sometime.

  • kind of chuck maginonish(sp?) Ive never heard the whole song myself i heard it in passing on the tv just now and thought to myself. "they dont make theme songs like they used to and this one is one of the best ive ever heard"
