woudln't it be easier if you would use your the middle instead of the index finger at the second note? you would be able to not move your hand around the neck at all.
hey man, just wanted to say that its actually easier for some people (mainly me) to actually use the middle and ring finger for the first part, then its easier to go into the 1, 3, then open on the a string, try it its actually easier

Hell yea its an Ibanez Gio- I love that thing- it was my first guitar. I added some Spertzal tuners and a SD Distortion to that beast.
